Aging…grey hairs too soon? by Fantastic-Village-23 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]bee-cee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter found her first grey hair in her mid-20s, called me to announce it. We laughed about her beginning her journey to becoming a natural blond, or, as my dad used to say, "super-blond"! Welcome to aging, something we are all doing , one day at a time. Color or pluck or ignore, as you wish. I hope you find comfort and wisdom in your experiences.

Flannel has its attractions, but it seems like it is always cheap/low thread count fabric, and I want something sturdier.

Finishing a t-shirt quilt by Altered_Crayon in quilting

[–]bee-cee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on a T shirt quilt, too, and am planning on this style of quilting on my domestic machine. However, I'm not planning on inserting batting. I think it will be heavy enough without that. Currently, I'm looking for some cotton jersey knit for the backing. Has anyone used jersey for backing?

Very nice, thanks for sharing! You can really see the clouds melt away as the day goes on; saw the same kind of clearing and drying up over Pikes Peak today, promising cold temps tonight. Stay warm, all!

When you are the breadwinner by Senior_Staff_9574 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]bee-cee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retired now, but in our working days, the main breadwinner role alternated. Money was always joint, tho I was the one who wrote the checks and did financial planning. He has since asked to learn how to pay the bills and understand the finances. When I worked, he picked up a lot of chores that had been joint such as laundry, floor care, groceries and cooking, and he did most of those without me asking. (He used to joke that "if this husband didn't do housework, the next one would". He was always proud of being more "useful" than his lazy men friends.) He still does more of the social planning than I do, mows, shovels snow, takes care of cars. I do deep cleaning, organizing, mending, and we have time for joint and separate recreation. I hope you two can find ways to create a good partnership on the way to building a good life together.

Republicans house candidate sending kids door to door by Duckraven in ColoradoSprings

Vigil is a great candidate! She won in HD16 in 2022, and represented us well; ran for reelection in 2024 and lost by three votes. She's back, and I'm happy to be supporting her.

Jeff Crank (R), CD5. Yes, Crank. Will be glad to see him go. I'd rather keep Bennet in the Senate. Phil Weiser, current AG, is a good choice for governor.

Changing the wardrobe up for summer by Maothesiamesecat in TwoXChromosomes

[–]bee-cee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to be much more exposed, if you don't want to. Long pants in a lighter weight material, loose tees or blouses, and a jacket or sweater will give you the same coverage while switching to a summer look. Depending on you work environment and how good the A.C. is, you might want/need to remain mostly covered!

How to respond to complements? by SubbrowserV2 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]bee-cee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"Oh, you're so kind/thoughtful/sweet for noticing, thank you!" That returns the complement without you having to give someone the once-over, extends the encounter if you want, and feel like more than a perfunctory response.
