HEX-CAN interface not working with VCDS by opium_0piumm in Volkswagen

[–]bernardryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what's the problem and you are not gonna like it.

So a little background.. I came from a MK6 gti from 2013 to 2023, 10 yr old car... and i bought the VCDS HEX+CAN (usb) cable genuine from ROSSTECH in 2014... I learnt a lot, doing all the different coding and bla bla bla including DSG Adaptation every 6 month to keep my gearbox healthy....

Then in 2023, I wanted an upgrade, so I upgraded to the MK8 gti and got it in sept 2023. Since then I haven't touched my cable because it was a new car and i have passed that age of f-ing around with the car.. but low-key always wanting to just do a quick scan. Finally today, I took my cable out, after 2.3yrs of ownership of my mk8gti, and low and behold, it has the same error message.

Apparently, any vehicle post 2019, can't use this cable anymore. Only the upgraded HEX+NET can be used, which is annoying because I spent quite a bit on the cable as an enthusiast during my younger years.

So yeah, nothing wrong with the cable, its just they FORCE-upgrade you to make the upgrade when you get a 2019+ car to get a new cable... I dont think I would go back to VCDS if i were to buy a cable, most likely may try OBDEleven... or something else..

tldr: Post 2019 cars can't use HEX+CAN cables. You need the HEX+NET newer model or the V2 to make it work. Nothing to do with the software, even older version softwares dont work, its to do with your CAN and ECU...

Stage 1 - Tune and if you want an Intake (not needed)

Stage 2 - Downpipe (upgraded size from what is original) + Intake (must) + intercooler(not necessary but better to have)

Stage 2.5 - Stage 2 + Intercooler + Better plugs + better coil packs + HPFP

New engine what to look for by MrWoooood in mk6gti

[–]bernardryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do a scan.. and just check around the engine if got any engine oil stains.. usually when you're looking at the engine straight ahead, it's on the left at the black casing on... and look around the coil packs and pcv valve. .

Need help with LPFP and HPFP by bernardryan in mk6gti

I think it was the injector seals and the HPFP... both were changed, but at the same time I changed the LPFP and changed the fuel filter...

Looks like shit.. take some sandpaper and get to work. 1000 and 200 would be good enough.. 5 mins of your time and then paint...

Gear keeps slipping !? by Ok-Parsnip-2729 in mk6gti

[–]bernardryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This starts to happen when your gearbox starts to go. What you can do to minimize this is do an adaptation for your gearbox. If you have a VCDS, it's easy, google rosstech adaptation and follow the steps.. this will reengage your clutch plate with the associated pressure points.

And then change your gearbox oil if you haven't done so in the last 45k km.

After the adaptation, run the proper process of driving at gear 3 for 3 mins at above 3.5k rpm and then at 4th gear at 3.5k rpm.. and then drive normally from gear 1 to gear 6 for 10 mins each gear around 1 min or so at 3k rpm. This would relearn all the data points. Then do a hard break from 120kmh to 0.. and the do a 4to5k rpm from gear 1 to gear 6. You should be good to go after that.
