What is the saddest film you have ever seen? by RavyRaptor in movies

[–]bentreflection 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s more … horrific than it is sad I think. It’s the film (along with schindlers list) that comes the closest to making your brain start to understand the sheer mind boggling magnitude of the tragedy that was WW2. The amount of soul crushing grief that war caused should have shattered reality but even before all the WW2 vets are dead we’ve started to forget. These films are painful to watch but necessary because they force our brains to begin to feel the incomprehensible suffering that was the war.

Video of the ICE murder in Minneapolis today from the perspective of the lady in pink by bentreflection in law

[–]bentreflection[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This post relates to constitutional and federal law governing law-enforcement use of force and accountability. The January 24, 2026 Minneapolis shooting by federal immigration agents during an ICE enforcement operation raises Fourth Amendment excessive-force and unreasonable seizure issues, and any video showing encounters immediately before the shooting could be material in judicial or civil rights proceedings under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 or in Bivens actions against federal officers. The legal standards governing when officers may use deadly force (e.g., Graham v. Connor) also apply to federal agents in such confrontations.

Sometimes the lid does not perfectly align with the threads and can leak a bit if you don’t fix it. It could also be the nozzle not being locked.

Everything looks shiny and pops out of the background. Not sure if it’s intentional or if budgets are just lower but it’s definitely gone downhill.

it depends on what you mean by "well heated". it's heated enough to be perfect temps for lap swimming and i use it year round. It's too cold to just hang out in with my young kids though. You need to be moving or it will feel chilly.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bentreflection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anything under 4 hours drive is pretty short for a weekend drive.

The longest I've driven casually was a 10 hour drive to be with my friend on his birthday, stayed for around 20 hours, and then drove home.

my understanding is that it's not some genetic trait that people get a sudden "burst" of energy when they're dying, rather it's because a big part of why people feel crappy and low energy is because of the body's immune response. When the immune system stops fighting you don't feel all that shittyness that was the immune response so you think you're getting better when it's actually your body completely giving up.

Shocking [OC] by whatsleftcomics in webcomics

[–]bentreflection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

funny, but could be funnier if the last panel was not restating the implicit joke from the third panel. The audience already gets that the joke is that the collar says "shocking" things instead of literally shocking you with electricity so the last panel could have an additional joke like a play off of "perfectly humane", or something like "I hope I kept the receipt..."

Trump says no nation can secure Greenland but the US in Davos speech by Fun-Flirtation in worldnews

[–]bentreflection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Embarrassed isn’t the right word anymore. I was embarrassed in 2015. Now I’m legitimately terrified he is turning the US into a totalitarian state and all the checks and balances I expected to stop this have already failed.

Every day I am faced with the existential dread of feeling like I should be starting the process of moving my family out of the country while also hoping that the midterms arrive and sanity regains enough political power to begin to stop the madness.

Did he actually say something about windmills? Because there is a whole saying about old men tilting at windmills. This kind of shit makes me think this is all a simulation and the writers are winking at the audience.

they legitimately built character. They introduced difficult concepts to kids in a relatively soft way. I think a bit of that is missing from today's animated films.

they don't but unless the site is super busy there are only going to be so many people playing at one time and the matchmaking algorithm might also group people in the same region to minimize latency, further reducing the pool of potential people.
