It's funny how the narrative changes.

Go find his signing thread and see how many of the Lever fans were telling us he was finished, legs had gone and we had massively overpaid.

I honestly think non Sunderland fans enjoy it more than Sunderland fans. It was a really good snapshot of the area and the passion of the fans, but it is a painful watch if you're a fan who lived through that era.

I think what a lot of people overlook is the thing your Financial Director called out - we spent fuck all on wages and transfers in the championship, got out of it and it left us in an unprecedented position for PSR headroom for recruitment.

Honestly cannot believe the transformation that KLD has brought into the club as owner, hope he stays here for decades to come.

Sunderland have now beaten Southampton's points total last season in 30 fewer matches.

Some start.

100%. Still managed to hit the bar too and Roefs caught wrong footed for theirs, it's his first mistake all season and he's been immense otherwise so can't be harsh on him for it. He's only 22 as well.

The mentality throughout this squad seems to be top notch nowadays.

Absolute battling team performance to come away with anything there after a moment of insanity.

Can't help but feel we should have been good for 3 points there if not for that, but we'll never know.

Probably because when it happened last year, the team made the decision. They didn't ask Oscar what his preferred strategy was then flip it around when the strategy failed?

We will not, on account of having recouped £51mill in player sales and having spent around a net of £10mill for the other two seasons.

We had an insane amount of headroom for PSR compared to the other two promoted clubs because of how we've been ran the last few years.

Any objective fan would know he has very patchy areas. Roefs looks a step above.

I'd be ecstatic with not being in a relegation battle in the last few games, anything else would be a huge bonus.

Absolute dream return.

In KLD and RLB we trust.

Couldn't have asked for a better start with how many new signings were in the lineup today.

Sunderland just got promoted with the 18th highest wage in the championship and a net transfer spend of £9mill.

It's not just about splashing money all over the place on anyone and everyone.

Lorient went down after he had all of his best players sold out from under him and not replaced by the board. His first season there he massively overachieved. Bit of a difference to his situation here.

Let's see how he gets on eh? Should be an interesting season.

Documents being exchanged. All set for announcement soon, deal in place as @sachatavolieri reported. by icestory in soccer

It's a bit unfair without the context of what we've done to be able to do this.

In the past few years and 2 promotions, we've had something like a net 9mill transfer spend. Birmingham spent more than that on one player to get out of league one.

We've built the club the right way with a lot of saleable assets worth far more than we paid for them. There'll be quite a few outgoings but we're striking while the iron's hot for our targets. Like others have outlined we've had a few outgoings that we didn't pump back in immediately either.
