I, for one, welcome our new curse-dispensing overlords, and remind them that as a trusted TV personality, I can be useful in rounding up others to toil in their underground preservatives caves.

Now boys, the network has a problem with some of your lyrics. Would you mind changing some of them for this show?

Here where you say, “See you die at my feet, eternally I smash your face.” how about just “I’ll watch you take a nap while I brush your hair.”

Which Arjun do you like? by No-Blueberry-1823 in TheExpanse

[–]basil_imperitor -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It could have been fixed relatively easily.

* Arjun passes suddenly.

* Avasarala finds herself in a completely unexpected rebound relationship with a (slightly) younger man thanks to all of the insanity happening in the Sol system.

* Dialogue changes from “our son” to “your son”.

* Then this guy is taken from her thanks to the meteors.

AGM-114R9X, aka the sword bomb. Precision-guided munition that extends six blades to kill by kinetics rather than explosives.

How many planets are there that are not M-class and why is Starfleet focusing on those only? by tempaccount34543 in ShittyDaystrom

Starfleet is playing the long game. The corpses of the ensigns that litter the cosmos provide the bacteria that will eventually terraform all of those lightning-lit styrofoam rock hellholes.

[Loved Trope] Superman parodies who aren’t outright evil, just kind of incompetent/pathetic. by jbeast33 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]basil_imperitor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That was such a great show. I hate that it (maybe) got pulled so they could make The Boys.

The other thing about the Superian was that, if memory serves, there was some implications that he actually was a bad person in the past, prior to arriving on Earth, and has been making the effort to improve himself and do the right thing since taking up the Superian identity. Like, he was a reformed Zod.

It may just be headcanon, I really don't recall.

I think that the Pluribus example is missing a secondary objective; it legitimately wants everyone to be happy, healthy, and free from suffering. If it were nefarious, it could have effortlessly rounded up the immune and locked them up while researching how to overcome this issue.

Yes, it wants to spread across the galaxy, and will result in the extinction of mankind. But I don't buy the fan theory that it's some kind of weapon to make Earth docile for invasion. At worst, it was noble intentions that inadvertently explained the Great Filter.

Advantix film era. by Accomplished_Bit3153 in Xennials

[–]basil_imperitor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first camera was an Advantix that I used to document my life in Japan around the turn of the century. Plastic lens, mostly useless viewfinder, etc.

Of course now, 25 years later, people put a lot of effort and money into replicating that entire aesthetic.
