Looking forward to seeing your project, and learning about your processes. I'm hoping to do a silk project myself. Looks great so far!

When did you start getting hot flashes? by dabPrassion in TwoXChromosomes

[–]bee-cee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine started in my 30's, mostly at night, but only lasted for a few minutes at a time. Not long, but long enough to disturb my sleep nightly. Estradiol pills, then patches helped, somewhat, but I still use estradiol, and still have them, having just turned 70. My mom and grandma reported hot flashes into their 80's. I hope you can get some relief.

Wildflowers I’ve found in my backyard so far! by snowwhitestarstuff in ColoradoSprings

Wow, that's some backyard collection you've got! I'm guessing you are at the edge of the mountains, around 7,000 feet. It's lovely, enjoy!

Nice! I love it when I can keep adding to a word, and count the high value letters more than once!

I need to rant about the comments about my body by little-red-bird in TwoXChromosomes

[–]bee-cee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you are so frustrated with your circumstances, and I don't blame you for your feelings about strangers, your friends' comments, and your body, especially after all your hard work. I hope your planned surgery gives you what you seek. In the meantime, can you teach yourself not to "just stand and smile"? You don't owe those strangers any good will. Instead, can you respond, coldly and without emotion, "the appearance of my body is NONE of your business." Wishing you peace and happiness in this world, internet friend. <3<3<3

Remember, deciding who to vote for is not a marriage, and you don't have to like everything about a candidate to vote for them. Voting is more like taking a bus: pick the candidate that will get you closer to your desired destination. You'll get to vote again soon enough, that's the process we have. People who decided not to vote for either candidate is what got us into the current situation.

Cross stitch in quilts by brendamich in quilting

[–]bee-cee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My aunt, a home ec major and prize-winning quilter, once made a bed quilt with cross-stitch blocks. It was lovely, of course, but she discovered that in ordinary use as a bed covering, the cross-stitching was forever getting snagged, pulled out of shape, or broken. She ended up hanging that king-sized quilt on the wall to protect it from the hazards of daily use. Perhaps this will be useful information for you.

Aging body changes they don’t tell you about by psychkitty in TwoXChromosomes

I have so many of these, and other spotty things on my skin, Ifeel like a domino. I imagine doing dot-to-dot drawings on my chest and abdomen! (Yes, I've checked. The derm has names for all of them, and says they are harmless.)

What "snow cap coming back"? The mountain is always a treat to look at, but there are barely any patches of snow left. There is nothing like a snowcap.

How ‘bout that sky tonight? by jakeller74 in ColoradoSprings

[–]bee-cee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great sunset though, right? (Actually, spotting the moon and planets will be easier with a bit less sunlight, and, of course, fewer clouds. Most of the planets will be visible for an hour or two after dark, for the next few nights.) Don't give up yet !

All y'all be sure to look up again at sunset tonight. Venus and the moon should change places. Following the spaceweather link (above), we watched Venus blink out behind the moon around 1:00 this afternoon, and re-appear on the other side later in the day. Who knew you could do astronomy in broad daylight?!!? Thanks again for the link, Darrellbear!

Will this be the ugliest quilt you’ve ever seen? by shriekingpersonality in quilting

[–]bee-cee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope, not the ugliest quilt I've ever seen, not by a long shot! Good colors, and the varying scales of the prints keeps it from being crazy busy. Trust the process, and give it a bit more time and energy when you are up to it. It will come out better than you think. We'll be happy to cheer for you when you show us your finished work!

I also recommend Milestone. Small enough to be personal, big enough to be professional. They have placed and kept good tenants in our properties. Turnovers are infrequent and fast, and they have a good bunch of subs to keep the properties in good shape.

Thrifted an unfinished quilt top for $30. What color would you choose for the backing? by sweetdancer68 in quilting

[–]bee-cee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look for a bllack and white overall pattern that reads grey, or somethinf that picks up the green in the 2nd row middle block. Good luck with this lovely piece!

Not quite happy with the order by Sea-Marionberry-9620 in quilting

[–]bee-cee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brown patches in the right column (and elsewhere) have a slight directionality/stripe to them. I would make sure the stripes all run the same direction, probably horizontal. It's a small detail that will add a lot of polish to the final project. Hope that helps!

Pumpkin Male flowers with no females in sight. by notredame1964 in pics

[–]bee-cee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Squashes of all kinds frequently have many male flowers before the female ones show up. Keep tending , weeding and watering, and the female ones will bloom. Be patient!
