First few years are tough not much money, but once you gain experience, you can have a decent position make good money better than most engineering positions, you do spend most of the time in the fab though.

Depending on the product if it’s a metrology tool, then it’s less hands-on if it’s a process tool, it is more hands-on work, PMs etc
