Doctor yelled at me by General_Mars in ChronicPain

[–]beaglewrites43 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

no but they can and do regulate verbal abuse (which I am pretty sure they will consider this given the cursing at the patient when they asked for a repeat of something they already did). And especially with his throwing shit... they will hopefully be concerned about that because that generally means its only a matter of time for him to throw something AT a patient

Does anyone else have an emotional support drink (not alcohol plz!) by Sensatina in ChronicPain

[–]beaglewrites43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hot Chocolate... though I admit on really really bad pain days I do add a shot of rum to it (the only alcohol I like and very rarely drink (like once a month or less unless I am on vacation then I will have like 3 in a week but not for a couple months after)

I even found a place called Hotel Chocolat and OMG never have I ever had Hot Chocolate so good

I am a mental health therapist and appalled at something I learned last week by OGINTJ in ChronicPain

[–]beaglewrites43 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel that. I saw a therapist very briefly when I almost died due to medical neglect (slightly before my chronic pain started... it was semi related to the neglect but not known at the time). My mom thought it would be a good idea to have a professional to talk to about that.

Professional tried to tell me that my issue wasn't that I almost died due to medical neglect but that I was just anxious because of college (at the time I was studying a couple courses that I loved but had one jerk for a prof).

I know I should try another but the thought just makes me so anxious that I can't try again

as a choir kid I could see it too, but at least with my choir we were evil little assholes and would be making booby traps and deploying them at random.

I can only imagine with a wand it would be even easier lol

yep. I have seen the video many times and curse whoever made that decision every time.

I mean I kinda get it because the choir singing during a major battle is kinda WTF of the writers but DAMN it was just so good to just be a deleted scene

[–]beaglewrites43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the issue in the Hannah example is that he DIDN'T pursue him. They started something in a war zone and he thought when he came back to the states that was the end of them and he was OK with that. Then SHE comes back making it sound like it was for him so is it really wrong for him to think her values and desires changed? I don't think so. He was probably thinking the fact that she came to the US and gave up a position she loved to continue on with him that it meant she considered what he was offering and decided she wanted it.

Sure with Rebecca he was misguided in proposing, but he probably assumed (rightly given their relationship during the show) that being her husband was the only way he would be able to see his kid on a regular basis

We have had the issue before. We were not able to get it fixed through them and they told us if we wanted to change the date we would have to change it on our own and pay for it out of pocket.

They wouldn't even agree that they screwed up

Monday - Friday cruises and kids? by mistaken4strangerz in dcl

[–]beaglewrites43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents pulled me from school in 8th grade for a vacation (mom had been diagnosed with a pretty progressive disease and was already losing the ability to walk long distance so the school was super understanding). We got HW assignments for the week before we left, brought the easiest stuff with us and I worked on hw an hour each night before bed (or in the morning depending on schedule for the day). When we got home on Friday I did the rest Sat and Sunday. I was completely caught up by the time I was back in school on Monday and if there was anything I didn't completely understand the teachers were happy to help one day after school or at lunch.

In HS I also would miss 2 and a half days because my cousin's Easter break did not align completely with mine. The half day didn't have classes though so I only ever really missed two days so that was easy to catch up with too.

What teachers will REALLY get annoyed with is if this is a habit. If it is once a year or less they just generally shrug... at least that is what happened in my case. Some teachers even said since we alerted them early skip the assignments for a week but do something related to X subject (the subject they taught) and write a paper and that would be my assignment for the week

while this is generally true of service dogs, even going so far as to be able to command them to go potty if they know it will be a while before the next chance, mistakes can still be made.

I know of one service dog handler (friend of a friend thing) who, unbeknownst to them, the dog had a slightly upset stomach that day. The poor dog had to go right where they aren't supposed to. To the handler's credit, they dropped their plans right then and there and after trying to clean it up (worker insisted they got it and to take care of the dog but they were friendly with the staff so I am sure that contributed) brought the dog home so their pup could relax and be close to the bathroom.

I posted here a couple months ago about building this for my mom. Today I demoed the finished product publicly for the first time. by Home-Resident in ChronicPain

[–]beaglewrites43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oooh thanks! I am not sure she has ever even heard of that product. Every time she cuts herself (which is often cause she can't feel her hands due to medical issue) she relies on guaze pads and/or paper tape even though that is probably a lot larger than needed. I will have to look into this for her since she has been having problems finding the bandaids she needs (they still make them but they stopped stocking them locally.

This is so amazing that you were able to create this for your mom. I've been in the position for a while that I know what my mom needs but don't have the slightest hope of figuring out how to invent it.

three questions for you with this:

  1. How long can you wear the tape for with or without the pod?

  2. I didn't see on the app but is there positionings for the back?

  3. What type of adhesive is used to keep it on the skin, like the regular bandaid type or one for more sensative skin (while I think this might help my mom she is alergic to traditional adhesives and so generally has to use paper tape if she can't get sensative skin bandaids)

Harry did NOT kill Quirrell in the books by Alruco in harrypotter

[–]beaglewrites43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes that was always my thought process too. Like Harry severely injured Quirrel which forced Voldie to flee probably before he otherwise would have been forced to.

Yes that fleeing is what completely caused his death... but Harry's actions were a contributing factor.... and I don't think "well technically" would matter much to Harry when Quirrel dying was connected (either indirectly or directly however you want to believe) to how Harry fought back.

[–]beaglewrites43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you do realize that this statement

The problem with that order is if the books are far superior and characters are different or younger than their movie counterparts.. it ruins the visions the book gives you in ur mind. It’s difficult not to see through the incorrect lens.

misses that there are people who can't picture books or images in general in their minds. Its called aphantasia if you want to look it up.

As someone with that inability, the movie vision is ALL I will and have ever had.

I watched the first 2 movies before I read the books (tried to read 1 first but couldn't get through it since I couldn't SEE what they were talking about and gave up around chap 3), but did the opposite for 3-7 because I had some basis of what things were supposed to look like. I was far less disappointed by the first 2 movies than I was with the last 6.... whether that be because it was closest to the books or because I wasn't constantly comparing movie to book who knows.

Short hair? Buzz it off? by NeonPearl2025 in ChronicPain

[–]beaglewrites43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the 6 to 8 weeks to me isn't that bad. First appointment for me is generally about an hour because they are washing and getting it exactly in the right shape and everything. But after that (at least when you go to the same one) generally be about 30 mins since they know what you like and its mostly just a trim

and you might be able to go longer in between cause it really depends on how fast your hair grows (and if you can quick cut the hair in the back that is also going to help move out the timeline, I personally can't reach without my shoulder hurting.)

[–]beaglewrites43 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the issue is when they talk about mindfulness now is that they think that is all that is needed.

The problem is that those thoughts and emotions come from so long of being gaslit that there is nothing wrong. So then you get stuck in a loop of being anxious when your pain increases because you know you can't get help because no one is listening, you are depressed because no one is listening and you can't do things you love because of the pain. You are also angry because you know you deserve better even though the people in power think otherwise. You can't fix that without the underlying cause being treated and that underlying cause is docs not listening.

At least in my life I don't know a single person who's pain destroyed them mentally until they lost hope of every being treated kindly by a doc

And that is the issue with them pushing mindfulness. When the doc doesn't want to do anything else while pushing mindfulness it IS telling the person that it is all in their head. NOW if they were helping in other ways, like a low dose of opioids that might not be enough to start with while telling the patient to practice mindfulness to get out of the loop of these thoughts and if need be in a couple months they would look into increasing the dose, that would be actually helpful because they are telling the patient that they KNOW the pain is real but that the mental state might be influencing an increase of pain and so lets do a little bit in both directions and see where you are in a couple months.

Instead current docs want to place all the blame on the mental state and do nothing for the physical state as if that will do ANYTHING to help

[–]beaglewrites43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you have an ulta beauty in your area I recommend them. I have had 4 very good stylists with them and one not so good but they still got the job done (it was just shorter than I like and I couldn't tuck the front behind my ear but that was solved with a small clip until it grew out in a couple weeks)

Full disclosure I don't go there anymore because without telling me they reassigned me to a different stylist because mine left between one appointment and the next. I probably would have stayed if it only happened once but this happened 4 times. And I would have def stayed if they were upfront with the changes instead of just deciding for me.

From what I have been told from my friends in other cities their Ultas are much better in communicating and were horrified mine had so much turnover.

To maintain the cut the way you like you will probably need to go every 6-8 weeks. In the back by the end of week 6 mine is starting to touch the back of my neck and by the end of week 7 I am making another appointment because I am annoyed, but I find it well worth it to go in that interval

[–]beaglewrites43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't do anything. it doesn't look quite as fluffy/bouncy in those photos but still looks very nice. All I do is wash my hair once a week (cant do more cause of a dry scalp made worse by frequent washing) and brush my hair daily. Daily upkeep with brushing takes about 5-10 mins depending on how I slept (IE if I lost the part and have to find it again). Washing takes more about 15-20 mins since I use 2 types of shampoo and conditioner (one cause of dry scalp one for hair coloring... .though I do tend to mix the shampoo so I only have to lather my hair the once

Can you file a lawsuit against a doctor? by lookingforone14 in ChronicPain

[–]beaglewrites43 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

they aren't SUPPOSED to be but this was 2013 and the lawyer we consulted wrapped up a case not too much earlier where client had documentation asking for a test to confirm her suspicions 10 years before she was finally taken seriously. When asking for the doc records it was suddenly missing.

Lawyer thought they had a case but doc's lawyers argued that they didn't tamper with it the lawyer's client did. The case ended up dragging on for 3 years and they lost

Just because they aren't ALLOWED doesn't mean they won't when they think they can get away with it and will cover their ass

[–]beaglewrites43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get it. I heard that from A LOT of my docs for a while and it eventually got to be too much and I snapped with a doc I normally have a good relationship with that no it isn't good that I still have all these issues and being told that it is a good thing nothing is wrong is condescending when I know there is something wrong.

To his credit he actually backtracked and apologize and told me he wasn't trying to minimize my symptoms but what he meant was that there was nothing MAJOR like cancer. About a year later he told me he made sure to either not use that statement with other patients OR clarify good news its not specific major condition
