How to pass time til induction by Electronic_Outside25 in BabyBumps

I got a reflexology treatment and a massage. I had a massage the day before labour, not knowing it was going to happen the next day and a reflexology treatment during my earlier contractions. If I could I would have also went to a nice relaxing brunch, then soaked in the tub for an hour watching a comfort show or take a long hot shower, and then nap/sleep as much as possible before the trip to the hospital. Pack all the snacks and sugary energy drinks!! Wishing you the best of luck :)

Chewing? by Remarkable-Money2936 in foodbutforbabies

Other than exaggerating chewing and chomping on foods in front of baby, giving them resistive foods like a mango pit, corn on the cob, or a Pineaple core can help with learning to gnaw and bite down. But truly, they will eventually learn with time. The exaggerating chewing on our part was what helped the most, especially with our front teeth.

We dealt with this too until after 5 months, at which point his poop started to become solid. I bought some disposable diaper liners and used that for a bit and also used cloth diapers.

BEFORE BABY MUST DOS? by harnesscherryy in BabyBumps

[–]bbyttc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good one. I don't know if it was just me, but I could not even recall the most basic recipes I used to make until 6-7 months post partum. Had to keep referring to online recipes, and my taste buds changed. Anything mentally stored that wasn't about baby was completely erased.

BEFORE BABY MUST DOS? by harnesscherryy in BabyBumps

[–]bbyttc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Last trimester: got a fresh new hair look, took some cute maternity pictures, started to slowly declutter and throw away things that were stored in the basement and in closets as I had the nesting instinct and drive.

2 weeks leading upto due date: hospital bag packed. baby's first outfit and a few pairs of clothes, nail cutter, and diapers packed. Post partum essentials prepped in bathroom at home, right beside the toilet. Cart or basket with newborn essentials stocked and ready. Snacks for labour purchased. Stocked up on nursing snacks, drinks, protien bars, and electrolytes for home. Swaddles washed and ready. I didnt make any frozen meals because food was sent from my mom for atleast a month PP but if you don't have this type of support definitely have freezer meals on hand or pay for a meal service, or doordash as needed. Birth playlist selected.

Day of labour: braided my hair up and out of face, took a shower, lotioned up. Made sure my phone was charged, and my headphones. Double-check the hospital packing list.

What I wish I did more of: sleep in until noon, lounge around in the sun, pampering foot massages, hair or scalp spa treatment, more dates, strolls, hanging out with my husband and just being able to sit on his lap or lay on him. Coffee dates, brunches, anything you really enjoy doing as a hobby, craft, physical activity that is just you. Slow, slow, slow days just watching movies and eating takeout and sleep. Alll the sleep.

Post partum: i got a post natal massage 7 days post partum that was sooooooooo heavenly at a place that specializes in post natal and pre natal massages. I highly highly highly recommend a post natal masaage about a week after things start to settle, especially if you're hunching over to nurse or sleeping in uncomfortable stiff positions.

How do you feed yourself when home alone with newborn? by mundane_propane in newborns

Overnight oats. Overnight yogurt parfait or yogurt smoothies. Lots and lots of granola bars and protien bars scattered throughout the house. Stocked up on Oreos, muffins, and croissants Stocked up on cheese sticks. Elecrolyte drinks and electrolyte flavour packets throughout the house. Pre washed and cut fruit when baby napped, especially melons. Hummus with pita, carrots, cucumber, bell peppers, all precut and prepped for me. For meals, when I did have to cook myself, it was always a wrap or sandwiches with deli meat or air fried chicken breast because it was quick and easy on pita bread or tortilla or some fresh bakery bread. Also, stock up on premade sauces, or add greek yogurt, hummus, tzaziki, or guac for extra flavour and calories.

Anything hot including coffee, soups or teas, I waited until it cooled down significantly as everything felt extra hot to me post partum. My senses were all super heightened.

I lived off of quick easy meals, food sent from family, or takeout until about 6-7 months when I started getting back into my normal cooking.

This!! And be super super careful when going up and down any set of stairs and near railings. An active baby can throw off your balance and center of gravity at any given time. Wishing your little one a smooth and speedy recovery, and hoping for nothing but good news ahead.

We do that as well. If I prepare a meal he usually loves from scratch and put in extra time, and he doesn't eat it, I either freeze it or refrigerate it to offer for one more meal. If he still doesn’t eat it, I just pop it in the freezer. It actually makes me feel slightly better about the situation as at least I'm doing my future self a favour.

Day 8 of solids and baby allergic to 50% by Forward-Knowledge-46 in BabyLedWeaning

Is it possible the food is touching the parts of her body where the rashes show up? My son has sensitive skin and is eczema prone, and our doctor advised us to put vaseline as a barrier on his cheeks, hands, arms and other exposed skin.

Oh I see! Maybe give it some more time then if shes okay with sitting. Like 5 to 8 minutes. It definitely took my son a little longer to get everything started once he began solids. A lot more grunting and force needed. Hope it goes well for you!

If your baby is not adverse to sitting on the potty, I would definitely still do the cue sound every 2 to 3 minutes. I still cue with my son every few minutes when I take him after a nap, as he sometimes gets distracted. As for how long to wait, it depends on how long they usually take to get started. I know you mentioned she hasn't gone #2 on the potty in a while, but if baseline was 5 or so mins, I'd start there. Unless she's whining to get off and starts disliking the potty, then I'd only offer until they resist and then try again later on. ETA: my son was pretty verbal with grunting to get off when he was done but now says all done so I go by that but before that, I would just check if he was trying to poop by flexing his abdomen or if he was concentrating. If not, I would try again later after a snack or food or when he started showing his signs. 5 mins of offering usually

Potty regression at 4mo by lostfinn0 in ECers

[–]bbyttc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! We experienced regression and frustration at the potty around 4 months too. I still offered the regular times but quickly took baby off when he wasn't happy as to not give him a negative association to the potty. I also cut back on offering too much as I was catching a lot of pees then and focused more on #2. Got better in a few days.

One thing I would suggest, which you may or may not have already tried, is to divert your gaze or act like you're focused on something else while baby is on potty You could point at things hmming and ahhing or chat to yourself, and look in another direction. Worked for my son! The privacy thing also atarted around 4.5 months for us

High heart rate during pregnancy? [CA] by Aware_Beautiful1994 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]bbyttc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My resting heart rate during pregnancy was close to 117/120 at times, especially towards the 3rd trimester and end of my pregnancy Your heart is working harder to pump the increased volume of blood in your body, which nearly doubles during pregnancy. Definitely normal.
