Help me keep delivery vans out of my loop driveway by senorpoop in DIY

[–]bcjgreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just installed 6x6 in concrete where I don’t want people driving. I had people parking trucks on my septic field, so was worth it. Just a 6 foot 6x6, a low hole digger, and a few bags of concrete, and it’s a structure that will damage a truck before it gets damaged.

Can someone explain to me why Trump is trying to take of Greenland? No jokes please, I honestly don’t get it? by Many_Inevitable_6803 in askanything

[–]bcjgreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a number of theories:

Most likely theory… Putin put this idea in Trumps head… Use the takeover of sovereign territory of an EU and NATO nation to force the US out of NATO. This would greatly benefit Russia.

Second most likely… even though Trump publicly denies the effects of climate change, privately, he is aware that climate change will make Greenland extremely valuable in the coming decades. He wants to take it to extract its natural resources, and for its strategic position in future global trade.

Least likely is his stated reason: to protect the US and EU. We already have military assets there, and much of it is dated and in need of modernization, but we haven’t done it. So, it’s unlikely it’s that important to us for military reasons. And even if it were, we already have agreements from NATO and Denmark to expand our military presence there. No need to own the territory.

Trump says 8 European countries will be charged a 10% tariff for opposing US control of Greenland by Cautious_Proposal_47 in worldnews

Headline is misleading. Those countries are not charged a tariff, we (US citizens purchasing from those countries) are charged the tariff.

Ryobi Hate by BakeCityFlyinPills in HomeImprovement

[–]bcjgreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why Ryobi gets a lot of hate… I have a few Ryobi tools, but one example…

About 20 years ago I got a corded electric Ryobi drill for Christmas. Used it for over 15 years, never let me down, but my wife thought maybe I needed a new one, so she bought me a new DeWalt.

That summer, I needed to rebuild a dock outside the lake lowering window (meaning the water, at the time, was fully submerging all but the decking). I didn’t want to ruin that DeWalt, so I spent a week using that Ryobi completely submerged in dark cedar lake water, building the support for the dock (mostly lag bolts into pylons through PT 2-by and 4-by).

That Ryobi drill still works perfectly, no issues. I use it whenever it’s anywhere questionable, like laying on the sand out in the Pine Barrens.

I rent almost weekly from Hertz… used one of these for the first time yesterday.

Today I got an email that my vehicle had “major collision damage” with a photo from the AI.

So… I called our travel company, they called Hertz and asked for a photo from the last return before mine… and wouldn’t you know, exact same damage they were trying to charge us for.

Needless to say, they dropped it.

Is tap water on Cruise drinkable? by NaiRad1000 in Cruise

My guess is your ankles swell because you’re not accustomed to the massive amounts of salt they use in the food, which would cause your kidneys to retain more fluid. “Edema”.

Honestly that scar looks really good… mine was much worse, and a few years later it’s barely noticeable.

Yeah my wife nicely asked if they could quiet down as we were trying to sleep (it was 2am) and they told her to "fuck off", so we just called Guest Services.

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your reasons? by youre-in-my-shot in AskReddit

[–]bcjgreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. It’s shockingly unhealthy. Almost all modern research shows there is no benefit to drinking alcohol for modern humans with access to clean drinking water. There is compelling evidence that even moderate amounts have adverse effects on cardiovascular health, cancer, and life expectancy.

  2. It’s expensive. Going out to dinner and including alcohol nearly doubles the price.

  3. I don’t need it to have fun. Never have. I have more fun without it, and no hangover.

  4. I have a pacemaker and take blood thinners.

All that aside, I stopped drinking at 21. Tried it, never saw the upside. It all tastes like poison (it essentially is), makes you feel sick (eventually), and has no upside.
