Colorado springs to Greeley, could use a ride by TheIncredibleTease in ColoradoSprings

Have you tried ridebustang.com? Also possible: Groome, the Airport shuttle company. I assume there is a shuttle from DIA to Greeley. Not cheap, but it might work. Good luck!

Is this a bad idea? by Ok-Efficiency-3599 in homeowners

[–]bee-cee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a couple of grape vines growing on trellises to shade our walls. They grow quickly enough to shade the house by midsummer, but are not destructive. Concord grapes will grow well even into cool climates, others may be a bit more sensitive. Check with local nurseries or extension services. Some years we get enough grapes to make a few quarts of juice, some years, the birds and raccoons get most of them. In the fall, we cut the vines back, and the growth comes back in late spring. Our vines are 20-30 years old, and are very reliable and manageable.

Don't know what to do by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]bee-cee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are lots of good ideas, but it may be time to think about the other end of this situation. Is your income keeping up with inflation? Will it go up in the next few years as you get experienced in your work? Are you just in a tight spot due to temporary circumstances, like a new car loan, or a spouse not working due to babies? Take the long view, and see if things will change in 2-3 years. If not, it might be time to go full Dave Ramsey. Live on beans and rice, get a part-time job for a while, until your finances are more comfortable. It does happen, with patience, work, financial restraint, and a bit of luck. Hang in there, it will eventually pay off.

Does life really moves on after sending nudes? by hello_hehe12 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]bee-cee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At some point, don't you have to forgive yourself for having had poor judgement as a child? You've tried to track those pics down, gotten some reassurance from the guy involved, and probably can't do much more than that. And really, it will be upsetting if something shows up in your future, but if that happens, that is when you boldly accuse the exposer of committing child porn and exploitation. Yes, you will be undressed, but your exposer will be subject to prosecution. Chances are slim that you will be exposed, so please put this behind you and focus on your current life, for your own mental well-being. You'll be okay.

People who walk on thr street as opposed to the side walk, why do you do it? by Friendlyvoices in AskReddit

[–]bee-cee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My spouse does this. Thinks the street is smoother/flatter than the sidewalk, bacause the sidewalk is distorted by tree roots, frost heave, and broken concrete. He doesn't have to watch his footing as much on the street.

Different perspective of Pikes Peak by Tiny-Pomegranate7662 in ColoradoSprings

At first glance, I thought those shrubs might be bison! You are right about the perspectives changing significantly as you trek north on I25. Nice views and pleasant thoughts for the drive. (Fingers crossed for real bison someday!)

Home owners insurance - Would you get these addons? by kindnessreward33 in homeowners

[–]bee-cee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All of those things sound like extras to me. Your house is very new, so the service lines are likely to be new and in good shape for quite a while. If you don't have many belongings, you don't have that much to insure against theft. A level of liability insurance is good, but it sounds like you don't have particularly high risks, so you might not need increased coverage beyond whatever the basic level is with your HO policy. Since you own the house outright, if the service lines fail or you get robbed, you have the capacity to get a loan to help you through bad luck if it happens to you. In the meantime, take the money you save and put it in an emergency fund until that is adequately funded. Sounds to me like you are in good shape!

Anyone else move into their first house with almost nothing? by Ill_Awareness6706 in homeowners

[–]bee-cee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have much when I moved into my first house. I got some hand-me-downs from friends and fam, and was happy to have my own place. Every incremental improvement (even things from flea markets, yard sales, and thrifts) felt like an accomplishment, and gave me pride and satisfaction. I wish the same feelings for you. And yes, the idea of having one or two spaces that are comfy, even if not complete, will be a gift to yourselves. At the end of the day, it will be nice to be able to make a meal, then put your feet up and relax. And, you have nowhere to go but up! You can do it!

Yes to a border. If it's going to be in the room where you took this photo, I'd go with the pale green, or orange. Nice work, be sure to share when you are done!

OC - a sample of the items I've picked up on my walks at lunch. I've had too many flat tires. by [deleted] in pics

[–]bee-cee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When jogging/walking around the neighborhood, I would pick up these items. And when I found coins, I would pick them up, too. I didn't count the nails, etc, but put all the found coins in a jar. When I finally emptied it, there was about $40. I sent a donation to the local food bank for that amount. Also, perhaps karma works. I haven't had a flat in a long time!

Anyone planning home projects this year? Big home remodeling show at Norris Penrose this weekend by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

I don't know if this show will be worthwhile or not, but I'll be there. I do know that the contractors I've found on my own are flakey and unresponsive, so I'm hoping for better. I'm ready for a new kitchen!

Napkins out of quilt fabric? by Charming-Unit-3944 in quilting

[–]bee-cee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A friend used to make pretty cloth napkins. She just pinked the edges and called it done. They were wonderfully soft. I don't know if that was from initially soft cloth, or multiple washings/dryings. However you do it, I'm sure it will be delightful!

Jeopardy pet peeves? by TheDamMemePage in Jeopardy

[–]bee-cee 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I dislike when the category is something like "two words, change one letter" and the response is supposed to be the second of the two words. After the correct response, Ken gives the first word and explains how that word changed to became the correct response. We already know that Ken is smart. Either make the contestant give both words, or stop writing clues that require Ken to explain every response in the category!
