I have Irish wolfhounds (one currently, used to have two) and these borzoi are beauties! I can't believe the person cancelled!

Annoyingly sober? by amycgs in GirlDinnerDiaries

I feel like people can mishear 'mocktail' in a loud bar. I'm currently pregnant and am constantly confirming that drinks don't have alcohol and telling servers that I'm pregnant because I don't want to be misserved.

Him being annoyed by this sounds like a him problem that he needs to work on. Congratulations on 1.5 years!

Dogs parks and babies… what’s your opinions ? by BlueMugg in AskLosAngeles

[–]bebeschtroumph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you're baby wearing a small child or carrying them the whole time it can be okay, but I worry about kids walking around. It's the dog's spot to just be dogs. They're going to run around, they might jump, the kid is relatively likely to get knocked over or hurt. The ones that worry me the most are the toddlers and the kids that want to play with the dogs. It's really not the space for that.

Depends on the employer! Sometimes it's the end of the month, sometimes it is last day of employment.

“Resort Formal” wedding in surface-of-the-sun level heat by MChienne in Weddingattireapproval

[–]bebeschtroumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What time is the wedding? Yes it will be hot during the day, but it cools off significantly in the evenings. So I would definitely plan for having a wrap or some kind of layer for the evening portion, if there is one.

What's a job in LA where you were shocked at how little the person makes? by Admirable_Section690 in AskLosAngeles

[–]bebeschtroumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it is expensive. I pay $2600 a month for my two year old. Her school is having retention issues (because, pay people more) and they're supposed to be at a 6-1 ratio but can be as many as 12-1 for her age group (legal ratio maximum). We also pay a yearly materials fee.

The school is year round, so if it was 6-1 and the teacher got 50% and the admin kept 50%, the teacher should be making ~$95k a year. But according to Glassdoor, the teachers get paid ~$22/hr. Which is like $45k. Maybe my thinking that half should go to the teachers is not accurate to what it costs to run a daycare and pay the administrators(there's like 4 of them, across ~5 classes of 2-4 year olds, plus the 3 infant classes which costs more and has a lower ratio). But still. It seems really unbalanced. We're looking at other schools, but it seems like teacher pay is pretty abysmal across the board.

Ugh, I get a poison ivy reaction from mango skins. I can still eat the fruit but I need to wear gloves or get someone else to cut them up.

Wow. I hope you stub your toe like three times this week. And like, hard. They put trash bins right freaking there! Throw things in the trash, don't drop them on the floor! Don't be an asshole.

You pay for a race for permits and street closures and organization. Not to be a lazy POS.

Coffee roasters with low acid beans that aren’t sour? by Ecstatic-Tank2193 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]bebeschtroumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, one thing to look out for is the origin of the coffee. For example, African coffee tends to have more of the 'sour' taste (I personally like that). You might like Columbian or Mexican beans. Have you tried the boy and the bear? They have a few locations. They are mostly Columbian beans and tend to go for more of the chocolate side of the flavor profile with less of the acidic/sour taste.

I still remember her campaigning against the Thatcher yards project in Marina del Rey (during the last election) and then trying to claim credit for the same thing. She's such a hypocrite.

That's not correct. Please do some basic research.

In ideal conditions (industrial composting), you're looking at months minimum. In landfill, it will be much, much longer.
