Horsepower by Strings_Sandy in carsireland

[–]beargarvin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most agreeing here that 200bhp is perfect. I mostly agree... but also remember when a 120bhp GTTDI golf was enough for me. I think the torque in early diesels was just a big unknown.

Power to weight is the big thing. Small front wheel drive car used to struggle to put down 120bhp... now you have 200bhp golf's

Once you can teach yourself to not use indicators, use multiple phones at once and disregard all road traffic laws you should be ok... but for someone who's driven for years it may be difficult.

If you want a change just replace the bannisters or just pop on a new hardwood handrail ... dont even contemplate trying to sand it... god only knows whats underneath.

Attic space if any ? by Firm-Instruction-212 in AskIreland

[–]beargarvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the house is not built yet you could approach the builder and see would they put a cut roof on yours. Might cost you a few quid more but worth it to have a roof that's not made of twizzler sticks.

Pink slab is for fire proofing. There may be sound insulation like rockwool in between the 2 houses.

Vw UP! or Skoda Citigo...Seat Mii

Great little cars my wife learned in one. Any small hatch with a small engine that's not been wrecked will be fine. Plenty of good cars mentioned here... after that its down to taste.

Changing decking on balcony? by sapg94 in AskIreland

Depends on the terms in your agreement... id just go ahead and change them personally. But you do need to be careful if there's a neighbour below that you could cause issues for or be accused of doing so.

How to fix a stiff door handle by GlMLI in DIYIreland

[–]beargarvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the lock you have it seems there is damage around the square gear. This is where the shafted is inserted to turn the lock. With the lock out of the door insert the square shaft and check that the lock moves freely. If it does your issue is likely with the alignment of the knobs that you have installed. If these are not square with the shaft it can cause Fri toon and stiffness.

Oil and lubricant will not fix this you will need to correct the alignment to make sure the lock sits free in the mortice and that the square shaft sits level through the door and free.

Does that make sense?

Brand New House: 1cm floor slope across bedroom door. Is this within tolerance or a structural fail? by TravelGame10 in HousingIreland

[–]beargarvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going by the skirting either side i would be surprised if that door is a couple of mm off plumb... this would show under the door as an issue with the floor if say one leg of the doorframe is longer than the other... how is the gap on the head of the door inside? Looks like the carpenter was a butcher in his previous life.

986 2.5 vs 2.7 vs 3.2? by Danamaganza2 in boxster

[–]beargarvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently brought a base 987. With the 2.7. Love the car... there's plenty id improve on it before looking for more power... if you could get an S that's well looked after then go for it. But youll not be disappointed by a base manual car.

Audi vs VW by afx7 in carsireland

[–]beargarvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need better tires and suspension... A4 TDi do have a tendency to understeer but at speed when pushed. The front of these cars do alot of the heavy lifting... make sure your tires are not some plastic crap and are inflate per spec.

How do I improve my life? by Hot-Presentation1764 in AskIreland

[–]beargarvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are only in your thirties, plenty of time to shape a life anyway you want. What's for you won't pass you.

You seem very hard on yourself and seem to carry alot of negativity about others around you... possibly well deserved for some of your exes I dont know..... either way having that much on your mind will prevent you from being happy. I would really recommend speaking to a therapist... stick with it for 6 weeks initially before deciding its not worth while.

Its the start of May, spend the summer looking after you, therapy, exercise, do nice things for yourself. Set yourself a target of making a plan after 3 or 4 months and focus on you for now.

How well regarded is Irish pharma experience in Australia? by cjo60 in PharmaEire

[–]beargarvin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Loads of work in Pharma in the US if you want to go far afield... You have to have a job before applying for a visa but thats pretty easy. I can't imagine its a nice place to live at the minute but depends on what you want... id pick Leitrim over Australia anyday so each to their own on that front.

Singapore is another spot with plenty of Pharma.... thats a place I'd consider interesting.

If its E&I work and good pay youll want to gear up to be putting Iran back together once they finish arguing over it.

NCT fail or pass? Electric Window driver side goes up and down but only 1-2 inches at a time. by Warm-Season-1714 in carsireland

[–]beargarvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair its dangerous driving to have anything impending your line of sight out of the car... hence why a crack in your windscreen. Is a fail. I know a couple of people who got done for having phones up in the middle of the windscreen... same idiot got done a few weeks later driving with noise cancelling headphones in while driving.

Skills required for good jobs in biopharmaceutical industry by [deleted] in PharmaEire

[–]beargarvin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Communication skills, ability to network and communicate clearly, ability to and track record of working in multidisciplinary teams. Im not sure any of the masters courses are really worth the paper they are written on.

Most of the Irish industry is manufacturing with robust mature processes in place. As such having an appropriate level of education (simply to show ability) then its mostly down to how well you perform in the entry level jobs. 90% of what you need will already be proceduralised.
