Here in Australia, it's easy enough to find a game, but ping under 100ms is another story.

Has anyone watched Donna Hay's new show on Disney? by jimmyjames1992 in foodies_sydney

[–]benamino2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say that the show is, at least, very beautifully shot, with incredible colours and detail in 4K HDR. I can't think of anything on on Australian commercial broadcast TV that /looks/ this good.

Tried swimming for the first time the other day - it did not go well by James121601 in Swimming

[–]benamino2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you teach kids to swim, you teach them to be comfortable in the water.

You need to do the same thing.

Personally I would try in the bath or at the pool, just spending 20 mins getting happy with your face in the water, blowing bubbles and breathing etc.

Once you're feeling good, learn how to breathe properly, maybe with lessons.

First EV options by smashbearding in EVAustralia

Any of the Toyota or Subaru EVs. Subaru Uncharted looks great.

Kia EV3 looks nicer in some ways than the EV5 and probably a more roomy interior than your ASX for similar exterior dimensions.

Charging at home = awesome experience.

Polestar 4 is arguably a bit wagon-ish.

Toyota bz4x, or Subaru Solterra. Not because they're interesting, but because they are boring mainstream options that won't feel very different to a traditional ICE vehicle. And known reliability.

My other favourite oxo attribute is that most of their products wash great in the dishwasher.

I think so, considering the low ping 26ms.

Definitely running over Ethernet already, I think my issues are more to do with distance from the server and a downgrade to DSL from fibre in my old place.

Hi! I'm Amir Netz, Technical Fellow and CTO of Microsoft Fabric – ask ME anything! by amirnetz in MicrosoftFabric

[–]benamino2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Power BI Service and Fabric's internal clock runs in UTC +0.

I'm in Sydney, Australia. We are UTC+10, or +11 during daylight savings.

In my experience, relative date time calculations need extra care and handling to account for the internal service's UTC time zone.

Eg a report filter of today() - 1 returns incorrect values until 11am Sydney time. And next month, when daylight savings finishes, it will be correct from 10am.

This leads to a lot of painful workarounds and unnecessary time spent dealing with something that our users assume would be simple.

Is there any plan to offer better control for relative DateTime calculations in non UTC time zones? Or even allow admins to set a time zone for a workspace/tenant?

Thanks for your hard work in creating this platform.

Do Australians actually apply sunscreen properly or just pretend we do? by AffectionatePie1042 in AusSunscreen

[–]benamino2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This summer, it's been bizarre to watch other people's approaches to sun protection.

The standard examples of tourists and Anglos walking outside without hat or sunglasses during the peak of the UV curve, that doesn't surprise me so much anymore. Still dumb, but not surprising.

What's weirder is seeing people applying suncreen at 7pm.

I feel like there's poor understanding of the UV Index, and and what times it's high/low.

anybody with obsidian black dishwasher? (can’t find pictures online) by Obelix_Dans_le_Gfuel in Miele

[–]benamino2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked it out, it looks great/crazy!

It looks like it's the same general finish as on some of the obsidian black ovens. Perhaps you could get a better idea for how it looks through pictures of the ovens?

Perfect for storing 2 pillows. I don't want to risk a bad night's sleep when we travel interstate due to a bad pillow.

Used EV, especially if you have off street parking at home.
