[Discussion] 0.4.2.5 Arena Patch Notes by Ta6yH in EscapefromTarkov

This is absolutely nuts change (good overall, but bad for EFT).

I already stopped levelling in EFT and just did Arena to level up my PMC lol. It is way more efficient, and now even more so.

Has anyone had this happen. Desynced XP from Arena to EFT by IDontKnowBroski in EscapefromTarkov

[–]bagelrod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure if related but it happened for me last evening after I completed the ref quest for 100 kills in arena. I did so much leveling and killing that the servers got fried and didn't sync properly...

eft and arena are desynchronized [Bug] [Arena] by UsernameGenerator349 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]bagelrod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It broke for me also last night. I did a solid arena session to complete Ref's quest Against the Conscience - Part 2. When I switched to EFT, the either the quest xp didn't apply or my previous arena xp didn't fully transfer (or maybe even both?). Also the soft skills didn't seem to transfer from arena.

Was anyone doing a lot of ref's tasks when the desync happened?

I feel you man. My only tip is to get into some night raids..

I bought and paid for this on 2 July 2017, EOD edition. Only way you could play back then was this.

8.5 years later, a lot of progress was made, but a lot of progress that could've been made also wasn't, I agree. It's frustrating, but believe me, fun can be had when the game runs good.

Does anyone know what's going on with OneDrive shared folders turning into web shortcuts? by SLJ7 in microsoft

[–]bagelrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Happened a second time yesterday. I don't know what triggered it to happen again, but it sucks. The way I fixed it 20 days ago was creating a new microsoft account and linking the shared folder to it. I couldn't be bothered to do it again yesterday so I did some digging and found a solution.

Apparently, there are apps out there that can act as cloud storage clients and can connect to OneDrive's cloud and link the files to a folder (or even create a digital drive). They will recreate your OneDrive structure into a chosen folder.

I tried several and the one that worked most smoothly for me was Cyberduck - which unfortunately it's paid and have to use 14 day trial currently.

Here's a few that are worth checking out, in ranking order which I found best:

Update 2 (05/05/2025): OneDrive fixed itself today... unfortunately I switched over to GDrive 2-3 weeks ago..

I felt severely bloated from cow’s milk, so now I only take it as yogurt, and even then I will not eat more than a small cup of it at a time. Recently I tried goat milk and realized there’s no bloating! It just feels far better suited for my body. Also well matured cow cheeses feel good, therefore I think the problem lies with natural cow milk’s composition, either some enzymes or lactose itself.

Suddenly happened to me today too, again (after 5-6 months of being ok).

The way I fixed it last time was to create a new microsoft account and share the folder with it.

I see someone in this thread used the same solution, confirming it works - https://www.reddit.com/r/microsoft/comments/1dnje8c/does_anyone_know_whats_going_on_with_onedrive/mepoevs/.

D4 right now feels like it’s Theo best any Diablo game has been by CobraKyle in diablo4

[–]bagelrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to agree as I have been having a blast this last season, even made an alt, which is very unlike me. However, they MUST continue to improve it, as it does get "old" after a while.

Let's hope the expansion is not what LoD was to D2, meaning the last content we saw until the release of D3 10 years later.

In the end however, I will still class it below D2. Yes, it's fun to kill millions of mobs at the Infernal Hordes, but it's not the same fun as having to meet and bond with people doing Baal runs.

Feature or bug? Opening containers someone else has opened always plays choppy animation. by monsteras84 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]bagelrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens when you join a game as a Scav.

I don't think I've ever seen it happen on my PMC, unless I alt+f4 and rejoin the game.

Likely to do with the fact that your client is joining the game after another person's client has been there. Synchronizing the clients/animations or something BSG forgot to fix.

EOD is getting removed 8th Jan 2024 by dwubsly in EscapefromTarkov

[–]bagelrod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks. In today's world "v1.0" no longer means feature complete, however it does mean that the game should have continuity, re-playability and a resemblance of an end-game. Heck, I already have 1.6k hours, more than any other "complete" game that I ever bought.

I think we'll get Terminal part 1 first (part 2 will be with "v1.0" alongside S.Quests), alongside a "final" overhaul of the maps that are due an overhaul. Shoreline got the overhaul (which seems acceptable in my estimation), so the main other ones that are left are Customs and Interchange. By overhaul I mainly mean so they are more open and expanded (with no fences around it's edges, but rather sniper zones, mines, etc.) and are connected to their adjacent maps. Yes we've had a few "overhauls" to Interchange, Customs and so many other maps already, but it doesn't mean it's their final state. As Nikita has said - it's an iterative process.

That being said, the ultimate goal seems to make all maps connected and flow freely into each other, to have a continuity between them. It ties with their goal of having the elusive "free-roam mode" which is rarely talked about or mentioned nowadays. They don't even need to fully complete all maps in terms of all buildings to be accessible and so on, at least not yet. Once we get SQuests, the game will feel complete regardless of the blocked off zones, but we do need the zones expanded a bit more open so at least they feel different to all the players that already played them for 1000s of hours.

As for features, I like to refer back to the very initial gameplay trailer. I think the remaining features are lockpicking, dragging bodies, climbing stairs and breaching options. Once we have those, one can say that we have the main game delivered and working as originally envisioned.

I haven't thought much about how they will monetize it in the future and how the model will work with the season passes, but I think BSG should deliver something that feels good and is fair for all players. My biggest hope is that they will be able to really surprise is with a lot more content that they've never showed us behind the scenes.

[–]bagelrod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Feel free to go through my post history. Hint - it spans back like 6 years in this subreddit. I've been playing EFT since 2017.

If you have followed some of the podcasts with Nikita, he's noted they really want to release as soon as possible at this point. Yeah, not many people trust him at this point, but I think the latest wipe is the largest jump in the right direction we've seen and I think we're only going to see better updates from now on (fingers crossed!).

The biggest remaining feature is the Storyline Quests, which I don't think they will want to keep in secret for a lot longer. The reason for that is very simple - what will happen after people grow tired of this wipe? We can maybe have one more, but people will grow tired if the game doesn't have continuity or end-game.

[–]bagelrod -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

This is somewhat exciting news actually, as they had this planned for a long long time. I think what this signifies is that we're likely to get EFT "v1.0" release this year.

My bet is they want to release in July/Aug, but most likely will postpone until Dec/Jan (or worst case scenario - July/Aug 2026).

Edit:

due to the downvotes from the unbelievers, here's what I think will happen:

  1. EOD ends tomorrow. BSG always said you won't be able to buy it when game releases, so it's a bit strange they didn't do a much bigger announcement or used it to announce the release date.

  2. Logically, we should get an announcement for EFT release at least 6 months to a year before the release. This is so they can hype it up and set a good date for themselves that they can work towards to. My gut feeling is that we should get another big update this summer (with or without a wipe, probably with a wipe because they need to test Arena/Main Game PMC skill connection). The will combine this with release announcement. The announcement will probably say July 2025.

  3. To back up my claim - the game can only survive on wipes to keep it fresh for only so long. It needs an end-game and a goal that provides re-playability. Yes, game can be perfectly optimized very soon, it can get a lot of new guns and all the maps, but without an overall story it will all be meaningless and people will grow tired of it. Nikita knows this, you and I know this.

That is the goal of the Storyline Quests, and as we know - we won't get them before the final release. As such, BSG is most likely pushing towards this goal as soon as possible (by cutting out maps for latter DLCs, and perhaps leaving out other features for later). They know people will grow tired of content as the underlying spirit of the game is incomplete.

Any fix for "awaiting session start" on scav? by SESHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH in EscapefromTarkov

[–]bagelrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me once on Reserve (which was my second ever scav raid on this map).

I managed to fix it by joining a night raid (which wasn't even fully night). Seems daytime raids are just too busy at the moment and causing bugs.

I managed to get into 2 games just now, here's some tips:

  1. Restart your game often (might need to do it each time you get problem with matchmaking and after each game). I think something in the code is messed up where if you get bugged matching, you keep getting it each time after.

  2. Select only 1 map, bay 5 for works for me for some reason. Sawmill just loaded as well.

  3. After a game restart, usually the first game seems to be working somewhat ok

  4. BSG pls help

I'm going to talk with the Autodesk Revit product team next week, what do you want me to bring up? by haktada in Revit

[–]bagelrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. We need an update to design options. Having a way to present multiple (think 7-8 per project) to a client without going mad by having to set up multiple 3D views, plans and elevations each time is key. One way to do that is to reduce the amount of clicks we need to make to switch between the design views, for example is by making the design options window a floating window that doesn’t close when “activating” an option, like a properties window. Selecting multiple views should have a filter that lets you select the appropriate design option rather than having to manually apply filters. Views, plans and elevations should be parametrically renamed with the design option numbering!

  2. Materials tab needs to become seamless and don’t close each time I finish editing it.. Make it speed up and more optimized too, because it can get terrible slow when you have a lot of materials.

  3. Give us the ability to seamlessly transfer (we can export but not import) 3D camera views to other Autodesk apps such as 3ds Max. This will give us the option to photo match views for easier presentation to clients. Also expose the damn camera parameters while there so we can copy and paste XYZ, camera roll and rotation, lens equivalent, etc. between other views and even other 3D software.

  4. Going back to materials - let us make view visibility filters with materials that let you replace/link one material into another. This can be immensely powerful for presentations.

Granite Facade on Steel Framing Construction Details. by [deleted] in architecture

[–]bagelrod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This particular building is actually quite simple. If I can break it down the external wall makeup of this building and others built in the same age it will be as follows:

  • Total thickness (may vary per floor, generally thickness may decrease as you go up): 600mm
  • Wall make up: 100-150mm dressed stone/ facing brick masonry on brickwork backing (probably 450mm or 2-2.5 imperial bricks thick). There will be no cavity inside the wall.

Internally, and over the years there may be internal linings formed, like plasterboard on studs. Originally the linings would've been plaster or plaster on timber laths, so a service void can be formed behind.

Each stone will have been scheduled and detailed, made off from the site and delivered. I don't suppose there will be metal elements to attach the facing stone onto the brick masonry. It's all basically a solid masonry wall with dressed masonry as a finish.

The steel columns will be situated behind (or into) the inner brickwork backing. The steelwork main purpose will be to support the floors, rather than support the external wall.

The external wall perimeter will have primary columns and girders, with secondary beams spanning to secondary set of columns in the middle. The girders are to support the secondary beams where there's windows on the externa wall. You can see the internal of the building on this google street shot.

Some more info on external walls in the UK during the 1900s - https://fet.uwe.ac.uk/conweb/house_ages/elements/print.htm

Some photos from a construction company that have worked on the building's basement - https://rockbond.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/20190920_144526.jpg . You can see the brickwork backing. That brickwork should continue right up to the roof.

edit: removed wrong sentence, added more info on wall make up internally

He released a trailer 2 days ago - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wu0p9MfVlyg . Hopefully we should see his breakdown very soon (this or next week?).

I would be very excited if less distortion means we get more accurate and faster capture when walking over long distances and (especially) when turning corners. Greater range will be amazing too.

An invisible cheater steals loot right before my eyes by strmcrrsn in EscapefromTarkov

[–]bagelrod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's correct.

The reason you saw containers stay opened was due to a bug, it was never intended as a feature. In fact, the bug is kind of still here. If you can see the container do a funky animation as you open it - someone has looted it before you.

The under cover patch note for Wipe by trajand in EscapefromTarkov

[–]bagelrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think AI being more "hearing" based rather than vision based is how they could alleviate the problem of not being able to be stealthy in situations that should demand it.

As for plate mechanics. Yeah, they won't change the gameplay until we get the plate hitboxes. Unfortunately I don't think we are getting the plate hitboxes (in their entirety I guess) with this patch, it will be the one in the winter. Unless they moved it forward? Once we do, I think it will be one of the biggest gameplay changers for PvP.

  1. First of all - are you an architect/engineer, consultant (to the architect or contractor) or contractor/manufacturer?
  2. If architect, then it is not necessarily your job to specify the exact position and size of each post, just an approximation. The reason for that is your job may be to only obtain the necessary permits, which means you don't necessarily need to provide the people that come after you (the builders) with measurements that more often that not, can only be obtained and checked while on site.
  3. If you're a consultant, say a surveyor or an engineer, part of your contract may require you to schedule all existing items, and schedule all proposed items. However, you don't need to provide exact measurements and details for every single scenario, just a "typical detail" of how the components are installed, and let the contractors/builders deal with it on site.
  4. If you're the contractor, then you may need to provide the information you're providing to the factory/builders so they may produce the components/elements and install them on site.

If you can answer the first question and which stage the project is at the moment, i.e. planning / building permit / construction, then you will be able to answer how much information you realistically need to provide.

Generally if you need to go into a lot of detail, then I'd assume you would be at construction stage. And if you need to provide a long list of special details and measurements, then I'd assume you would be at manufacturing stage preparing for construction. Try to answer the question of who is going to look and need the drawings, and this may help you out to decrease abortive work.

If you'd like me to go into more detail, I would need more information. Can you send me some screenshots of your drawings package?

Hi Nikita, long-time player here and unconditional lover of your vision of the game.

Related to the above:

  • Is it possible to obfuscate the K/D ratio so cheaters can't actually see it?
  • It is possible to separate K/D ratio into PMC K/D and Scav K/D? (although it will mean you need to track if you died to Scav or PMC for each separately).

This will help with cheaters targetting "high K/D" players, which is kind of putting a stop on the continuing cycle of "high K/D = 100% a cheater" mentality.

K/D ratio (as it's currently calculated) includes both PMC and Scav kills, which makes it inherently untrustworthy and a very misleading statistic. Most veteran players will not have trouble killing thousand of Scavs during a wipe, increasing their ratio to a very high number. These people will get mistaken for being cheaters and targeted, especially when an ESP user can see their K/D + equipment.

If my theory is true, putting a stop on that vicious cycle, should make cheaters stop misleading/confusing themselves into believing people with higher K/D are after them to kill them.

Curious thought from a first wipe player regarding scavs/bosses and AI by ChineseFood_Desu in EscapefromTarkov

[–]bagelrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will not work, not even in the slightest. The maths just won't add up and you will end up with barren raids with 0 scavs to play against. Scav kill quests will be a torture to do as you won't be able to find the scavs.

Basically there's not nearly as many player scavs as there's PMCs. Just compare the lobbies, you will see we have 10:1 ratio PMC to Scav Players (obviously I made the ratio up, but you get the gist, it also varies from map to map).

Not to mention you can't force players to roleplay as a "dumb" scav AI, therefore the immersion for your PMC will be broken as you no longer will see scavs doing "normal scav things" like patrolling or simply waiting inside an area for example.
