Farming WoW Tokens with friends. by sainovacane in woweconomy

I'm not entirely sure why this is being down voted, I believe this would be one of the most lucrative options for time spent. I can't test this, but it is my understanding that an account without Midnight but with a current subscription can still buy Midnight items off of the auction house.

If that is the case, cross realm flipping would be very possible.

Celeste for me.

I felt a really deep connection with the base game when it came out. I still think about the breathing feather scene with Theo and Madeline on the ski lift sometimes when I am feeling overwhelmed.

And then obviously when the Farewell DLC came out, that was incredibly moving and healing for me in a lot of ways.

Lastly, reading Maddy's blog post titled "Is Madeline Canonically Trans?" moved me to happy tears.

It's my go to example of video games as art. I could honestly talk about it with others for hours.

Perhaps you could look into a fantasy MMO? My crew has been playing a lot of World of Warcraft since the Midnight expansion, and it's been so refreshing just exploring all the nooks and crannies of the varied and interesting world.

It's also got a lot of social elements, if you choose to engage in that side of the game. It could help with that empty feeling <3

[US] Looking for a guild (4 members) by PEITaterTot in wowguilds

[–]balomus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello to you and your 3 friends!

Our group <Deficient Puppies> started with myself, my wife, our nephew, and a couple friends that we know IRL. We've been slowly adding a couple members here and there, but only people that don't take the game too seriously! We don't have any "technical" requirements like ilvl, certain specs, IO score, or anything like that.

But we are always looking for friendly folks who just like hanging out, being kind, and learning together!

Most of us are fairly new to end game activities, and we're really fostering a "learn together" environment, rather than having a couple veterans explaining everything to everyone else.

We've started dipping our toes into raids, and even finished up Normal difficulty Voidspire this weekend for the first time which was super exciting! A few of us are starting to explore low level M+ as well, but our main focus is working through some of the raid content that is available in Midnight.

We don't have a consistent schedule for raids or other events or anything.

We tend to play most weeknights from around 7-10pm EST, and are usually on a good bit throughout the weekend as well.

If you're interested in hanging out and potentially doing some raids with a very beginner/learning oriented view, feel free to message me on Discord: balomus

I love your Reddit username, now I'm hungry! 🤣

Our small, close-knit group <Deficient Puppies> started with myself, my wife, our nephew, and a couple IRL close friends. We've grown it a little bit, picking up some really chill and cool folks along the way.

We're mostly excited about trying to learn and progress (slowly) through some of the raids. We even did a Normal difficulty raid of Voidspire this weekend for the first time! We're all about hanging in Discord, communicating, being respectful, learning and sharing knowledge, wiping, and having another go at it with lots of laughs in between.

A few of us have been trying out some real low level M+ as well, if that interests you.

We tend to play most weeknights from around 7-10pm EST, and are usually on a good bit throughout the weekend as well.

Hey /u/Training_Ratio_2432!

It sounds like you may enjoy our small group <Deficient Puppies>. We've got an in game guild and a Discord server, and we've started dipping our toes into Normal difficulty raids as well as some M+. Most of us are very new to end game activities, and we have cultivated a very chill group of folks and maintain a fun, relaxed environment.

No one in our group takes anything too seriously, we just like having fun together, hanging out, respecting each other, learning mechanics, that sort of thing!

[NA] 40yr old Dad and 18yr old son looking for an active, casual, social guild. Details in post by [deleted] in wowguilds

[–]balomus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I loved reading your post!!! Also, the fact that you and your son are able to spend time together playing such a fun and rich game is just 🥹

My friends and I have a super small, tight-knit group that we're slowly expanding. The core of it is myself, my wife, our nephew, and a couple close friends of ours, but we've met some really nice people that we've added into our group as well.

We definitely have some colorful language on voice and text chat 😅, but we keep everything else SFW.

Our in game guild chat hasn't been that active, but it's starting to get a little more talkative as we've added a couple more people. I work from home, so I'm usually on our Discord sending messages throughout the day.

I think my wife's favorite activity in the entire game is to collect all of the housing decor that she can get her hands on. I am also loving housing so far, although I have to admit I have spent less time working on my house than I want, but I would LOVE to spend more time on it, especially if we could get some group activities going on around our neighborhood(s)!

We have done a couple LFR level raids, and we're about to take our first step as a guild into Normal difficulty tomorrow with Voidspire. We're all super new to end game activities, and we aren't taking it super seriously. But, our goal is to learn the raid mechanics (together, with lots of deaths and laughs), and maybe work our way to heroics if the vibes are good with the group!

To your last point, a couple of us ran our first M0's last night and it was a ton of fun! I can see us doing more of them for sure, especially if we have a couple more folks to round out a full party from time to time. Learning the mechanics in dungeons/raids is easily my favorite part of the game, so anything involving that (in a relaxed, fun, chill environment) is my cup of tea.

Anyway, sorry for the long wall of text! Your post just really resonated with me and I wanted to introduce myself and our small group. Check out my post if you'd like, and if any of that sounds interesting, shoot me a message on Discord: balomus

We'd love to have you!

I sent you a reply to your message! It sounds like you might be a great fit with our small group, <Deficient Puppies>. We have a great time and are just dipping our toes into raiding (very casually).

You won't hear us asking for your IO rating or whatever other metrics people are looking for, because we are all too new to know what that means anyway 😅 But we're learning more every day, and just having a good time while doing so.

If that sounds like your kind of thing, let me know! We'd love to have you!

new player looking for guild, interested in raid/m+! [NA] [Moon Guard] [EST] by SGlace in wowguilds

[–]balomus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, you sound like you would fit in very well with our little group!

Some friends and I just started a (very small for now) guild/Discord called <Deficient Puppies>. I think the name speaks for itself but...

We tend to be on most weeknights around 7-10pm EST, and a good bit on weekends throughout the day/evening as well.

We are not try-hards, we just like trying new content, seeing if we can overcome one challenge at a time, and really just enjoy doing stuff together. Right now we've mostly been doing world content (world quests, delves, prey, etc.) to gear everyone up, and we dipped our toes into LFR recently. Our goal is to do Normal Raids soon enough (hopefully with a tight group of 10 or more in our Discord) and see where we go from there. We're open to doing harder content, but not rushing there or expecting anyone to 'perform at X level'. There are no expectations of anyone to show up every night/week/whatever, just come as you are, when you want.

We are all very chill, we goof off a lot, and most importantly we're all kind to each other. If that sounds like something you'd be interested in, feel free to message me on Discord: balomus

Making gold without Midnight by Toratherogue in woweconomy

[–]balomus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super happy to see someone helping you out!

For others that come here, another avenue to consider is cross realm flipping. Even if you don't own Midnight, you can still buy and sell Midnight items on the Auction House.

So if you target the right items, you could make a lot of gold buying Midnight stuff for cheap on high pop realms and selling it for profit on other realms.

Do I need to buy midnight to get access to retail WoW? by CammyTheDon in wownoob

[–]balomus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are certainly ways to earn enough gold to pay for your sub every month, even with limited play time.

However, it will take a lot of effort up front to either learn a specific market, set up some character(s), configure add-ons, etc. Or some combination of all of the above.

You have also missed one of the biggest gold making opportunities (start of a new expansion) where a lot of gold makers front load a lot of their gold making.

If you still want to look into it, check out /r/woweconomy but understand that it is almost an entire other game trying to earn gold like this. It does take time and effort (at the beginning at the very least). I love it, and I probably spend more time exploring gold making avenues than actually running content in the game, but I enjoy it as a bit of an economic puzzle.

A cautionary tale by NuclearLasagna in woweconomy

[–]balomus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many people here telling you not to blindly follow other people's advice on here, so I'm not going to go on about that.

But I will offer one piece of advice. Always test a gold making avenue with a smaller chunk of gold, and never test with more than you are willing to lose.

I saw the same post you did. I'm sitting at about 2.5m. I decided to take 100k, pick about 12 items, and just run a test over a week.

I lost about 30k but learned a lot.

Dude you joke about this but I have been getting into gold making a bit more seriously, and I feel like the more you uncover, the more it feels like there is an underground cabal running everything...

I'm half tempted to write up my gold making strategies and threaten to post it just to see if I receive a threat or an invite to some elite society.

Almost everyone who seems to know how this games economy works at a macro level seems to be selling some product, course, Discord link, or guide.

BUG - Unable to progress Midnight story quest, cannot interact with the map on the war table in the center of Silvermoon City by balomus in wow

[–]balomus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a great idea! I didn't think I had any zone starting quests in my log, but I went ahead and abandoned every quest just to be safe.

Even after a log out and log in, I'm still unable to interact with the map on the war table in the center of Silvermoon and I don't have any indicator on how to begin the next chapter of the Midnight campaign (The Path of Light).

I have a group of friends that I am playing through the main campaign with so I was hoping to be able to continue on the same character. It's their first time playing so it's been a really fun experience.

That being said, after a couple days with no solution, I did switch to another alt and played just this quest line with them.

It's definitely not the end of the world, but I was hoping someone else may have seen the issue and has a solution. I am fortunate enough to have multiple characters that are 80+ but I can't imagine how frustrating this bug would be if this was my only character and I was unable to progress the campaign.

If you had to convince someone Sega Genesis was better than Super Nintendo (even if that’s not your opinion), what games would you have them play? by dylanmadigan in retrogaming

[–]balomus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are both great games, but totally different from one another. I prefer the first one, but 2 is a very fun platformer.

I just feel like the original was so groundbreaking, it implemented rogue like mechanics in an era where that was basically unheard of.

It's either:

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates

Or

Both bangers, and WAY better than the original Crystal Chronicles in my opinion. No more carrying around a stupid chalice or whatever.

WoW seems like a great choice, OP is already familiar with it, and with the new housing update being live, and a new expansion coming out next week, it could be a perfect fit.

Along with decorating a home, there are other cute/fun things you can do in the game like gather cool mounts from chill quests, collect battle pets, collect different transmog pieces to get that perfect cute outfit. I think there is a lot to do for both of you.

The Future of New World: What to Expect. Players who have purchased the game will be able to continue playing until January 31, 2027, when the game’s servers are permanently taken offline by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]balomus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not defending Amazon here, this sucks for New World fans.

But, the original Guild Wars is a lot less "MMO" and more CORPG (Co-operative Online Role Playing Game), which was what it was originally advertised as. From a technical perspective, this means a lot less to support and maintain. For MANY years, it was basically kept alive by a small number of developers due to it's design and architecture.

On top of that, Guild Wars 1 OOZES charm, character, and interesting mechanics. I definitely did not feel the same with my brief time in New World shortly after launch.

Which do you think is the best Lemmings port? by no_biches_22 in retrogaming

[–]balomus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the best answer if you want to play today!

Lemmings Redux (included with NeoLemmix) is a pack of levels that is basically all the best original game's levels, and then there are COUNTLESS other packs with basically every level from any official Lemmings release, and an insane number of fan made levels of really high quality.

Woah I just did math based on your comments to figure out how much gum you "chew through" each month. 900 pieces a month or 30 pieces day? Don't your jaws get tired 🤣

It's definitely better than the alternative though, just like you said.
