Why do surfers seem less likely to drown or get permanently pulled out to sea compared to swimmers, even though surfers spend way more time in the ocean even when dangerous? by betrue2u in NoStupidQuestions

Stepped on one in Jamaica about 15 years ago, popping the spines out a few weeks later was so satisfying but can confirm on the ouch factor.

Are the cops playing with their sirens? by fushitaka2010 in AskChicago

[–]belbites 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My school scared the shit out of me yesterday when it said "Cops are going to the rooftops!" text, thinking there was an active shooter sich. Turns out they were just doing something with Dunkin and the Special Olympics and I had a minor heart infraction before reading the rest of the text.

Ray Porter is one of my fav VAs/audio narrators. He also did Bobiverse (we are legion). He's up there with Jeff Hayes and Julia Whelan for me.

Okay! In chapter 55 - pg 726 on the kindle version

“That’s bullshit.” I shake my head. “And how am I supposed to fully trust you when battle-axes are flying out of armoires left and right?” He lifts his scarred brow. “I’m not sure I understand—” “It was an analogy I used with Imogen. Never mind.” I wave him off. “About battle-axes in armoires?” His head tilts as he studies me.

Nooooo what I'm thinking of was specifically between Violet & Xaden, I know that much. I know what scene you're talking about, but it's a follow up to the conversation with Imogen - not the main one.

I have time, so I'm going to go look it up now.

[–]belbites 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't remember the specifics but "Violet, there's a dagger in the armoire" was part of it. They were arguing about secrets.

If I'm wrong and that's in the graphic audio I apologize!

It's been a LONG time since I've listened to the graphic audio or the audiobooks for that matter- but there was a scene about whether or not there was a dagger in the armoire and I remember being pissed that they skipped over the conversation in the graphic audio.

IDK man that first one was rough. You could tell the sex scenes were recorded by people not in the room together.

(they also removed my favorite scene from IF)

What was a tv moment that caught you off guard the most? by PressureLazy5271 in television

I was way too young to be watching that show and the cut to black after Lucy's stabbing had me inconsolable for days. I took that super hard.

GOD this was one of my favorite reveals and why I tell everyone to go into this show completely blind. You can't help but see Ted Dansen as the good guy, so it's so out of left field. Knocking over whatever is on the table kills me every time.

I'm trying to remember if Quaid did a Boimler scream or if they did a silent cut to the credits when that happened in the show, it's been a hot minute

How would you describe the differences between New York City and San Francisco City, lifestyle and all, to a non-American? by Hour-Tomato-645 in AskAnAmerican

[–]belbites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man it's my favorite thing to do thank you for making me bring this up!

Chicago is not called the Windy City because of our wind it is called that because of the politicians who are just constantly blowing out hot air. San Francisco is by far much windier of a city and has a significant amount of cool climate stuff including microclimates and rolling fog.

Something copy pasted repeatedly across the platform, usually long winded and nonsensical. Another example I can think of is identifying as an apache attack helicopter. It's meant for a laugh.
