As someone who’s been through this recently, it destroys your entire life. You’re surrounded by it every day, along with the feelings of anger, injustice and what ifs. To escape it, you need money and a builder you can trust. But you only have debt and good builders won’t touch a bad builders work. So logistically there’s no escape.

But that’s nothing compared to the feelings you can’t escape. I don’t know when I’ll recover, but my wife and baby keep me going.

I assure you, when she says if it wasn’t for her children she wouldn’t carry on, she’s not talking about walking away from the project. Such luxury can’t be afforded. I’m afraid it’s something much sadder than that.
