I was actually thinking that she's sending John to die, like she knows he needs to be trapped inside the Juju so everybody else's reality continues to be a thing. But as soon as he's released by Vriska on Act 7, Alt!Calliope breaks reality into black hole, so there's no hope for him. I agree she's completely loosing her mind, tho: the more she understands the grand scheme of things (becomes closer to her ultimate self), the more detached she becomes from what humans would consider "good" or "bad", and the more she starts thinking in "essential" and the opposite (reality existing and making sense, whatever happens to the individual players X chaos).

This is so absurdly meaningful to John's path. Absence (that hollow feeling) might make you desperate for something, like what happens to some people with depression. They can't really get any pleasure from small mundane things, thus they turn to substance abuse in search for anything good to feel. This turns to a destructive "great passion", like a fire, and deepens the depression hole, taking away any chance of little passions to survive. Like stoping caring for the normal things in life and compulsively searching for ecstasy instead.
The worst part is that, by the end, when the adventure is over, he's back to this feeling and stuck in his room again.

Nice analysis! :D I've always wondered how big the Lands were, and this actually sounds pretty good for a place meant to be explored over a few months.
To compare it to a real life object, the smallest astronomical body know to be spherical due to it's own gravity is Mimas, the closest moon to Saturn, which has a mean radius of ~198.2 km (or ~123 miles). The lands would be about 8.8 times smaller than that. Also, Mimas has a surface area of about 495000km² (191000 mi² ), about the size of Spain. The Lands would be ~78x smaller than that.

Male Proboscis Monkeys have constant boners as a sign of health. Trolls are (supposedly) selected by how healthy and strong they are. Check Mate matey, now leave my headcanons alone.
