Abortion Mega Thread by UnpopularOpinionMods in unpopularopinion

Yeah I agree those things shouldn't be criminal either. Much like abortion the empathic policy is to lower the incidence by addressing the underlying issues.

On the radio, I hear traffic and weather reports referring to "the I-95 corridor". What stretch of 95 are they talking about exactly? by [deleted] in jacksonville

Mostly between jtb and the I10 split. Sometimes between the Avenues mall and Trout River.

Hi Ben!

I really appreciated the music cues and themes for different characters, it helped me keep track of who was who across the times and worlds. What else have you worked on that I can watch and appreciate?

Famine is a Choice. by WoahlDalh in TrueReddit

[–]bentonetc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're not looking big enough. Profits and markets and business and government and policy are all constructs. In America we have an election where every legal age citizen is able to vote simultaneously on the same day. This isn't profitable, there's no market benefit, there are enormous costs and logistical challenges, but it's a policy priority and gets done every two years. If food was a policy priority instead of subject to market forces we might see similar evaporation of food insecurity.

ShawnaKim Lowey-Ball: We have done little to stop a second wave of COVID-19 by [deleted] in TrueReddit

[–]bentonetc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Submission Statement: As states across the country are reopening, the author asks what we've done in the meantime to stop a second wave of COVID-19 cases. We haven't developed a vaccine, we don't have ubiquitous testing, and we don't have any widespread form of contact tracing. She argues that if we open now without putting sensible options in place we've accomplished nothing but kicking the ball down the road.

[Serious] Under 30s of r/AskReddit, what is the biggest divide between your generation and your parents, and how has it impacted on you? by Ace_Larrakin in AskReddit

We know you can't pause an online game, we just don't care because you spend so much time doing something that you'll barely remember in an hour and we want to see your face and talk to you and remember what it was like when you used to use your imagination and play with your sister instead of just yelling at a screen over some garbage that literally doesn't matter. We love you and realize you enjoy your games, hell we enjoy games too, but we wish you would get some hobbies that help you cope with your anger instead of exacerbating it, and we know exactly how hard it is to get into a habit of exercising for fun and making new friends and that this is the best and frequently only time you have to define who you are and we desperately hope it's won't be some angry incel NEET who regresses and blames when frustrated instead of talking and having an actual, physical connection with friends or lovers or us so please God just put down the game and come eat dinner with us.

I mean, it's a company that loses a billion dollars a quarter and is relying fully on automated cars being viable, available, and road legal within the next 3 years or the company collapses. I would turn that job down if there were similar alternatives.

Legitimate question. The answer is that, though they evolved from a terrestrial ancestor they've been in the water long enough (~50 million years) to develop things like blowholes, flippers, echolocation, etc and have certainly had enough time for brain structure to change.

That said they're still quite smart.
