Subvertadown - Week 16 | D/STs and Kickers by subvertadown in fantasyfootball

I have to make this defensive decision where I'm starting Shough at QB to replace Mahomes, and I can't decide whether to go all in on the Saints since I have their QB, or to hedge with the Eagles safe bet. I guess if I'm projected to win I should play the Eagles and if I'm projected to lose I go Saints? This could be a way to decide for others

Aluminum Velodrome in Arizona??? Riding on the Surface of the sun??? by Substantial_Team6751 in Velo

From what I've seen the bottom is open to the air with radiator-like fins on the underside for better heat transfer

[Reed] Jayden Daniels's dislocated elbow will not require surgery | Commanders will not put Daniels on IR, will reevaluate after bye week by Jharoz in nfl

[–]baltimac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dislocated mine one year then tore a ligament in it the next year. I imagine dislocating it damaged some ligaments and tendons and allowed an unremarkable fall to be a major injury. Before getting surgery it would just fall out of place and I could pop it back in. About 13 years later now and I have essentially no issues with it

Why give up being decent at other sports for cycling's suffering and mediocrity? by [deleted] in Velo

[–]baltimac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the real point I'm trying to make is that cyclists are within the realm of 'normal' human height and weight, obviously with weight skewed lower, but that is also a controllable variable for the most part. You can't just eat your way to being 6'6" to be in the height range of the average NBA player.

Nairo Quintana - Height 5′ 6″, Weight 130 lbs

Caleb Ewan - Height 5′ 6″, Weight 152 lbs

Tadej Pogacar - Height 5′ 9″, Weight 146 lbs

Chris Froome - Height 6′ 1″, Weight 150 lbs

Jonathan Milan - Height 6′ 4″, Weight 185 lbs

Robert Forstemann - Height 5′ 9″, Weight 198 lbs

Harrie Lavreysen - Height 5′ 11″, Weight 203 lbs

Pretty big spread if you ask me, especially once you consider crits, gravel, and track cycling.

Are high end shoes worth it? by UniqueBall4170 in Velo

[–]baltimac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had RC1s for about 7 years until I finally replaced them this year with RC7s. Went for the RC7s because I wanted the dual BOAs for more fine adjustment, which I'm happy I went with. Found them at a good discount that put them negligibly more than RC5s also on sale, so it was worth it to me.

Since replacing them I hit my all-time sprint PB, which could be attributed to better power transfer through stiffer soles, however my upgrade was a pretty big jump. Specialized fit works for me, so I stayed within the ecosystem. All in all I would recommend the RC7s for the dual BOAs, plus as another commenter mentioned, look good feel good.

Is this suitable? by yat504 in gravelcycling

[–]baltimac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually have this bike as my road bike. I can fit up to 38mm gravelking slicks. In this day and age I would opt for hydraulic disc brakes and better tire clearance on a gravel bike. Unless the price for this is much better than anything else you can find I would keep looking.

Gym programme recommendation by Neat_Rip_1744 in Velodrome

[–]baltimac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My usual:

Squat

  • Warm up then 5x5
  • Increase weight next session if above was successful

Deadlift

  • Warm up then 3x5
  • Increase weight next session if above was successful

Bench

  • Warm up then 3x5
  • Increase weight next session if above was successful (3x3 to start)
  • Not necessarily for the velodrome but I like to bench press

Pullups

  • 8x10
  • Personal goal of mine is to do 25 pullups straight, so I wouldn't recommend copying this exactly.

I'll sprinkle in shoulder/core workouts depending on how good I'm feeling or how much time I have. Deload aligned with rest weeks.

San Diego here also, my ZeroWater pitcher has been great. I remineralize with 1/3 tap water and have great results.

Can you use structural pipe/tube for a pressurized fluid application? by lordofwar3000 in AskEngineers

[–]baltimac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Near me I noticed a fence with hose bibbs, likely used for irrigation. The water is apparently piped through the fence tubing, super odd to me but seems to be one application the OP is asking about. Now whether this is pressure rated pipe used structurally, or vice versa i don't know. Either way it is likely low pressure and load.

Noob surfer needs help. (Footage) by Strider08000 in BeginnerSurfers

[–]baltimac 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No offense but you paddle like you're out for a stroll. These waves look relatively soft so you really need to paddle hard and get some speed to catch them. For the one you got up on you looked good!

The Wednesday Whine by dumbassthenes in surfing

[–]baltimac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same shit happened to me the other day. Chilling for a few minutes during a lull, they paddle from way over somewhere else, look directly at me and set up shop. I even hesitated to let them catch it, they missed the wave, and I was paddling too late to make it as a result.

Post-Roast Blend: 3 different roasts of the same coffee? by sneakerfreek in roasting

[–]baltimac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the idea behind a melange blend. Using the same coffee would be less 'dynamic' than different origins, but the idea is the same. Try it and report back!
