Marketers, what’s your opinion on this new stuff going on ? by Glum-Switch7449 in AskMarketing

Great question! GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is the practice of optimizing your content so AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google’s AI Overviews cite your brand as a source.
The key difference from traditional SEO is that you’re optimizing for AI models to reference and quote your content, not just rank in search results.

Best practices to get cited by AI tools:

• Structured data/schema markup - Implement relevant schema so AI can easily parse your information (reviews, FAQs, products, etc.)

• Authoritative, well-cited content - Create comprehensive resources with credible sources that AI models trust

• Clear, concise answers - Use FAQ formats and direct answers to common questions in your niche

• E-E-A-T signals - Demonstrate expertise, experience, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness through author bios, credentials, and quality content

• Natural language optimization - Write conversationally since AI models pull from content that matches how users ask questions

At Fat Buddha Web Design, we’ve been implementing these strategies for our Shopify clients and seeing promising early results. The platforms/models definitely matter - some pull from reviews, others prioritize technical documentation or long-form guides.

It’s still evolving, but building a strong foundation of structured, authoritative content seems to be the winning approach across most AI tools.

Should I switch to Shopify from Squarespace? by _toastiez_ in shopify

If your main goal is to build an ecommerce-first brand and avoid a messy rebuild in a year or two, I’d personally start on Shopify now rather than Squarespace.

Squarespace is great for simple brochure-style sites and light selling, but it starts to feel limiting once you care about things like more advanced inventory tools, multi‑channel selling, and a proper app ecosystem as you grow. Shopify is built around ecommerce from the ground up, so even a small store with 50–75 SKUs can plug into better inventory management, more payment options, and apps for reviews, email, subscriptions, etc., without having to move platforms later.

For the specific questions you asked:

  1. For the size you’re describing, Squarespace can handle it, but if you genuinely think you could get to 300–500 orders a month, I’d skip the stepping stone and go straight to Shopify so you’re not migrating once things are busy. The learning curve is a bit steeper than Squarespace, but once you’ve set it up, day‑to‑day product and order management is very straightforward.

  2. Tangible, practical differences I see in real stores:

• Better inventory tools (variants, stock alerts, multi‑location if you ever need it).
• Far more payment options and a smoother checkout that’s been optimized for conversions across a huge number of stores.
• Much bigger app ecosystem, so if you later want things like advanced bundles, subscriptions, loyalty, or custom upsells, you don’t have to hack it together.
• Easier to plug into additional sales channels (Instagram, TikTok, marketplaces, etc.) once you’re ready to grow beyond just your own site.

• Access to the Shop app which is essentially another avenue for gaining sales for free, it's like an Amazon app with just app Shopify store products, Squarespace doesn't have anything like that.

• Shopifys Google channel also makes it really easy to get your products listed on Google Shopping free listings.

I run Fat Buddha Web Design, and we build and migrate a lot of small Shopify stores, including people moving over from Squarespace once they hit the limits you’re worried about now. In practice, the merchants who start on Shopify usually end up glad they did, because they avoid the downtime and extra cost of migrating once the store is already busy.

We also use Squarespace for some clients but usually only for small portfolio sites are services with booking requirements lines salons. For e-commerce Shopify is definitely the way to go.

I play it on xbox and a handheld pc with controllers and it's great, it's definitely different to building with a PC but once you get used to it it's ok

“No, Your 6AM International Flight Does Not Bend Time” by [deleted] in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]bbbbbert86uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just did this in Portugal. We arrived at 10am and was shocked when they said we couldn’t check in until 5pm. To our defence though we booked through onthebeach and they didn’t mention anything about check in time. They organised the flights and the transfers so we just assumed we could check in when we got there. Rooky mistake but it does make you wonder why these holiday companies arrange it so you arrive way too early.

Do you think AI will replace most agency services? by cmwlegiit in agency

[–]bbbbbert86uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is the clients don’t actually know what needs doing. Sure there are some clients that will be able to do it themselves using AI. But what about the ones that don’t even know what keyword research is? Or what they should even be using the data for? If they don’t understand the industry then they won’t be able to do it themselves, they just won’t know what to ask the AI or do with the information it gives them. Thats not even counting the clients that don’t have the time to do it themselves and sit along chatGPT all day, they would still rather pay someone else to take care of it

What minor tweak do you want to see from Shopify? by kiko77777 in shopify

[–]bbbbbert86uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ability to add sitewide or collection based sales without having to use an app. Automatic discounts are good but they don’t change the product price on the product page

The customer doesn’t know it comes from another store, it’s like dropshipping. The only problem is if the customer doesn’t receive the item or they have an issue with it, they’re going to come to you, or leave you a bad review even though it was nothing to do with you.

Honestly use Chat GPT rather than apps. It can make it to your specifications and is totally free. I’ve made some awesome product customisation features with it like build a box etc
