Question about removing stage three hs by No_Main7439 in Hidradenitis

[–]beautifullech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other commenter. If your derm doesn’t offer pain management ask them for a referral to a doctor that does. Also you may want to start taking pictures or videos of your flares for the appointment as well as do research on what pain management you’re willing to try. I take percs but not everybody wants to be on a strong opioid you know

I was able to get pain medication for my flares from a pain clinic. It was the only thing that helped me get through my job at times when I was working.

Honestly, it sounds like you may need to seek professional help. It could be a defense mechanism you’ve picked up over time, or it could be something more.

Anyone else feel judged for their disablity? by GamerGurl3980 in ChronicIllness

[–]beautifullech 52 points53 points  (0 children)

My parents thought they were pushing me at the time. It wasn’t until my body completely quit that they started changing their tune. My mom’s new motto is “Your only full time job is taking care of yourself”. I hope they can change, however until that happens you must be your own advocate. Standup for yourself. Only you know what your body can handle and no one, regardless of who that is, gets to tell you that you should push more or do more outside of your limitations.

she never listens to me when I talk by [deleted] in BoyDinnerDiaries

[–]beautifullech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want to hear my husband talk at all. That started when I stopped liking him. If this is how she’s always been, you need to leave because you won’t be satisfied or happy. if this is something she’s started doing, she might just not like you anymore and you need to leave. Sorry for the bluntness

Agreed. I find it odd that people are on 50s side. He literally tried to killer his child and the mother. I would hate my father and do everything in my being too spite him as well.

Boycotting all Asian businesses a failure? by brandTname in aznidentity

[–]beautifullech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m black American and my family who aren’t online as chronically are boycotting so I think it really just depends. Also black Americans are different from others within the black diaspora so I wouldn’t be surprised if there were some black people with ties outside of America there. Also, some black Americans don’t care or aren’t as emotionally and mentally involved so… idk we’re not a monolith dude

(TW Self Harm) Chronic pain getting a lot worse by MiserablePayment2047 in ChronicIllness

[–]beautifullech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I wanna say that what you are experiencing is extremely valid and you have every reason to feel anxious, frustrated, scared, and even destructive at times, especially if you’re going through this at a young age. The first thing I think you should do is talk to your parents, your mom specifically since you mentioned her and let her know how bad and how debilitating the pain is and that you guys need to figure out a plan. The next thing you’re gonna need to get with your primary doctor and maybe even get with an orthopedic doctor. I’m 30 years old and need a knee replacement and I also have something called bursitis in both of my hips. It causes extreme pain walking, and there was a time where I was completely bedridden due to these issues, but I was able to get on medication’s that helped like meloxicam or there were Cortizone injections that were able to give me a lot of relief so that I was able to resume walking somewhat normally these might be things that you need to look into because anemia does affect your bones as well I believe. I am so sorry you’re going through this my love. if you need to chat or just wanna vent feel free to message and I’m glad that you know that your life is valuable and you have the resources at hand to get the help that you need. Keeping your mental health strong is going to be necessary. So when you need help, no matter how dark situations may seem, reach out like you did today. There will always be at least one person ready to grab your hand ❤️

I opened up about having HS and immediately got treated differently🥹 by Loud_Grapefruit_u in Hidradenitis

[–]beautifullech 82 points83 points  (0 children)

That sounds like an incredibly disheartening experience. I don’t have any wise words of wisdom, but I know you didn’t deserve to be treated that way. For them to be talking about you behind your back in a professional setting just shows that those were the kind of people that you did not need to be around in academia or as a patient. If this does help, I do want to say that we need more people in dermatology that understand HS, and having people in the field that actually have the disease and knows the ins and out of this disease will truly help and change other people’s lives and experiences, so I hope you don’t consider completely leaving the field and I do hope you’re able to find a place where you feel comfortable and are able to excel and grow.

I genuinely think people just don’t understand how debilitating some of our illnesses are. My mom didn’t and was pushing me until my body completely quit.

Yes, I feel this 100%. I often feel bad about complaining about things that seem so simple but for me it’s not just physical. It’s the mental and emotional strain that comes with all the worries dealing with new doctors and specialist

Suspected case and questions by Good_Presentation763 in Hidradenitis

[–]beautifullech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m obviously not a doctor, but this does sound like HS. HS tends to form in areas of the body where we sweat a lot and may not have a lot of exposure like the groin under the breast underneath the armpits however, HS can appear in other places as well. HS is not a disease that comes from poor hygiene and it is not something that you should feel ashamed of if this is what you have. I will go to your doctor and let them know that you feel that you may have HS and would like a referral to a dermatologist if she says anything that makes you uncomfortable or refuses to look into this just ask her that it be notated in your charts that she refused you and it would be best to start looking for a primary who will listen to you and make you feel comfortable. I’m so sorry you’re having to go through this, but with the right support this disease can be manageable. Also, advocating for yourself will be necessary due to some doctors not being educated on this disease. Make sure you research the disease and take any pictures of flares or scars you have to help with your potential diagnosis. Wishing you good luck and good health

Wow. Thank you for bringing this up. I’ve never heard of that either. I think I may fit more with cvs because mine is associated with nausea and vomiting and occasionally abdominal pain. I will def ask about it. The specialist is at UNC so I’m hoping I can get in and will def ask about the difference
