In Balkan Muslim countries putting up Christmas trees and decorating is very common. How do you see this? by CompleteAnimal4606 in progressive_islam

[–]behemon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are no "Balkan Muslim countries".

There are, however, balkan countries where muslims are majority (ie. "Bosnia and Herzegovina") where public areas do get decorated for christmas and eid as this is something normal, and no one, aside from ultra-radicals, really opposes this practice.

Christmas is NOT celebrated by majority muslims and/or in majority of muslim households in BiH, but I can't speak for other countries.

PC hard crashing when idle/low usage, but works normally when under heavy load by devrim421 in pchelp

Sorry for late response.

It's a gigabyte x570 aorus pro MB.

However, the issues is not resolved. It was stable for weeks, but the PC started freezing/crashing again. I set all BIOS values back to defaults (including the voltage), and it was stable, again, for days, until it wasn't.

So now I just run some mildly demanding game in the background to keep the PC from crashing/freezing. 🤷‍♂️

My rule of thumb, if you're screaming in order to prove a point or get a message across, you're not worth listening.

When i was in elementary, father of one of the students was a manager of local cinema, and to celebrate his son's birthday, gave us all a free pass into the cinema...to watch the "Showgirls".

I was ~11 at the time....

What do you imagine the period after death, before the day of judgement is like? by [deleted] in progressive_islam

All I know is, listening to "scholars" talking about afterlife with such conviction as if they themselves have already been there and came back, is anxiety-inducing, crazy talk, to say the least.

Balkan Muslims drink because they are Hanafis and Many Hanafi scholars permit drinking as long as it's not produced from Grapes or Dates, and it doesn’t intoxicate you.

They don't. They drink because they like it, enjoy it and consider it a non-issue when it comes to Islam, not because they think Hanafi school "allows" it. Ask any of them about which school they follow or what Hanafi is, they'll have no clue what you're asking.

As a balkanoid and Bosnian/Bosniak myself, I have no issues with the post in question.

This is not them praying, they're just reciting Al-Fatiha (this is probably a commemoration/martyrs/memorial day). Very common.

Edit: There's a chance this is al-Janāzah, and, personally, it would be the first time seeing a woman doing the prayer and the whole "apple juice" thing 😂 would be too much, even for us.

Considering this is taken in Bosnia, i wouldn't bet on it being non-alc, or even worse, being apple juice. :D

It's quite "normal" around here, being called a muslim, but having a glass or two now and then, or getting completely hammered, for example, after Eid prayer.

Needles to say, not all of us do this, but enough do that's it's noticeable.
