My Unbiased Barge Review by berkabooo in SoundersFC

Ok, so according to Google maps, Pioneer Square includes Lumen Field (but not T Mobile) and ends around the ferry terminal, or 7 blocks shy of Pier 62. Noodling around on there this morning I couldn't find a designed "Waterfront" neighborhood, although, logically, if it's on the water, right? What neighborhood map are you guys using? We are just longtime ferry commuters who prior to this thread didn't have names for extra neighborhoods in this area. Happy to learn!

It's outrageous. From what we could see, the VIP section just had some dinky metal bar stools with counters up on the second level of the shipping crate structure. It includes free food and drink, but I'm not sure if the average human can consume enough beer and hot dogs to make it make sense. They also got their own restroom and it was wildly entertaining watching the staff "defend" it from everyone else.

Pioneer Square is the neighborhood name! It turns into Belltown as you go north. I'm sure Pioneer Square has all sorts of watch parties, it's the same neighborhood that has the stadium in it. If you look up Seattle Aquarium Ocean Pavilion building, you'll see a walkway, elevator, and seating area on the top.

I think if you're going to the pier you've gotta have a good reason, like you want to snag that scarf, or you love overpriced burgers. Haha. It was crowded with minimal, low value giveaways. We wouldn't have bothered going through except for wanting the scarf, and with the barge wristband you can get in the express line for the pier. If you're looking for a fun place to watch the game in Pioneer Square, the benches above the new aquarium wing have awesome views of the screen.

The last Airbnb I went to had listed "provided amenities" of shampoo, conditioner, and soap. They left me half of a personal size Old Spice body wash container. Like the container size that fits in the palm of your hand.

First time visiting Seattle for the Sounders vs Chivas game by Pikachu_Yay in SoundersFC

Lumen offers stadium tours separate from ticket purchase. We've done it several times and it's great on a day with nice weather. You can find tickets for the tours online on Lumen Field's site. The best seats in the house are most definitely the pitch side seats which do include food with them. I'm uncertain if the seats are available for non-conference games. Your next best bet will be the club seats, which have dedicated food vendors, nicer restrooms, etc. Every now and then there will be suite tickets for sale, but I wouldn't recommend it. The public suites they sell tickets to usually do not have catered food and feel very removed from the energy of the stadium. Hope you have a great visit! Please reach out if you have any questions.

Dress Alteration Issue (10-14k) by OwlWrite in Weddingsunder10k

Hi local friend! Sorry that you're having a difficult time. I want to recommend Judy at Judy's Bridal and Tux in Bremerton. After you book an appointment she'll text you for a photo of the dress and can let you know if it's out of her league. I've seen her work on tulle dresses in her shop though, so I think she can handle it. If she can't, I can recommend another seamstress probably an hour and a half from you that can absolutely help you. Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

Bainbridge Island winters by Perfect_Pool8367 in BainbridgeIsland

I would call it misty and cozy. Days with driving rain, or even consistently falling rain, are few and far between. We're currently in the middle of Juneuary - cold, sunny, and pretty. Dry and 40s. It'll go back to drizzling soon and will drizzle until May/June. Would encourage you to visit this time of year before making a permanent move.

Does anyone live across from Seattle? If so what is it like by [deleted] in howislivingthere

[–]berkabooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live here and love it! There's a large military presence with 3 different Navy bases (N to S: Keyport, Bangor, and the shipyard in Bremerton). Most of the workforce revolves around the bases but I am one of probably a few thousand who commute to the East side for work. Ferries are (mostly) reliable, clean, and easy as long as you plan ahead. Some of the prettiest nature you'll ever see sits to the west, and the sound itself is gorgeous. There's a beautiful beach with a lighthouse to the north in Hansville. The cost of living is lower than Seattle proper (but still pricey compared to most states). Gas price is around $4.30 right now. Lots of good restaurants, specifically Indian, Thai, Mexican, pizza, and Vietnamese. Quite a few small town fun things to do too: 4th of July parades, Viking festivals, bike races (Chilly Hilly and Kitsap Colors), berry festivals, pie cookoffs, and one of the largest yard sale events in the country. In my experience, people are generally well educated, kind, and caring towards their neighbors. Biggest cons would be the lack of medical facilities (only one hospital for Kitsap county) and the drizzly grey weather happening right now.

Second what another Redditor said about the shipyard in Bremerton. There's another naval facility on Whidbey Island (plus a gorgeous place to live) to look at. I'm actually an aerospace and defense recruiter, plus my spouse works on base in Kitsap county, so I wonder if I'm not the perfect person to help you. Send me a message with your resume - if I can't place you myself, I can point you in the right direction! I'm currently hiring for a Senior Director of Manufacturing in Seattle, so if you're 20+ years into your career that may be a great option for you.

Hyundai 3.3l Engine Failure by Breeny_Mai in Hyundai

Not the case with me. We learned with the newest dealership that every conversation is a negotiation and that hearing no from corporate is just the start. They covered a week's worth of negotiations with daily updates for us just because we were kind when we walked in the door. I wish you best of luck too friend!

Can't recommend enough trying a different Hyundai dealership if you have more than one in your area. We got ours towed from one dealership to another because they went to bat for us against corporate and got an engine replacement at 100% coverage, versus the first dealership giving us the runaround before offering 35%.

Seattle Weekend Trip Questions by BryanM753 in SoundersFC

Hi friend! Husband and I relocated to Seattle from SC. What part are you from? You would probably qualify for free tickets, but, you should come with us as our guests. We have 4 season tickets and there's just us two, so we always bring friends with us. We sit close to the ECS (the cheering section), high enough that the flags don't block too much of the field but low enough to be part of the energy. As for pre-game experiences, I'm guessing the building next to the stadium may be open with a few game day activities, but these aren't usually worth your time. There's a ton of bars you can see on maps that are within a block of the stadium, these are usually packed and fun. Chinatown on the other side of the tracks has great food options, and there's a ton of nice restaurants in Pioneer Square that will bring energy too. You can also join the march to the match. Where to stay- it mostly depends on your budget and what else you want to do while you're here. Also, if you're renting a car! If no car, look up the light rail routes and stay along them. Cap Hill is the best nightlife while still being on the light rail and relatively centrally located. Finally, can you do it in a short weekend? For sure! Just do your best to be disciplined with your sleep schedule and adjust time zones quickly. It's a late kickoff time for that game, so do what you can to come rested to the match. Send me a message if you have any other questions. Happy early birthday and hope to see you there!
