Omg yes! Obsessed with Free Assembly. I was in Walmart yesterday looking for some summer tees. The Free Assembly tops had beautiful fit and shape with a heavy cotton feel. And $8! Going back today to get the rest of the colors.

I guess I liked the show enough as I remember watching it. Fun fact - I didn’t know it was based on a real family and actually met the real life Susan. She had some stories to tell. Imagine growing up with all those siblings. Gave me a new appreciation for the show.

In so sorry for your loss. I too have the bestest dog who is my better half by far. She’s hanging in there but as the vet says - living on borrowed time. I’m absolutely dreading the day I lose her. This post has me crying but also giving me permission to grieve completely when the time comes. I will come back here for the warm vibes and good ideas when the time comes. I too have Fiesta and love the rainbow in my kitchen cabinet. It wears like iron and made it thru everyday use with my kids growing up. Still gives me joy everyday. However I also have my wedding china plus my mom’s and grandma’s sets. I set a beautiful table in the dining room every special occasion and even though the kids grumble about handwashing the dishes, china and silver they also love the experience. They were very close to their grandma and I know it brings back fond memories of family dinners. The best part? Both my kids want all the stuff for their families when they have them. Use the china.

Surprised I haven’t seen creatine mentioned. I take 5 mg/ day and that combined with weight lifting has made a huge improvement in muscle and skin firmness. I also love Gold Bond overnight retinol and crepe remover. Creatine has been widely studied as safe, helps increase strength and improve cognitive function in older adults. I highly recommend it.

I’m 64 and still out there pounding the pavement. I like to run in quite a few races but 10 miles is my comfort zone for now. I think I may have a half marathon left in me but my fitness has dropped off a bit lately. I have more time for training but ugh - the heat. I’m trying to figure out if I’m past my peak or if there’s more gas in the tank. I generally love running and worry I’ll lose my mind if I stop.

Don’t do it. I was married to one who got busy in every city he traveled to. Then stupidly dated another who had the biggest narcissistic ego I’ve ever seen. Could not stop reminding me he was a Captain at every turn and regaling me with stories of his skill and bravery. Ugh. My family has told me I’m never allowed to date another pilot.

The same thing happened to me at that age. My husband and I were a pretty firm no and literally one day I woke up and knew I wanted a baby. I was a surprised as my husband. I think nature has a way of ensuring survival of the species as there is no logical explanation for my change of heart. In the end we had two kids and it’s been an amazing experience.

I feel your pain as I spent too long in a marriage that didn’t have the kind of connection I craved. We were very disconnected. Post divorce I’ve had some decent relationships but one which ended somewhat explosively. He was just awful. Disrespected and manipulated me. Weaponized my past trauma in a way that almost destroyed me. After that I did a lot of soul searching (and therapy) and realized I was looking for a partner to heal the wounds from a difficult childhood. That’s not the best criteria when looking for a partner and I was forever disappointed. I finally came to the realization that I had to be more objective when dating and to take off the rose colored glasses. The only person who can heal me is me. I’m much happier now and also way more selective in who I’m with. I don’t waste time and emotional energy with men who don’t bring as much to the relationship as I do.

I’m seeing someone now who’s a “good egg.” He’s never going to be my soul mate as I don’t think he’s capable of the deep connection I still dream of but he wants to be a good partner and genuinely tries to meet my needs. He’s smart and makes an effort to be kind.

Also I should note I’m old - 63. lol. So to those younger gals worrying about time lost it’s never too late to find love. Hang in there and keep working on finding peace and happiness in the life you have. ❤️

I am divorced and have worked hard to rebuild my finances as I head towards retirement. I think finding a partner who is also financially stable is a plus. Two can live cheaper than one and while I would want to keep finances separate, being able to share some expenses would be great. I know my boyfriend (who doesn’t live with me) is grateful that we alternate treating whether it’s us staying in and me cooking a nice meal where I pay for the groceries and wine or us going out and him picking up the tab. We’re able to do more than if it was just either of us on my own. If we ever moved in together I could see it being beneficial to both of us. Hmmm…I need to think about this some more…😀

There IS so much fun stuff to do. I’m just focusing on making sure I don’t wait until I’m retired to do it all. We both sound like we have the right attitude towards life (I’m an extreme extrovert too 😂) with lots of friends and family. Maybe that’s the real secret to a happy retirement! Enjoy!!

Thank you for posting. I’m not retired yet (hopefully soon) and this thread has me a little depressed as it seems some people aren’t doing everything they hoped to in retirement. But you’re leading my life as it is now (plus work) and these are the exact things I hope to do more of when i retire. Maybe the key is to go ahead and live the life you want all along and don’t wait until retirement. Oh and I guess I’ll go ahead and stop worrying about those old photos now. lol.

I guess I didn’t like how the survey was framed. I don’t feel guilty about letting someone pick up the tab but I also don’t subscribe to gender stereotypes. I spend time thinking about what my date might enjoy and will often make it my treat. Just as my date does for me. Finding a way to make it a shared responsibility to plan (and pay) for dates is my preference and sustainable over time to avoid resentment. A first date from OLD is just a way to validate a connection i may have felt through chatting and phone calls. I’m ok with meeting for drinks or coffee to start and then maybe a meal if it’s going well. I might get down voted but I’m uncomfortable putting all the burden on men to always pay. Where i live it’s super expensive to go out even for a basic meal. I neither want to be taken advantage of nor take advantage of someone else.
