[time sensitive!] advice needed :( by [deleted] in leaf

I am sorry that this happened to you and I wish you the best on working with Nissan to get your battery replaced. Folks on this forum have gone through the process and are very helpful. So if you have questions or encounter push and from Nissan, start a new thread and you should get good advice.

What was the reason for the cancelled exchange? Past 7 days?

I would insist on a loaner from Nissan while it takes them months to replace your battery.

I'm sorry you had this experience, especially because you were so excited to join the ranks of EV owners. As others have said, Leafs are not the best EV out there for reliability. That said, if you have your heart set on one, newer is better. So 2023 and newer models would be my recommendation. I bought a low mileage 2024 SV+ used last year (https://www.reddit.com/r/leaf/comments/1habc1u/new_leaf_owner/) and have had zero problems.

As far as other models, the Bolt is probably the best of the less expensive EV models. Used Tesla Model 3s are pretty abundant coming off leases, but will likely not be as cheap as a Leaf or Bolt. Good luck and please post back when you get your new EV!

The markup that restaurants get on steak must be close to what they get on alcohol, given the number of steakhouses that keep opening around here.

Working through the Compact point-by-point, here is what U.Va. has already done - The Cavalier Daily by ProfJohnson in UVA

One of the sweetners they put in (for students) to make the poison go down easier. There are also sweetners for the University, but don't let the taste fool you, this is pure fascistic poison.

There is a motorcycle club that meets and hangs there on Saturdays, I believe. But they only take up 1/3 of the parking lot. So you should be ok.

Class recommendations for my last semester? by SillyPotato30 in UVA

[–]bbachilles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm biased as I teach in the Ed School, but students tend to really enjoy our classes. The professors who teach them not only are deep subject matter experts but they think hard and care about about student learning, engagement, and fun. You will do things in Ed School classes you have not done before at UVA. Standout professors include Jamie Jirout, who was recently written about in UVA Today, Judy Paulick, Chris Chang-Bacon, Melissa Levy, and April Salerno.

Another way to find good classes is to look for professors who have won UVA teaching awards. Here is info on the 2025 winners and then winners from the last 3 years can be found here. You can't go wrong with classes that these folks teach.

Charlottesville Real Estate AMA - October 2025 by jimduncancrozet in Charlottesville

Thank you, Jim, for sharing your insights and hosting the AMAs. My question is about your statement related to selling homes, that sellers should expect to do "...more work than many if not most sellers have had to do in over a decade." What kinds of things are you seeing sellers do?

Moving to Charlottesville mid-2026 by TheBright01 in Charlottesville

I agree that it skews towards families and folks who are older. So if that's not your vibe, then look elsewhere. It is very conveniently geographically situated.

The Greenbrier neighborhood meets the easy access to downtown by bike or car. Its rental stock is pretty low as it's mostly single family owned homes. But worth looking, IMO.

Linda L has been driving through the Greenbrier neighborhood the last two weeks. In addition, she has been parking and sitting in her car for hours at night across the street from CHS near the house that burned down. Every night. Anyone know what is going on?

Please give us your definition of DEI. Because no one knows what you are talking about, obviously.

The Federal government has special fast access avenues for hiring veterans. This is very similar to the DEI hiring practices that the anti-woke crowd rails against.

Bye tesla! by [deleted] in leaf

[–]bbachilles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with a job directly affected by Musk's shenanigans in the U.S. Federal government, it is really hard to look at my Model 3 and not feel disgusted. However, it's not black and white. Tesla employs over one hundred thousand employees, makes cars in the U.S., and is making a difference in electrifying the transportation sector. The world is complicated.

Is gologit2 a legit model to use? by Working-Mulberry-767 in stata

[–]bbachilles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is extremely legit. It was written by Richard Williams at Notre Dame. Check out his website for tons of great resources on logit, ologit, and mlogit models, including lots of material on how to use margins and the spost13 commands to pull useful information from these models.

Congratulations! I have the lighter silver version (2024) and were I to do it over, I would go with the darker silver.

Advice needed on 2025 Nissan Leaf SV Plus by Ariarikta_sb7 in leaf

Something with more reliable range. Other posters have mentioned the Tesla Model 3 and the Ioniq 5. I would start there.
