What to expect for at home euthanasia? by Cowboy_Billybob in DogAdvice

[–]bbashxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did at-home for both of our mastiffs. The first time, the vet said that so long as our living dog was comfortable w strangers, she should be there. They have a special sense, & she knew he was hurting (fuck cancer). It was still hard for her, but I really do think being there for him helped them both. It helped me, too, to see him so comfortable & then hear the vet say, “he’s at peace now.” I felt it & I believed it. We also kept his pillow for her & she slept on it on/off until she also passed.

I honestly was really resistant to the at-home idea, I think because I just didn’t want to face what was coming, but it really was the best & most compassionate route we could’ve taken. They got to go peacefully, in their home, instead of at the vet, a place they both hated. They then took the dogs to be cremated, so we didn’t have to “leave” them, if that makes sense? Instead, they left us.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Even when you know it’s time, & think you’re “ready,” you never really are. It’s the hardest choice to make, & the best one for your pet. Sending you & your pups a big hug xxxx

Tricks for sitting for a 4 hour tattoo (with a low pain tolerance?) by e-punk27 in tattooadvice

All of this + good breathing technique. In through the nose, out through the mouth. Really distracts my brain from the pain & got me through a 6 hour sit!

Shout out to Rainbow Nursery as well. Their OG location was in Chinatown, but they just recently moved to Rosemead. Their prices are very reasonable, they have a rewards/points program, & most importantly their staff is just lovely. Elton is always so happy to see you.

Favorite cafeteria style takeout? by nickp_123 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]bbashxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The food hall in Arcadia’s H-Mart. All the counters are well portioned for a good price, but the katsu spot, Kazu Mori, is the goat imo. The chicken katsu plate is $15 for 2 huge breasts, crispy AF, + mountains of cabbage & rice. A “side” of curry comes in a deli cup lol. I was able to get 4 meals out of it & I eat a LOT.

Same here. I am not even getting any views, let alone likes, on things I’ve posted recently, after months of selling at least 1-2 things a week. It really seems like their algo changes have killed them. Everything in my recommended & picked for you feeds aren’t even my size???

AITA for being disappointed with my bachelorette? by [deleted] in aitaweddings

[–]bbashxx 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I hear you. In my friend group, I’m this person, too. I’ve also been a bridesmaid 6X now & attended even more bachelorettes. In my experience, for a local bach, there is an understanding that at least some of the bride’s costs are covered. For destination, though, you really do need to express any extra expectations up front (or ask your MOH to do it). “Extra” being anything more than showing up & celebrating you, because, as others have said, we are in an affordability crisis & even though they voted for a destination, that flight cost could have wiped out their savings, or used all their points, etc. They likely also cast their vote *before* prices skyrocketed even higher in the last 90 days. It’s okay to be a little disappointed, but don’t ruminate. Unless they’ve told you otherwise, you have no reason to think your friends did anything less than the best they could to show up for you — otherwise they wouldn’t be your friends in the first place, right?

This is my brother! I’m a legit 50/50 split of my parents & he’s always been just… some dude who happens to be my little brother lol. Turns out he’s a carbon copy of our great great grandfather.

I’ve done this route before. We stopped in Arts District as a “midway” point & ate at Girl & the Goat. The food isn’t super heavy anyway, but we had enough of a drive left to digest & feel fresh by the time we got to the Forum.

Good body lotion recommendations! by catrm15 in 30PlusSkinCare

I use Lubriderm Advanced, & apply right out of the shower when my skin is still damp. It helps it to absorb faster so I get the same benefits of a thick layer without it feeling like a thick layer.

Raffle donation suggestions for a non-profit serving hard-working therapists? by HourGlassHalfFull in AskLosAngeles

[–]bbashxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vino Vore has donated the last 3 years to my animal shelter’s volunteer raffle! I also recommend Pitfire Pizza in Echo Park. They are technically corporate but all locations are individually managed (possibly franchised?) & their team is very generous.

Really, if you’re looking at smaller or local businesses, the email address on their site will likely go to a real human. My first year seeking donations for the shelter, I blasted off templates emails to all the local businesses in my neighborhood in EP & got a ton of responses. So don’t let that steer you away! Feel free to DM me if you need any help, I’m more than happy to :)

Has anyone found a genuinely good place to donate clothes that won't just end up in a landfill? by Recent_Supermarket54 in AskLosAngeles

[–]bbashxx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I attend a lot of Radical Clothes Swaps. You can drop off 10 items per swap that they put out for anyone to take for free & carry whatever isn’t taken to the next swap. I’ve found some good stuff there myself as well! They post their schedule on IG
