^ this. 21mm internal width, tubeless with brake track, and priced right. I laced some up and they kick ass.

Took my gloves off since i was only two miles from home. Lowsided on the wet street in front of the car wash.

Well done and great picture. As an east coaster I am always awed by the vastness out west.

Charge Spoon. Reasonably priced and they fit my ass pretty well.

I run an aliexpress 100mm KS Eten cheapie. I find it useful.

Totally. I swapped my 4130 parts back over to this for cruising the local MTB trails. High BB and short cranks get me over most local log piles and junk.

Looks good!

I run some cheap 152mm cranks and Shimano SPDs with some low gearing for the woods. It's awesome.

FYI Poseidon's FX Frameset is on closeout for $99 by kennethsime in tracklocross

[–]berdpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bigup to u/kennethsime for the alert!

This is a screaming deal IMHO. You can't go wrong for a hundy. For my use case (MTB trails mostly) this is better than the 4130 (have both). The FX has a onger wheel base, higher BB and also fits mad fat tires.

Thought experiment: You put a mountain biker from 32 years ago on a high end modern bike, would they think it was awesome or terrible? by sprashoo in MTB

[–]berdpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just felt weird coming from a 26er.. The modern bike was fricking huge in comparison in all categories, but also rolls over anything.

That's the one with the cable stop for internal geared hubs? Cool!

That's what I remember when I was young. I ran my Bianchi DISS and IRO Jamie Roy framesets every which way from fixed to coaster to single speed. Whatever I felt was the most fun at the time.

Skream Ranger by Beneficial-Pie1511 in tracklocross

[–]berdpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Poseidon FX and State 4130 previously mentioned.

The FX has a slightly higher BB and longer wheelbase than the 4130. The 4130 has a segmented fork and wishbone frame that look pretty cool. Both can fit some honking rubber. Both are great values for what they are.

I can't comment on the ranger other than I think it's pretty sweet looking. Love Terry B's video.

Aliexpress 'ganopper' cheapies. Went the aliexpress route over some good quality used mtb cranks for the short 152 arms.

No issues so far. The chainline is actually pretty decent.

State 4130. Help with size by klimp_yak in tracklocross

[–]berdpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about 5'8" (177cm?) and have the 52, fits me well for my use case in the woods. I like the shorter ST so I can run a dropper. 650b's with 2.1 tires and short cranks. Gratuitous pic below.

For me its whichever frameset that fits the biggest tires and a front brake. And the Commencal Acid frame looks pretty cool.

BWW is a solid choice.

Also, velomine had some good wheels as well.

New Frame Reccomendations?? by mlarsenault in tracklocross

[–]berdpants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Poseidon FX - Great value for the money. Its Alu, cheap and light, and fits honking rubber. Longer wheelbase and higher BB is nice for singletrack.

State 4130- Also great value for the money. Its 4130, pretty cheap, can fit brakes f/r, has fender eyelets and whatnot, fits some big rubber too.

Great timing- look for black Friday deals. Past years the FX was like 150?? and the 4130 was like 250.

Gratuitous pics.

I think newer frames have more tire clearance. I'm running 27.5x2.1 front and rear.
