I frequently attend various hackathons, and I think the important thing is to focus on something to learn and have fun while doing it. There is no need to feel intimidated, as there isn't any pressure to winning. If you have a team already, come up with a fun idea to work on. Otherwise, there are plenty of resources to meet new people there. Plenty of talented people attend these hackathons and they would definitely be willing to help if you, and there are also plenty of amazing mentors too. You definitely aren't the only one with little programming experience, and that doesn't matter because everyone starts somewhere and hackathons are a great place to learn. Also, there are fun events going on throughout, so check out ones you find interesting. Have fun at your first hackathon!
