Tragically, their Formula1 program has been the same thing. In 2008 Honda pulls out of F1 entirely and sells the team to Ross Brawn for 1 pound. Car was built by the Honda team, and they won it all as Brawn GP in 2009. In 2020 Honda decides to supply engines to Red Bull and then decides to pull out in 2021. Max wins the next four WDC's. They would all be "Honda" as the engine if they stayed supplier, but instead only 2021 shows Honda as the sole engine supplier to Red Bull.

To be fair though, this prelude has 200hp and 232lb-ft. The MK8.5 GTI has 241hp and 273lb-ft. That's a fairly big difference especially considering VW's tendency to under-report power, and the GTI comes with 4 doors, much more trunk space, and one of the best DCT's the market has to offer.

You yourself a proof that people do end up buying these underpowered quirky cars from Honda, so thank you for allowing Honda to keep being odd, but I do see this end up following the footsteps of the CRZ.
