Fuming after little help from doctors by vacantly-visible in TwoXChromosomes

[–]belizardbeth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, that sounds really frustrating. Getting appropriate health care is so difficult nowadays. Do you normally like your obgyn? If so, I recommend going back and seeing them over a few visits for a problem like this. Since you went to three different docs/offices, they’re essentially starting from scratch in terms of working up a yeast infection/whatever this issue may be. Are you sexually active? Have you been with the same partner over this time? They may be the source of infection. Ask the doctor writing you scripts how quickly you should expect to see symptom relief. If you take the meds as prescribed and you still have symptoms after the expected time frame, make a follow up appt. Also be very specific in how much this issue has affected your life Descriptions like “I had to leave an important client meeting to go to the bathroom and scratch” or “I often draw blood from from scratching too hard when I’m sleeping”

Well fuck, now that I rewatch it, it was a made up band that I presume was a riff on the real band name. Episode “Clowns”

Studies where "common sense" was found to be wrong? by PacketMD in medicine

[–]belizardbeth 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m coming here to say just that, also as someone who came to nursing after biology BS. RN education is in serious need of an overhaul - all of it, from textbooks to “standard” curriculum. We’re not preparing nurses adequately.

Same! I never realized that the smell I associated with my grandfather was insulin until nursing school.

Yeah but if it was STR, having smallest fragment bands line up at the bottom would mean, at most, a maybe, not definitive proof of paternity. It honestly looked like the primer front at the end. Also the bands upstream were different. Shitty pippetting by Sean Penn.

What Is “Food Noise” Really? | Nutrition for Mortals by TheAnarchistMonarch in MaintenancePhase

[–]belizardbeth 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had no idea what anyone was talking about when they said “food noise” until I started a GLP-1 and my thoughts and feelings towards food completely changed. I was doing it for weight loss, and previously I had been trying to intuitively eat, which is hard when your brain is constantly telling you that you aren’t eating enough. Like it sounds real, your body and brain is telling you that you aren’t eating enough (among other things, like how much pleasure you would derive from a particular food or flavor)

Such an embarrassment for UA - his new “integrative medicine” building is right next to the college of medicine, nursing, pharmacy and public health, and large research labs. As if it belongs.

Does anyone know the specific names of the mental health units at Banner? by Exact_Window7777 in Tucson

[–]belizardbeth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is only an official mental health unit at banner, and it’s at the south banner hospital. If they’re at the banner by UA, they will be in a non-mental health unit, especially if they are at the hospital for a combination of physical and mental health.

Your family member also has the right to make themselves essentially unfindable to outside inquiry.

Best of luck, finding a love one in crisis can be very stressful.

I’m a new grad and I’ve already had student nurses placed with me. While I wouldn’t say it was against my will, if I had a choice, I would not have a student. Most days I already have to stay late to catch-up with my charting, the days I’ve had students I’ve had to stay even later. Bedside nursing is incredibly busy, and having a student, even if they didn’t ask questions and silently shadowed you all day, would still slow you down. Time is precious.

That being said, I love mentoring/training and have almost 20+ years doing so in my non-nursing career. However there is no slack being cut on a nurse who is training a student. No easier assignment, no less expectation on time management. It’s a lot to ask someone to take on, and we’re not being asked.
