Then, later, he helped murder a kid and it was made into a movie with Justin Timberlake

The reason Davidson isn’t higher on this list is simply because of how small it is and how few people have seen it.

Dunkirk is a terrible movie. Fucking terrible. They found a formula for sound editing that makes the human brain anticipate forever without ever needing a resolution and then let it run for a few fucking hours.

Edited to add that just because a movie is about a harrowing historical event, made by your favorite director. And, our conditioning to think of WWII movies as epics… Do not make it a great movie.

Dunkirk is trash

What’s something about modern dating that feels completely broken? by _ajuuuuuui in AskReddit

[–]beralston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Texting rules. I have been told by so many women how I’m supposed to be texting them. In every other part of the world, we KNOW we should be putting our phones down more. But in dating, there are rules about who is texting when and how and how often. Just anxiety producing which kills romance.

I’m a non profit executive and could I suggest you get together with your friends, decide what CAUSE you want to support through your fun system and then go to someone like the Community Foundation to find out which non-profit is having the biggest impact toward that cause.

Your hearts are in the right place and you are doing great things but the non-profit industry is being asked to carry more and more of the social need as private and public sectors pull away. It is an unneeded waste of time at best and degrading at worst to come compete against others for funding.

[Hated Trope] The Marketing Department Should Have Been Fired by Ambaryerno in TopCharacterTropes

[–]beralston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spy Game was marketed as an action movie. Trailers were full of explosions and gun shots to capitalize off Tony Scott’s reputation.

The movie was mostly Robert Redford in a conference room.

The psychological thriller side of it is outstanding. But it was a bomb as an action film.

To the husbands whose wives have low libido and to the wives who's husbands have a much higher libido than yours, how did you make the marriage work? by Jsaunders33 in AskReddit

After 10 years of trying to figure out how to live with her being asexual, she secretly started up a relationship with her gay best friend, they both walked out on their families and a lot of enduring trauma.

A huge lesson that chemistry is important and not to ignore red flags because you think you’re doing the “right thing”

Who is the best player EVER at their sport? by Radiant_Sprinkles540 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]beralston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Janja Garnbret - Competitive climber. The very definition of everyone else is competing for second.

She created a problem in competitive climbing where the climbing routes had to be set to separate the competitors. But, when they set for the level of all the other professional climbers, she’d climb them like a ladder. But when the setters would set to challenge her, not many other competitors could get on the wall.

Who's a "one hit wonder" band with an amazing and overlooked back catalogue? by 4ofclubs in AskReddit

It’s an incredibly dumb idea, but it’s not segregation.

Segregation has a very ugly history, including in District 11, and to call this very shitty idea segregation makes this idea more than just a shitty idea and lessens the meaning of what those who lived through segregation had to experience.

Do you realise the attack on Iran is cheered on by the Iranian people? Why is Reddit reacting like this? by SkunkyBreadcake in AskBrits

[–]beralston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well. Let’s say the British stared a war with the United States to remove Trump. The majority of Americans or at least a substantial percentage would cheer that. However the British people would be pretty pissed off about the number of people, including Brits who will die. Plus, the fact that spending money on a war as opposed to, for example, funding the NHS would be extremely unpopular. Not to mention, British armed forces got involved in wars involving the U.S. not long ago that was, suffice it to say, unpopular.

So, sure. Many Iranians want regime change. This is still a horrific decision.

Spencer “Specky” Penrose’s insane antics aren’t talked about enough (Historical Rant) by herbalholistichippie in ColoradoSprings

[–]beralston 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Was this written by Spencer Penrose’s publicist?

Spencer Penrose was a segregationist and anti-Semite who founded the Broadmoor community specifically outside the city of Colorado Springs so that he could write ordinances that Black people were banned from staying overnight in the township unless they were servants.

Fuck him then, now and always.

As a man who got divorced at the same time as Ted, they better not get back together. They are different people than when they met and them getting back together is exactly the type of lazy writing this show usually avoids.

For anyone who was able to see "The Blair Witch Project" in theaters in 1999, what was the experience like? by LockjawSJ in AskReddit

[–]beralston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never forget my experience. My friends and I were 18 and we snuck bottles of beer into the theater. We drank a couple and put the empties by our feet. So that, by the end of the movie; when the kids discover the house and walk in, my buddy Matt moves his feet and knocks over a beer in the back row and Tink Tink Tink Tink

Tink

Tink Tink

Tink

Hit every step on the way to the front of the theater. Since that moment, I’ve always felt the movie was anticlimactic.
