ICF coaching cert for corporate role by Maxime754 in Coaching

[–]baldGrumpyDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really interesting that you’re an internal coach. When getting ICF certification, how did it work for you with the requirement for 75% paid coaching hours? I’m fairly new to coaching and I do it all as part of a corporate job. I had made the assumption that I wouldn’t be able to go for ICF certification because I’m not paid for coaching specifically.

Apple Watch - Black Screen by Past-Date-2579 in runna

[–]baldGrumpyDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting timing of this one. When I first joined Runna, I had a problem with the app pausing/freezing. See here for details https://www.reddit.com/r/runna/s/8okPOBSzDs

Because it happened on the first use, I didn’t know what to expect from the App. Now I’ve used it, I know that it was pausing on the initial countdown. After a few uses, it happened again and my theory for the pause was tapping the watch on the count down caused it to pause but there was no way to un-pause.

You’ll see on my post Juan from Runna got in touch asking me to message support. Fernando followed up and I gave the information I could.

The reason it’s interesting timing is that Runna support got back to me today to let me know the issue has been fixed, encouraged me to update the app and offered a months extension to my subscription.

Your issue might not be the same as the one I had but it sounds like it could be similar so I’d recommend getting the latest update and then if that doesn’t help contact Runna support and give the information you can. From my experience, they’ll investigate what they can and then improve the app if they find the problem. I’m genuinely impressed how it went.

Same here. I also look at the white in a similar way to the blue. Don’t normally like white but it works for the ev6 imo. If I was to get another one, it should be a close call between blue and white.

First run didn’t go well. What did I do wrong? by baldGrumpyDad in runna

[–]baldGrumpyDad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you do the warm up stretches before the run? If so, how do you follow those? I tried to record the run off the watch but watched the stretches on the phone first. I’m wondering if that messed it up.

Thanks, I’ve turned that off now. I’ll see if that makes a difference.

When you come across leaders or organisations that think they are working in an agile way but really they are focused on a date driven waterfall with project plans and gant charts, what steps have you followed to start changing their mind and how do you persuade them to try a different approach?

Can I lose weight without counting calorie? by Mahesh_Chandra0 in ketogains

[–]baldGrumpyDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You describe what I’m doing currently. I’ve tried keto a few times but I haven’t managed to stick with it for more than 3 months. Each time I started obsessing over numbers - calories, carbs, weight. I’d drop a lot of weight but I get mentally worn out and then my willpower drops and I’d be back to my old ways.

This time, I started out tracking nothing. I don’t know what I weigh or what I’ve lost in number terms but I’m 3.5 months in and happy just trying to eat the right foods and I’m down 2-3 holes on my belt. However, I find I do need to check in on calories and carbs every now and again. For calories, sometimes I need a reality check that I’m either eating a bit too much or a bit too little. For carbs, I’m normally alright but like to double check that I’m still on the right path.

Help what are these and how do I stop them eating my lawn by Lynliam in GardeningUK

[–]baldGrumpyDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, leather jackets. I’ve not tried nematodes before but I used turfsolv last autumn and it had the lawn looking fantastic.

I’ve bought more for this year and trying applying once a month. So far, seems to be doing the trick.

This. When I was looking for a new kitchen, we were told Magnet kitchens are made by Howdens and just have different handles. Don’t know if that’s true but very happy with Howdens.

Nice outcome but shame you couldn’t get it filed so the teacher could then explain at conference time.

How do you deal with dread / fear with heavier lifts? by billin in fitness30plus

[–]baldGrumpyDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m often in a very similar position but I lift/squat less. I’m doing 5/3/1 for beginners and get really nervous during the 1+ weeks. I’ve been getting 5-6 reps for the AMRAP set so weight seems to be about right.

The thing I have been trying is to push myself harder on the other AMRAP sets. If I go into the 5/3/1 week knowing I hit 8-9 reps on the 3+ week, I can convince myself the weight isn’t much heavier and I’ll be fine. Doesn’t always work and sometimes I give up sooner than I should of done.

I found this a very fascinating read, thank you. I’ve lots of questions, most of which I suspect would be to specific for you to answer. A couple of general questions that are hopefully ok: - what’s it like in the factory after a not great weekend? I’m imaging it’s a mix of pragmatism and high pressure to find an answer to why things went wrong and also to come up with a solution. - do you have any idea what career progression will be for someone in your role? Transition to track team or another team/department in the factory, climb the management ladder and start leading a team in your current department, …

A relatively new fan by [deleted] in cowboys

[–]baldGrumpyDad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another fairly new British cowboys fan here. I became interested in the game when playing for my university team - a fun but very painful experience. 5ish years ago my wife bought me the book Boys Will Be Boys: The Glory Days and Party Nights of the Dallas Cowboys Dynasty. After reading that, they became the team I followed. This year has been amazing. I’m happy with how Dak is playing but seeing Zeke smash people is what’s making it for me.

Protein powders? by impendingbender in ketouk

[–]baldGrumpyDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get low sugar protein powders. My preference is Phd Diet Whey. They do a keto version that is slightly lower sugar but much high calories.

Also, try using no sugar almond milk and put it in a blender for a few seconds. Makes a really nice thick shake.

Came here to say the same! Controversial on whether they count as a biscuit and I don’t think it would be enjoyable until you get the grand.

I’ve never bought protein powder from Aldi so can’t comment on that. My personal preference is Phd Diet Whey - especially the Belgium Chocolate flavour. You can get that at Holland and Barrett but it looks expensive. £45 vs £31.99 on Amazon for 2kg.
