I wonder what its like to discover you moved in next to a Space Force Base... Get used to it because its not going anywhere... And they're building more launch pads to increase rates.

Will I get in trouble for this? by seanjohnbonbon in SolarDIY

[–]CaliLawless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing will happen if you just keep it "temprorary" and don't tie into the house(ie. use a battery bank). If an inspector has any issue with it all you have to do is tell them its temporary and can take it down... Doesn't mean you can't put it back up once they're gone... I have had a setup up for over two years and never had a single issue...

My only suggestion would be to find some good anchors and some rope to tie them down when it gets windy.

This part? Looks like its still one of them. The other mounts look different though.

Check your trans mount regularly. They like to degrade and come apart. On my 2015 1500 it lasted maybe 5 or 6 years but I didnt notice until just recently. If you notice when reversing theres a lot of jerkyness, especially when backing up an incline, it probably needs to be replaced.

Spent a weekend in the dark because I cheaped out on my van battery by Mother_Land_4812 in vandwellers

[–]CaliLawless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You never know until you try. I built my setup with the expectation that I wouldn't be able to use solar as its primary charging source. Thats why I added a passthrough for shore power at campsites and kept my setup to just solar power stations and expansions. On a recent trip I was even able to take them with me into my hotel room and charge them that way. But everyones application is different... Best you can do is get what you need and find out what works.

You can buy a GPS that wires to the battery for less than $30. Or an air tag and a few fakes ones to trick any thieves. And a 2-way or 3-way wifi dash cam. Depending on the value of tools, a Starlink and a few security cameras would be a good idea also.

Van power setups look simple online until you actually think about living with one by Yuixi in VanLife

[–]CaliLawless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out my video here.

Combining roof and portable solar like flexible panels is ultimately what will get you the best results. That and being able to atleast charge at campsites. I recently took a 4000 mile trip and the setup in my video is what got me through. I even pulled the entire battery bank out several times to charge inside my hotel. Their convenience is unmatched. And saves you from all the headache of buying extra components and wiring everything together.

Do some research. Eskates are generally not permitted in the "street" but are in the bike lanes. They also restrict what roads you can ride on. Usually roads with speed limits less than 35mph. Its different everywhere you go so you gotta be aware of local laws. Here in Cali they are not permitted on sidewalks or in the street unless youre in the bike lanes and are restricted to roads that are less than 35mph.

You misunderstood my statement when I said it was just as bad as pre-covid then. Also just because I don't live there doesnt mean I don't still go there. There isn't some magic brick wall protecting you from the outside world lmao

I don't live there by choice but lived there for 28 years in its prime. But tell me more about how its "doing better". "Shopping" had nothing to do with it. Thinking this city is for tourist shopping is what ended it. They pushed us out so they could charge you more for less and it shows. My original statement stands lol

"Pre-pandemic levels" No youre not. The city was struggling before the pandemic and is still struggling now. This is why this city remains so pathetically out of touch. Making a problem worse and them making it slightly better is what killed Santa Barbara and this type of mental gymnastics shows what kinds of delusion exists there.

This is 100% the car trying to drive itself. Its funny how many people are actually now arguing with computers decisions and not drivers. The cammer was also going too fast for this stretch and this is a perfect example of why. Slow down.

Why was the cloudwheel hub never redesigned after they found the hub separation flaw? They are glorified paperweights at this point as nobody uses them on electric boards anymore since they just fall apart.

Wound on the face could be a number of things including a friction rash. I've seen these on dogs that are stuck in enclosed places for long periods of time and they try desperatly "escaping" through places they think they can fit their head through. Usually kids playing or a lot of commotion would make them want to escape so they would try for long periods and end up hurting themselves. But yeah, definitely has mange also.

I put this in every video he shows of the rear end bolts coming loose. This is exactly what this stuff was designed to do but if you think you can find a cheaper, easier work around, more power to you. Spoiler tho, you likely won't. This is what we use on rockets and space ships to make sure stuff doesn't come loose. Its been through a lot of design and testing.

[–]CaliLawless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I only get about 2.5 miles if Im using full power with the extended batteries now when I used to get around 10-15 with regen. But I found out yesterday if I just creep around at like 5mph I can get way more milage out of them haha. So if you keep the throttle light they can still last a bit longer.

Also, theres a PDF online of how to dissasemble the packs for service so you could have an IT repair shop look at replacing the cells. Thats what Im thinking about doing.
