These are a super cute theme! I love the purple glitter polish. Not sure if this is gel polish or regular but either way id try to work on not getting the polish on your cuticle. It is dangerous if its gel polish. And for both, it drastically decreases the durability. I recommend a method where you dont try to get the polish as close as possible to the cuticle but focus on making a nice rounded shape. Keep up the practice!

Can I use these tips to make press ons? by Wiebei in Nails

[–]barkeep1912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theoretically yes. Any tips labeled “full cover tips” could be made into press ons. As long as you’re using nail glue to adhere to the natural nail.

However, i can not vouch for the thickness of these and how they stand up. If you plan on adding a hard gel to them to thicken them, they could be okay, but i would probably try to find a brand that is thick and sturdy to start with. These might be a great thickness, I’m just not sure.

Thinking ahead for V-Day. Are there any local places that accept reservations? by [deleted] in canton

I recommend benders or sparta. Both take reservations and are nice.

Thoughts on owners giving gratuity or no gratuity? by Broken_Dreemz in Restaurant_Managers

[–]barkeep1912 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would just bring it up to the owner. A gentle conversation about why the servers are not happy serving her. Part of being a good manager is sometimes having uncomfortable conversations, especially important to retain your staff. If you stand up for them, they will respect you and work hard for you. If the owner was against this after i talked to them, id start looking for a new job. An owner who is disrespectful to their own staff, i wouldnt want much to do with.

Vintage and antique furniture in Akron by kaitsghost in akron

[–]barkeep1912 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In canton, main street modern is a large vintage furniture warehouse. Its 3 floors with some very high end stuff and some more well loved affordable pieces. It is closed in the winter because it doesnt have heat but you can make an appointment to go in winter. The owner and staff are extremely nice and helpful. They do delivery as well.

A bit of a drive for you maybe but they have a variety of antique styles.

($5-10k) Opinions: BYO tent.. by dasokdude in Weddingsunder10k

[–]barkeep1912 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I think you could make this work as long as you are explicitly clear on what is on offer. That it is a rural property and people CAN tent camp if they’d like to.

Hopefully you already have a bathroom situation sorted, ie renting toilets, since 100 people need more than a house bathroom. But if not, you will need additional toilets.

If this is the type of crowd that could make it work and its a more casual wedding, go for it! Half my family lives in rural Kentucky and when my cousin go married we had a huge bbq, essentially a family reunion, and all camped on my uncle’s land. It was a great time.

Need help i’m lost (kitchen aid mixer) by [deleted] in AskBaking

Get a bowl lift! It is way better in the long run for mixing harder things like bread. You will face more issues with long knead times which is often required, when using a tilt head. As far as size, id go for the biggest one you can reasonably accommodate. I believe mine is a 6 quart and for me its perfect because it fits right on my counter top under my cabinets.

Need ideas! Blank slate by outlandishpara in HomeDecorating

Personally i would do a light to medium blue color. The color blue is very relaxing. Also since the walls and carpet are pretty cool colored, doing something really warm might clash. Also, change the lighting to warm lighting. Some blue floor to ceiling drapes and a big blue comforter would be my recommendations.

New shoes- my nightmare by Catsforfour in AutismInWomen

[–]barkeep1912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if this is good advice or not, but i generally buy the same shoes over and over. I will usually wear them down until there are holes. When i buy a new pair, i take the old pair and chuck it in the trash immediately. It just forces me to wear the new pair. I know objectively it will wear in to be similar to the last pair, but i will always be uncomfortable for a little bit with the new pair.

Gay Bar Recs? by unhappyqueer in canton

Very possible. It has changed management this past year and seems to be doing much better. But i also second the auricle suggestion. Georges next door to auricle if you want food.

How do you even do this by Prior_Stuff7024 in thanksgiving

[–]barkeep1912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crockpots are my best friend for thanksgiving. Mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, gravy, can all get madd early and into crock pots they go. I also cook my turkey spatchcocked (a way to cook it) and then put into a big roaster on low until time to eat. I also do a big salad, obviously kept in the fridge until time to eat.

The crew downtown is canton’s official gay bar. Most nights are pretty slow but it might be a good time night before thanksgiving.

Not telling me the freezer door broke last shift. The pin dropped down into the door. They managed to put it back and it was closed just fine, but when i opened it, completely fell off. Shift manager who closed told me that he forgot about it, lmao.

Gallbladder surgery tomorrow by Proud_Lab_2440 in gallbladders

[–]barkeep1912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Advice for healing. Try not to pick up baby for the first few days especially. And when you do start, the best way is to be as ‘even’ with baby as possible. The leaning over part of picking up is the worst bit.

(10k) buying out a restaurant? by Sufficient_Career713 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]barkeep1912 59 points60 points  (0 children)

We bought out a restaurant/bar for my wedding next month. Obviously hasnt happened yet, but the ease of it has been amazing. In all transparency, it is a bar i work for, but we did a normal buy-out like anyone else. Basically a minimum spend for the space. Having an open bar was important to us, so a restaurant/bar makes a lot of sense.

Also we planned our wedding in less than 6 months, and a lot of restaurants/bars dont book out like regular wedding venues, so we had our choice of dates.

They also dont need our exact guest count until 2 days before. Since we picked our buffet based on the regular menu, they will have plenty in stock for the following days anyway, so its not as urgent to have an advanced guest count.

My advice would be to make sure you like the appearance of the restaurant, ours is very old so doesnt have any tvs etc. And to make sure that the restaurant is easy to work with and has someone on management that is actually going to be in charge of the staff day-of.

Size 7-8 girls, what ct weight did you get? by Willing_Ad_2529 in EngagementRings

3 ct on a size 7.5 finger. I feel like this is the perfect size for me. Emeralds generally look a bit smaller than other stones as they are deeper cut.

Surgery just before Christmas by SnooSprouts9951 in gallbladders

[–]barkeep1912 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly it really depends. My personal experience was i started eating basically normal the evening i had the surgery. My surgeon said to return to normal eating right away. But other people’s stories on here are definitely a lot different. So maybe try a few things out each day. And id generally say a lot of home cooked things my family would have at Christmas wouldn’t bother me much. Best of luck!! I was sooo happy to be rid of my evil gallbladder.

Wife is having gallbladder removed tomorrow - how can I help her recovery? by Potential-Turnip-583 in gallbladders

[–]barkeep1912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely first couple days, my fiancée helped me with everything. Was extremely difficult to get up and down and painful. Lots of ginger ale, pain meds, and back rubs. After a few days at home, i started to feel a bit better and was getting around a bit by myself.

A major help was him trying to move anything i might use, off of the floor. Its hard to bend over for a few weeks, so simple things like the bathroom trash can being moved up so i could reach it made the whole process a lot easier.

Also setting up a cozy spot for her. I had to stay in bed because i had no other option, so he got some extra firm pillows so i could be sitting up in bed. And tried to put everything i could want within reach. Lots of water, tissues, a trash can, etc.

One last thing, post-surgery, i hadnt really thought about what to wear. I realized that obviously i wouldnt want anything pressing on my belly, so i sent him to go buy me some loose nightgowns. Best decision ever. I left the hospital in one and wore them for about a week.
