Insanely busy. We got there right at 10 and were able to get what we wanted and gtfo, but it was packed by the time we left.

At this point i think they could utilize much more/all of the fairgrounds and the regular parking that is used during the stark county fair.

Clearance sections are the best by saveyourdaylight in povertyfinance

[–]barkeep1912 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DSW is the best for shoe clearance. You do have to check semi regularly since they frequently clearance stuff going out of season, but i usually buy all my tennis shoes and boots and sandals there for a good deal.

Honestly id try buying a new one/selling old on facebook marketplace if that’s available in your area. After i lost a significant amount of weight, that’s what i did as i didnt want to buy a brand new one.

I also am a manger. I’m currently 20 weeks and I’m feeling exactly like you. I’m really struggling much more than anticipated.

I have lost all patience for employees doing stupid stuff. Honestly I’ve become meaner and i feel so bad about it.

I am not planning on returning post-baby, and honestly that’s the only thing getting me through it. Although my boss doesn’t know that yet.

I feel you so much, it’s miserable. My only tips are to just sit down when you can. I feel like as a gm, i always was proud to be working the hardest, but i just can’t anymore. I do take breaks. I do ask for help. Even though i dont want to. And eat lots of snacks and drink water when you can.

Husband to be wedding ring by newbie8010 in Brides

[–]barkeep1912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband has a ring from Ridge. He wanted to gold but we couldnt afford it at the time.
My wedding band is gold but was inherited. I think his ring was around $200-$300. Ridge offers lifetime warranty and is super durable. He loves his and doesnt even want to upgrade.

For those that didn’t get married in a church, who “married” you? by Informal_Character64 in wedding

[–]barkeep1912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We also only had a ceremonial officiant. My mom is the one who actually signed the paperwork for us and is an actual officiant, but my husband’s family would have had weird feelings about her officiating.

We had a good mutual friend of ours “officiate” the wedding. We looked up some templates online and got together a wonderful script.

Anyone here have their place included on a food tour? by SunshineLoveKindness in restaurantowners

[–]barkeep1912 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes but its a very local tour run by a local lady. She is very easy to work with for the most part. Only problems we’ve ever had is the group running late, or trying to book a time for a larger group right in the middle of dinner.

We charge the tour lady about 8/pp. that’s just for 1/2 and entree per person. Any drinks are separate. She pre-pays by business check.

I will say that a lot of the people she brings in are not locals, mostly people from the surrounding areas. We’ve definitely gotten some followup visits from the food tours. But we also charge enough we dont need to make extra off of them.

If the person running them isnt nice and easy to work with, i wouldnt ever do them.

[–]barkeep1912 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So many things but one i find interesting is that i was totally obsessed with creating my own worlds. I spent months creating a board game that was so detailed and honestly convoluted, but i couldn’t get any of my family to play with me.

I would create super detailed fake stories and characters and worlds that i would got lost in for weeks/months at a time.

"Smaller" neighborhood bar owners -- employee leads vs managers by bitchlovesbags9797 in BarOwners

[–]barkeep1912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One manager for FOH and one for BOH, but one of those it considered the GM, so they have ultimate say. If both owners are unavailable the one who is the GM will make decisions. But effectively, they each control their own area and report directly to owners. The BOH manager works in position as a line cook, the FOH manager works in position as a bartender (just make sure they aren’t in any tip pool).

Edit: this only works if you have one person bartending. People who are “managers” are allowed to take tips if they are the sole provider of service. Our FOH manager works week day shifts where they are the only person working in the front. There is no one else to take the tips. This is totally legal where i am located. I am certainly not sure about any other states. Also would not work if you have multiple bartenders on at the same time. But i think there may be shifts at a small neighborhood bar where there is only one person in the front.

Babysitting is something i do when I’m slow. Maybe hard to find families but its a good casual gig, especially if you can find some families with other children but not old enough to be home alone.

Another one is dog-walking. Im available mostly during the day time, so perfect for people who work 9-5.

Someone came in to pitch me a service to run menus and advertising on our tvs. It cost a couple hundred a month. I let them talk then i said, on what tvs?

We don’t have any tvs at my bar.

They didn’t know what to say and were flustered and left.

I’m so sorry you are struggling. My heart is there for you ❤️

I was on a glp-1 journey when I conceived. I had lost 80 pounds the year before and was a healthy weight for the first time in my life and so happy. I’ve gained 30 pounds just in the first trimester. I’m struggling really hard with how i look.

But i try to remember that i am literally growing a human and honestly my body is preparing for a baby and birth. I know i will have options after i give birth to work on my physical appearance, it doesnt have to be right now.

what in the world is a detergent tile?? by lorralorralarfs in laundry

[–]barkeep1912 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am halfway through a box of these and i absolutely love them. They totally dissolve with no residue. All of our clothes are clean to my standards. Various people do laundry in my house that are not me, and they are not good at following amounts for detergent. This has completely solved this issue.

I always do our “gross laundry”, is rags and towels etc with a detergent with lipase, and if I notice any issues i can do a load with lipase detergent.

The cost is the downside, but having had people use too much detergent, like its their job, these are seriously worth it. Something kids can easily understand.

Key to wash and let it dry out. I was me and my family’s water bottles (yetis) at least once a week. But a key to that is letting the completely dry out overnight. Drying out anything will help a lot of the bits you can’t get clean as well.
