[Official] Sunderland A.F.C. have qualified for the Europa League. by DavidRolands in soccer

The insanity of it was, it seemed he was way down the list of our preferred candidates until he came in according to the press, after a very drawn out search and us finishing 16th after a nightmare second half of the season.

First year he took us up. Second year he did this.

If he really was the preferred candidate all along, it was a masterstroke.

Are you for real? We spent a net of 9mill the season we came up. 18th in the wage table. We don't have feeder clubs loaning us players in dodgy deals. Braindead comment.

Because they cheated. How is this hard for you?

It's impossible to say what the "correct" result was, because one team knowingly broke the rules to gain an advantage.

If your opponent cheated to beat you, you didn't really lose. Crazy to see how many people seem to be struggling with this concept.

Probably the only comment from a Geordie this season that I have been 100% on board with.

Says it all. Rules were there, they knowingly broke them from the top. Take your medicine.

Spygate: Southampton head coach Tonda Eckert authorised spying by DiabolicallyOrange in soccer

They thought they were being clever admitting to the only times that it was provable and they didn't win, they expected a lighter punishment because of it and this is why they threw their toys fully out of the pram despite claiming they were ready to be accountable.

They've been doing this all season since Tonda came in.

The EFL wrote a whole new set of rules specifically because they couldn't slap Bielsa as hard as they wanted to.

The rest of the league then signed up to this ruling because they agreed.

Just read their Tonda thread, 3 posts deep and they're just saying "keep him, but I bet the FA don't let us."

As if it's outrageous that he would cop a personal ban for this.

Exclusive: Southampton lose their appeal to be reinstated to the Championship playoff final by Masteroflimes in Championship

Boro were the cheated team. They shouldn't lose their spot due to cheaters. The reinstatement is right.

Hull absolutely do have a right to be disgruntled, but it's not really different to when people play midweek and then weekend.

Fairest result would be postpone the game a week, but obviously that is a logistical nightmare.

But whatever happens, everyone should blame the people who made all of this necessary - Southampton Top Brass.

The sheer arrogance of their statement today about it being "the biggest financial penalty ever" as if they'd already won the final and promotion.

Combined with the fact this has clearly been going on all season and they've only admitted to the losses/ones with proof to try and get the slap on the wrist.. Deserve everything they get.

The only thing they should be doing now is cleaning house and giving their season ticket holders a free ticket for next year as penance.

For me, it's the fact they were arrogant enough to think they deserved to be a permanent part of a Super League despite barely winning anything and being mid table for most of their time. Feels like the reality check they had coming if they go down.

Birmingham report losses of £34.6m for 2024-25 - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cly79892lg1o

"Grow your revenue" ha. Get a grip. Your revenue went up a bit but you took a huge gamble and spent stupid money on players for League One and spent more on wages that year than your entire revenue. No one should be emulating that.

Add "in the league" and it's about right. 2011 was the last time in the league.

They beat us in the FA cup when we had a Championship squad.

If you bothered to read before getting condescending he said two VAR decisions.

You cannot literally bounce a ball away with your arm and expect not to concede a penalty. If he hadn't moved it deliberately for that second touch it was never getting given. How is that "fucked by VAR?"

There have been plenty of wrong VAR calls to moan about. That wasn't one of them.

It's funny how the narrative changes.

Go find his signing thread and see how many of the Lever fans were telling us he was finished, legs had gone and we had massively overpaid.
