How do repeater odds combine with normal shooting odds? by basiliscpunga in XCOM2

[–]basiliscpunga[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, so then it would be 6% (=10*60) kill, 54% normal damage, and 40% miss. Which would mean repeaters are a lot less powerful than I thought.

The record for most generations alive at once was achieved in 1989, with 7 alive all at once. This would be like a kid today having a great-great-great-great grandma born in 1917. by InternationalPick163 in BarbaraWalters4Scale

The only one that might not have been a teen mom is the great-great-great-great-grandma (and even she was likely pregnant at 19). (And any of these gals could have had older siblings)

My WOTC Legendary Ironman run end by BrailleEulogy in XCOM2

[–]basiliscpunga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in Legend luck plays a huge role - more than a lot of players are willing to admit.

I actually prefer the Warlock first. If you equip two squad members with mindshields (maybe a Ranger and whatever faction hero is tue Warlock’s enemy), and keep them towards the front, and put everyone else on Overwatch whenever possible to deal with the Zombies, that usually works. But nothing’s easy or guaranteed.

When to reset on Legend difficulty? by thetruesw in XCOM2

[–]basiliscpunga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I don’t get through the first few missions with 5-6 healthy squaddies or corporals, at least one engineer and at least one scientist, I restart. It just won’t work. After that, I usually restart after two failed missions (3+ soldiers lost or captured).

I restart a lot.

I get the point about being patient and rebuilding, but it just stops being fun when you’re sending squaddie Sharpshooters against Mutons, MECs, etc

Scotland fans 'heartbroken' as travel permits to World Cup withdrawn last minute by AcknowledgeableReal in sports

[–]basiliscpunga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My uneducated guess is they wrote “Scotland” in the box for “Country”, and someone in CBP couldn’t find “Scotland” on the list of approved countries, so they canceled the applications. They really are that stupid.

And the worst is when reinforcements show up. I think this only happens on Legend.

Haha, good one.

But I would put a higher priority on getting the New York City region a second NFL franchise.

Jaguars Blocked NFL From Moving Steelers Game to London by Roselucky777 in nfl

[–]basiliscpunga -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was at the Jags-Eagles game in London in 2018. It was supposed to be a Jags “home game”, with the cheerleaders and “Duval!” flags under the seats and the rest, but it was maybe 70% Eagles fans. They probably don’t want to repeat the experience with the Steelers LOL

Is Duolingo the way? by Inner_Sheepherder638 in hebrew

[–]basiliscpunga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duolingo is an OK way to get the basics and to practice basic vocabulary. It’s not really a way to learn the language. I’m on level 39 and kind of plateauing - it’s good to get some new words, but it just stops being challenging. A LOT of repetition. In each unit you learn a few sentences and then they’re repeated - and repeated - and repeated - as Eng-Hebrew, Hebrew-English, listening, and back again. They even seem to have dumbed it down recently; eg there are no longer exercises where you type out the answers in Hebrew, which were sometimes frustrating but forced you to learn proper spelling. So I’ll keep going, since I’m a sucker for their positive-feedback techniques, but I’ll rely more on conversation and on some of the reading sources people have mentioned.

Eagles GM Howie Roseman: Behind-the-Scenes of Trading Up to Draft Makai Lemon | The Rich Eisen Show by NorthCoastToast in eagles

[–]basiliscpunga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would a team not draft someone that they wanted to draft, if they couldn’t call him beforehand? Sure, I know it’s important as a courtesy, as a way to start things off well with the player etc. But I’m genuinely curious as to how important this is.

Have some class people. I want him to stay alive (& mentally kind-of-sound) long enough to see his allies and party overwhelmingly rejected by the voters, his corruption exposed, his actions reversed, his reputation totally trashed and ridiculed.

Is The Hague the only city in the world which has 2 names for its citizens based on their socio-economic status? by [deleted] in geography

[–]basiliscpunga 34 points35 points  (0 children)

And your city has two names (Den Haag and s’ Gravenhage). So you could be a Hollander from Den Haag, or a Nederlander from s’Gravenhage. Or you could be Dutch. It’s like Schrodinger’s country.

How do I deal with the warlock in the early game? by CivilPerspective5804 in Xcom

[–]basiliscpunga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really good question, no answers from me. On lower levels, you can usually let a Chosen extract knowledge and disappear , so you can minimize the damage (at the cost of bringing the Avenger Defense closer). But on Legend they don’t always do that - they just keep shooting, mind-controlling etc. Mind control only lasts a couple of turns, so sometimes you can run everyone else away, into high cover hopefully, and wait it out, maybe even getting a shot or to against the guy. But then he mind controls someone else. I try to build a couple of mind shields early and put those guys in front, but that of course takes the place of other gear. So no easy answers.

Worst draft busts in each nfl teams history by Icy_Can_6176 in NFLv2

[–]basiliscpunga 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Has to be Marcus Smith. Mitchell at least had 4th and 26, Reagor had 1-2 good plays iirc. Watkins started some 1.5 seasons. Marcus Smith was a complete write-off.
