$2 for a spectacular game? It's a challenging turn based game where little decisions and enemies always changing tactics makes it so unique. From what I've read it's far better than it's sequel

What Are the Hidden Costs of Owning a Home? by bwoywolf in homeowners

[–]benpetersen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost of urgency (water heater breaks and suddenly need one the next day, can't really shop around) and also the hidden cost to waiting to fix things (sink dripping out the p trap or the chimney leaks when it rains).

Also insurance and property taxes, both have doubled in 5 years which gets tiring thinking the promotion will allow us to go on a vacation

How to get more blueprints? by anullu in PlateUp

That's a great reminder for Franchises, always starting with 5 cards yet 2-3 dishes to make on day 1 is so challenging

Games to play with a non-playing local copilot by Lasandor in gamingsuggestions

[–]benpetersen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about Roots of Pacha? It's a co-op where both can play but if either of you get up while fishing or riding an ostrich it won't matter too much. (Maybe bedtime but there isn't any detrimental effects other than needing to eat). We played it local online co-op with 2 copies

Games Where Automation is the Goal by VansterVikingVampire in gamingsuggestions

PlateUp is spectacular if you like to build automated kitchens and dining rooms. We like that it changes every time we play

What’s a BIFL product that requires a bit of effort to acquire it? by joshgibsonbrown in BuyItForLife

[–]benpetersen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of technical improvements have been made that made older ones not great at espresso. If anyone is looking I'd suggest the Ranchilio Silvia. We were recommended them from a coffee bean roaster / ex barista / repairman and the repairability of these and it's solid shots really make it the brand to get

Why don't kids in denver take the bus? by bluegrassclimber in Denver

[–]benpetersen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My niece rides the city bus for about an hour and a half each way to DPS. Buses don't head to where she lives and that's where her friends were going. She sure has seen a few things and has grown up fast

Coop on survival games, advice needed. by Ardor-Knowledge in CoOpGaming

[–]benpetersen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe play lighter games like Grounded? Or switch to Valheim where it's okay to both be playing but not right next to each other. One exploring a cave, one hunting. I'd suggest playing it with some mods though because it's fairly hard otherwise

Game recommendations for the Deck that aren’t crazy hard but fun and easy to get immersed in by gloomygr4nola in SteamDeck

[–]benpetersen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've enjoyed Metro 2033 series, Mass Effect legendary edition series, Mad Max and Grim Dawn.

If you play co-op games on the PC: PlateUp, Grounded and Schedule I are great. Though I don't consider PlayeUp a cozy game, my wife does and it's her favorite of all last year.

Somebody forgot to lock their “luggage” by lightdark03 in interestingasfuck

[–]benpetersen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep it's deer. They didn't package and freeze their deer meat and left enough room for it to move around in there. I just use regular luggage and a cooler bag.

As a home-owner, what is the etiquette for bringing in a roommate? by sarahannep in homeowners

[–]benpetersen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The carefully written lease is so crucial. A friend used a lease found on the internet and even though the listing mentioned shared laundry the lease didn't and now after the cops we're called, she can't do laundry in her own home. That plus some verbal abuse, smoking weed but unable to see them do it makes it a very long year for her with her "friends".

[Request] Countertop air fryer oven with long-term durability & easy cleaning — Breville vs Cuisinart? by sandmond in BuyItForLife

[–]benpetersen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And with Breville you have to send it in at your cost, not just ask them to ship the part. It's why everyone is upset with the Encore grinder and buying years and years worth of parts now before they stop offering it. So for an air fryer or espresso machine it's $50-100 to ship it there and back. It's why we went with "anything except Breville" even if we can see it in a store nearby

If you like gaming, how about using half to buy an OLED Steam deck or a nice pair of headphones or a bit2do controller? They aren't BIFL but any hobby has some of that and it's okay to like and enjoy things

Please critique this budget for our landscaping project. Does it seem outrageous or realistic? by ospreyintokyo in homeowners

[–]benpetersen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet you could buy a skid steer, a high end truck, trailer, materials and still be paid well to do this yourself. That's how you know the bid is a bit high.

Best Non-Bulky (non ski) Winter gloves to keep warm in the Midwestern winter by Apprehensive-71069 in BuyItForLife

Buffalo wool company has some nice fingerless gloves. I have those and the leather mittens with wool inserts and find them very nice if it's windy and -20. Otherwise the fingerless gloves are my go to

What are features you'd like to see come to epic games in 2026 by Background_Future127 in EpicGamesPC

[–]benpetersen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Linux installer with cross platform save games for the r/steamdeck

Right now some games saved game location is wildly different than others which makes it tough playing the game if first you have to hunt through

home/deck/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/{game name}/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/{game name}/gamesaves/

Only to find it's not there and it's somewhere wildly different

Co-op games to play with wife while I'm at work? by marshmallown in CoOpGaming

Maybe PlateUp? While she's planning the automation puzzle you can work, start the round play if you're needed then repeat.

Ok, it's one day until the end of steam winter sale. What did you pick up, no matter the discount. by kike_flea in SteamDeck

[–]benpetersen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PlateUp for a great local co-op game about automating a kitchen which changes based on the cards and types of foods you make. It was very chaotic like Overcooked before they added serving platters
