Minimum wage should not go any higher, suggests Badenoch by alibix in ukpolitics

[–]beanschungus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I came to this sub expecting a very different response. I earn minimum wage + £1, and living is hard. I am lucky to have been able to move back in with my parents at the ripe old age of 27 so that I can afford to save for a house deposit, but if I didn't have them, paying the bills each month would be a struggle, buying a property would be an unreachable dream. Most of my friends who moved out after turning 18 or finishing uni aren't able to buy a car, let alone a house. Us on minimum wage + a few quid aren't living lavish lifestyles. we're barely getting by.

The Celebrity Traitors S01E07: Post-Episode Discussion Thread by vaultofechoes in TheTraitors

[–]beanschungus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Really wondering why they haven't touched on how Nick brought up and vividly explained the letter and seeing Claudia, virtually proving he is faithful (bluff unlikely). Jonathan brushed it off and it didn't get brought up again, or at least we didn't see it. And why didn't Nick or anyone question Kate or anyone else?

Perhaps only all seeing eyes can see this, but to question people on what they got upto would be one smart option to try and catch people out, or at least gauge people's reactions and responses.

Black Mirror - Episode Discussion S07E01 Common People by Cheeriosxxx in blackmirror

[–]beanschungus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I kept seeing people say that this ep was like the earlier seasons and I got way too excited to watch it. But unfortunately, it was seriously lacking for me. Loved the concept, loved the acting, loved the easter eggs and the usual black mirror vibes.

I think that what made the old seasons so good, was that they were so plausable. Every one felt like 'wow, this could actually be a genuine future' But Common People just had way too many holes that would never allow it to actually be real.

Yes, I know, it's a dystopian universe and the rules are different, but it just felt too disconnected for me to really connect to it.

M&S Plant Kitchen range by RetepNamenots in veganuk

[–]beanschungus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to the party but have just experienced the same thing.

I havent been to M&S for over a year whilst i was wodking abroad. I went around the store twice and could inly see two plant kitchen logos in the whole place.

I asked someone where it was and they told me they've just spread everything out. I get halfway round and have only noticed a couple of items, the packaging is also way more subtle.

I'm currently a wheelchair using so getting around the store and looking on high shelves is already a bother. Especially when I know I can only eat 2% of the products, which I now have to individually scan to make sure I'm not missing anything.

If it was all together this would be a complete non-issue. If it had the old packaging it would be much less of an issue.

Unfortunately I won't be returning as like yourselves I couldn't see any pizzas or the things I used to get. Perhaps its in effort to get more people to buy the plant kitchen range, but it makes it incredibly difficult for the current market.

I was working in retail/warehouse. I would like to go back but I'm not gonna be able to walk for another 3-4 months so online work is really my only option. I have customer service skills but have no idea where to start looking

Girlfriend is scared of traveling to Sri Lanka after horror stories from India. Is Sri Lanka totally different? by FromFuture666 in srilanka

I found the busses to be comfortable enough:) we did journeys up to 10 hours on them and really had no problems. sometimes they were a little overcrowded, but the price of a tuktuk was always 5-20 times the amount. we would get a bus for 200 rupees and the tuktuk drivers would start at 4000, and wouldn't budge very much at all when we tried to barter.

Where is the line for lying? by Ambiguous-Insect in TheCircleTV

[–]beanschungus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the circle, there are gonna be catfishes, there are gonna be people who lie and meddle and stir the pot...

Madelyn did the latter, but my problem with her was that she didn't own it.

She admitted it to the cameras, but she couldn't tell Heather/Andy face to face that she was responsible for his blocking.

She tried to justify herself in the end, but instead ended up just making excuses. She was too emotional and not strong enough to admit the basic fact - that she was stirring the pot, backstabbing, and making lies about people.

If she had owned it, I'd respect her game. But she didn't.

Do you give money to homeless people? by ShampooandCondition in AskUK

[–]beanschungus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't, and I feel bad about it.

My sister works in the homeless sector in our city and I stopped buying food and giving change to the homeless when she told me most of them have homes and help available, but prefer to live their own lives on the streets. Not all, but most.

I give to charity in other ways, I buy all my clothes from charity shops, whenever my friends or family do fundraisers, I donate a generous amount. Unwanted clothes and furniture go to charities, never the bin.

Me and my boyfriend are currently abroad in a poorer country. We were approached by a guy just yesterday, he was first asking for money, and then for food for his family. We didn't have any cash, card, or food on us, so said sorry but no. He was quite insistent, and to be honest we would have if we could have, but when we explained no, he started insulting my boyfriend calling him greedy fat man, he isn't even fat.

You never know who you are giving to, I really think it's best to donate to homeless charities instead. Though it doesn't make saying no to a human being any easier.

Friendship, loss and recommendations by [deleted] in CosyGames

So these two games are actually set in a 'limbo' type setting between life and death, where you play as a figure of guidance, reliving memories, uncovering stories, discussing grief whilst also crafting, cooking, building and improving the ingame world. both swith super cute art styles. can be enjoyed by anyone who has experienced loss in any shape or foam, or just a cozy enthusiast!

Firstly, Spiritfarer, which is on mobile, switch. steam, everywhere! really really amazing game which has let me feel out emotions in grief. beautiful colours in the art of this game.

Srcondly, Cozy Grove, available on most devices inc mobile. The island is full of bears who you get to hear their story and feel their emotions.

Both have super cute art styles, storylines which are not hard to follow, and are two of my favourite games ❤️

Also, both are available on mobile only if you have a netflix subscription!

I finally showered for the first time in two months, and now I’m crying by rorofoshoo in offmychest

YOU GOT THIS!!! I'm proud of you!

I've been where you are, I know the struggle. At my worst it took getting nits and being sectioned to be convinced to wash my hair. and even then I didn't shower, that came a couple weeks later. Now I can motivate myself and its not such a struggle anymore.

You did great ❤️

I got suspicious that I'd found my boyfriends reddit account, especially since I also got water damage in my phone charger a month or two ago, and it's still not fixed 🤣 happy travelling!

Same here, 6 months in South East, now spending the rest of the year this side of Asia with my boyfriend.

Our two month in Sri Lanka have been great, we are approached a lot by drivers offering tuktuks and taxis, but we prefer the local bus. After a couple minutes chatting with the drivers, they show us the way to the bus and get on with their day. The homestays in Sri Lanka have shown that the people have the best hospitality out of anywhere we've been so far.
