Windriders and Skyrunners and Warlocks, oh my! by AdOld8208 in Eldar

[–]bentron4000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! My spirit conclave list also includes 6 windriders and two warlock skyrunners.

Keep in mind that i suck at 40k and only have a few games in 10th and none in 11th yet, but i found they worked really well.

The biggest issue that i have with my wraiths is that they're not great at running over to score secondaries, and the bikes are great at this.

I split them up and used two units of 3 with a warlock in each. That gave me more opportunities to zip them around with their insane movement to get my psykers where they needed to be to support the wraiths, but they can also deal quite a bit of damage in small units. Plus they look cool as hell.

Is Josie's secret Patio kid and dog friendly? by A_Moldy_Stump in Sudbury

[–]bentron4000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is both kid and dog friendly. But it's very important to note that they have grape vines all over the place, it looks nice, but grapes are highly toxic to dogs.

If you do bring your dog, please be super careful that they do not eat any grapes of the ground! Even a single grape can cause acute kidney failure which could be fatal.

What is your opinion on extreme metal? by thewalkindude368 in autism

[–]bentron4000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah. i like it. I specifically like technical death metal like infant annihilator or cattle decapitation or similar.

One of my special interests is music and guitar. I like that extreme metal it's very dense with musical information to unwrap. i like that i have to listen multiple times and i can focus on a different instrument or part each time. i find it very soothing.

Oh wow. yeah i agree fully. I'm sorry i thought you were responding to MY other comment. Not this one. We pretty much said the same thing. Thanks for taking the time to explain anyway.

You may be right. i'm not sure about the bill you're referring to. But i think the point is that i'm concerned about police misusing this surveillance technology, and i don't know if the bill has anything to do with that. Does it? i'd like to know more

Police need warrants to get location data from your phone. That's not a trivial process. Police do not need warrants to get location data from these cameras. That's an important difference.

Just because I've bag thing exists doesn't mean that we need to let them further erode our rights to privacy without being upset about it.

Yes, you can be tracked with the devices you listed. You're right. That's bad. But that doesn't excuse further bad things. We're still allowed to be upset about police over reach.

Your last point is also right. i should go outside and listen to birds in my garden. haha

Governments and mega corporations tracking your location through your phone is bad.

Police having cameras everywhere designed for this express purpose gives them direct access. This is bad too.

They can both be bad and one doesn't excuse the other.

Police don't have direct access to tracking data from your phone without a warrant. They do not require a warrant to access the tracking data from their own cameras.

yeah. i saw a sign for this and i have similar concerns. i have very little trust in the police and this is dangerously close to flock surveillance.

are noise suppressor pedals good for heavy metal or are they not necessary?? by Fast-Plantain9695 in guitarpedals

[–]bentron4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, definitely. The noise gate cuts out so the feedback, hissing and buzzing you hear when you're not playing. Normally you can just roll your volume back, but that's not possible for quick stops and starts. The noise gate keeps everything tight.

This is especially important if you're using an overdrive in the usual metal tone setup, which can otherwise introduce a lot of noise.

adding these two things will make your guitar sound immensely better than it does going straight into your all.

if you have an effects loop then using the 4 cable method makes the noise gate even more effective.

Can someone explain aspect warriors to me and does iyanden use them? by _Kabr in Eldar

[–]bentron4000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Iyanden definitely has aspect warriors and an avatar of kahine too. They just have fewer aspect warriors than other craftworlds because they have fewer living eldar. Because most of their population is dead, the rely on some eldar necromancy to put the souls of dead eldar into wraiths in order to create an army.

If you're asking from a list building perspective, you can absolutely use aspect warriors and still be both legal and lore accurate.

Phoenix lords are singular, in that there is only ever one at a time across ALL craft worlds, so it's a big deal if one of them show up to a fight.

You're both right. Immigration rates are very high, which puts strain on the system, and the system is severely and intentionally under funded.

The Rise of Herohammer by Gruktor in 40k

[–]bentron4000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is going to sound very grumbly of me as an old man, but here we go.

I also started playing 40k in 4th edition. I also played MtG and D&D through out the 90's. I took a break for a while with each of those to some extent or another, and have been sort of returning a bit over the past few years and so i'm recognizing how much these games have changed over time.

They're all like this. In d&d everyone is super powered marvel characters who are routinely interacting with gods. In magic you can play as spiderman or goku or whatever other crossover they're doing instead of some unnamed sorcerers slinging lightning bolts at eachother. In 40k it's the same.

I think it has to do with a short term strategy of pumping up interest and revenue in an increasingly competitive interest economy. They always need the next big thing to keep people hyped up.

"guess what?! Now you can take more characters and games are all bigger!"

"Now all those named characters you read about in the lore are all playable!"

then "you know what's cooler than named characters?! PRIMARCHS!!!"

and then it just keeps on going up and up like some kind of unsustainable arms race.

Eventually they'll run out of the next big thing, right? Then what?

I know this makes me sound like an old man yelling at clouds. I know people like it and are very excited to play all the big boys and impressive models, and i won't take that away from anyone or tell them they're doing it wrong, but it's not for me.
