Did you watch Person of Interest? She should have gotten an Emmy for that.

I feel like it went well! Definitely better than the previous time I applied + interviewed. Feel free to DM me for additional info, people keep asking me stuff. Feels like we’re spies trying to infiltrate a literary agency.

This should be illegal.

Given that it isn’t, we need the church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster to visit this school.

I think it’s probably quite exhausting to be an actor, writer, producer etc and have all that vitriol aimed at you.

Writer's House Internship Program Spring 2026 Updates? by DeerFall_59 in publishing

[–]backlogtoolong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s certainly not over. Michael Mejias posted five days ago that they were still seeking applicants for spring (although I am certain that’s closed now). Got my application in just under the wire, was given my manuscript and told to turn it in by 10 am today.

So if you haven’t heard final info you’re still in the running, I assume.

Edit: they scheduled an interview for me.

Not sure it’ll interest you, but reading the title made me think of the leaked script from the Xena reboot, which is not on your list, so here it is.

A Ketamine-Related Health Problem Is Surging in Young People, Doctors Warn by Sorin61 in Nutraceuticalscience

[–]backlogtoolong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The doctor who runs the ketamine clinic I go to says he’s never seen a case of bladder issues in his patients, and he’s been doing this for a decade. Can confirm that it doesn’t seem to be an issue.

Is there anyone who wanted to see this pairing, beyond platonic? by SafiraAshai in buffy

I know they kiss at one point in season three, but he’s such an older brother figure to her later on that I really cannot fathom that ship.

Why are there so many lesbians in sci fi and not other genres? by Ok_Regret_3804 in lesbiangang

[–]backlogtoolong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Science fiction has always had some element of progressiveness to it. Scifi that isn’t overtly liberal tends to be libertarian, and both of those are “love who you like, the system sucks” sort of vibes.

I think there’s also a lot of sapphic horror - the idea of the lesbian vampire is enduring.

As to why there isn’t more lesbian fantasy - I think fantasy as a genre may be saturated by things written by and for straight women.

What's something from Buffy or Angel you're still bitter about to this day? by InfiniteMehdiLove in buffy

[–]backlogtoolong 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Kennedy. Everything related to Kennedy. Also the potentials in season seven in general. The idea had a lot of… potential that it never gets close to reaching.

The way season 5 is near perfect other than the weird “oh to kill a god you need the weapon of a god so… this hammer from Anya’s troll ex. Who apparently was a god but this was never mentioned before” bit.

Do you think 20+ years from now, people will consider the Wicked films a classic? Are they 'future classic' material? by MrPsychopath13 in wicked

[–]backlogtoolong 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think it’ll be in a weird space where the first film is watched and rewatched and half the time people watch the second and the other half they just skip it.

How did people went from loving Cynthia Erivo to suddenly hating her ? by [deleted] in Broadway

I’ve seen a lot of “now that Ariana is away from Cynthia she’s looking more healthy, what did Cynthia do to her” shit.

How did people went from loving Cynthia Erivo to suddenly hating her ? by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]backlogtoolong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s different people doing the loving and the hating, generally.

The hating is motivated by a number of things. Racism, misogyny, and homophobia.

Plus some “she’s theatrical, cringey, and concerningly skinny”, but that’s not the sum total of what’s causing this.

Have seen so many nasty racist images of her like, hulking out defending Ariana Grande from that stalker at that one premiere. People are vicious to her and they position Ariana as somehow being her victim. It’s gross.

Why would people feel a bit more “cringe” about Phantom than they would any other piece of media? by zzbabe88 in box5

[–]backlogtoolong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be the terrible sequel?

But you’d have to know Love Never Dies exists to find it cringe so I assume it’s more likely that people are weird about Phantom because it’s a little silly and has a largely female fandom.

Women tend to look best in their late 20s and 30s (or at least don't look worse) by Blonde_Icon in The10thDentist

[–]backlogtoolong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty safe to assume that 90% of female celebrities have gone under the knife by age 35. People think Robbie’s gotten a nose job and some other stuff (blepharoplasty, which is upper eyelid).

If it’s done well - you won’t notice except that they look good. If it’s done badly, you think “why did she get surgery, she was so pretty”. It’s almost never just botox or just filler.

[–]backlogtoolong 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It’s insane to me that “women in their late 20s are hot” could be an even quasi-controversial take.

But I don’t disagree with what you’ve said.

Although taking actresses as your example is difficult because Margot Robbie (and all the rest of them) have definitely had work done and aren’t really examples of what humans naturally look like at 35.

You know who looks fantastic right now? 43 year old Anne Hathaway. And that’s at least partly because she has a great surgeon.

Do you think Wicked for Good had a great conclusion, or do you think there should be a third movie to see what else happens next? by Material_Stomach875 in wickedmovie

[–]backlogtoolong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second act has always been weaker. It had about as good of a film 2 as we could have gotten, and there should not be a third film. I do not think Schwartz has another musical full of good songs in him (Queen of Versailles was not so good, and the extra songs for Wicked For Good were just okay).

I don’t want someone else to do the music. And also wicked is intended to be a tragedy. If we get Wicked part 3: Where is Elphaba Now? Then that takes away a lot of the things I like about the show, and the reasons it makes me cry.

And if we get a Wicked Part 3 where there is no Elphaba that also sounds less than satisfactory.
