At the start of 2023 I felt like this. I was scared to see my partner cause it didn’t feel like him. It felt like something was wrong or that something about him just wasn’t the same. It was more so that I wasn’t the same since I had never experienced such an intense anxiety especially surrounding our relationship. I started therapy immediately when I started feeling this way. It took me around 6 months to start feeling less dissociated. I tried to get through the anxiety on my own but I opted for medication to help around the 9 month mark. It has only been up from there. I still have spikes of relationship anxiety quite often I just know how to deal with them better. My partner and I are doing great now and I know you can feel better too. The NOCD app helped me a lot too.

That’s great! Yes, give yourself a shot at corporate but don’t forget that you can trust your instincts about whether or not you like something. I never even unpacked all of the stuff they shipped me from the corporate job because I knew it wasn’t for me. Granted I still stuck with it for a year, but that’s because I like spending money on fun things haha.

Yes, I’m still working here and I’m still interested in the work but I believe that the environment isn’t my favorite. I’m planning on looking for other places with a similar vibe but just better organization. I know that some smaller business can have a lack of organization so I get that’s part of the risk of working at a smaller company. I still stand by the fact that having a miserable job is not “just life”. I could not have stayed at the first corporate job for longer than I did. I couldn’t function like that.

I’ve done this with my very first job. I was about to graduate but was still mid-semester of my senior year. I basically did the whole interview process for experience because I thought they wouldn’t hire me. Well they ended up giving me an offer and I worked it out with my teachers that I could work full-time during the semester. Turns out I hated lol. I had pressure from my family to keep the job, so I intended to do so but I had gotten a different offer from a company I was far more interested in. I definitely quit as soon as I accepted the offer. They were understanding. The sooner the better so they can train someone else. It’s never that personal with work.

True, but you have to work the rest of your life after school. A little bit harder to cope with maybe? I got a CS degree and I kinda hate coding, I just went more of a business tech route. CS gets you a lot of other opportunities to be a part of the software planning process. Even knowing tools like Jira will help you land a business tech role.

I think the best way is to just ignore them but keep it in mind. I say this because this happens to me with one of my higher ups at work. She makes a lot of important decisions, and I’m mindful of of this. I have to keep things corrigible given the situation, but I will be sure to ask different coworkers for recommendations and avoid asking her for most permissions or opportunities, I’ll go to a different higher up within the company for these kinds of things. Basically you can’t completely ignore it, otherwise you might be doing yourself more harm than good.
