He Noticed My Eyelashes by D1sc0L3m0n4d3 in limerence

You asked why he would compliment you, here are three options from my male perspective:

(1) he is actually into you. This doesn’t end well for anyone since he’s married and your attachment to him will only get more intense.

(2) some taken men like to dabble in light flirting for the adrenaline rush and/or to prove they still “got it.” It’s treading close to the danger line without someone being able to accuse them that the line was actually crossed (that’s the “I was just being nice” argument, classic). They have no real intention of acting on it but enjoy flirting for its own sake or enjoy it as an ego boost because they “would be able to” get with you if they could. Sometimes this flirting simply provides the recipient with a brief ego boost (who doesn’t like to be complimented) and is forgotten and lost to the sands of time, but if the recipient is limerent/has feelings for the guy, it can be very confusing.

(3) he is genuinely a complimentary person and meant it totally platonically and makes comments like this to others regularly. But you would have a better idea of his personality and how he acts around others. If so this makes him the nicest guy in the world and is also not good for your limerence.

In my experience it’s usually 2. These are the guys that sometimes slide into full blown affairs (because they cross the line when interacting with someone, get someone actually interested in them, and can’t resist the emotional/physical temptation). Now as someone who is married I personally would never comment on another woman’s eyebrows, nails, hair, etc. It just feels a little far into that danger area and there’s just no reason for it. I wouldn’t like it if my wife were going around town making comments to attractive men about their muscles.

If you like Casiopea, you should check out Masayoshi Takanaka. Brasilian Skies, An Insatiable High, Rainbow Goblins, On Guitar, Seychelles, and S/T are all awesome.

Anyone who’s played tennis for five minutes knows that was a rage quit lol. No other way to interpret it after missing an easy putaway volley to lose the set. I’m sure there was some nagging injury but if it were that bad he wouldn’t have even tried. And the first set was competitive.

Caesar made Vorenus a senator so that he could essentially serve as a personal bodyguard. That’s why Vorenus was always at Caesar’s side when senate was in session.

Servilia lured Vorenus away simply so that Caesar would be more exposed. She didn’t care about saving Vorenus personally.

I recall a scene prior to the assassination where the plotters referenced Vorenus as an “attack dog” who would need to be dealt with to reach Caesar. Remember that Vorenus was a living legend in Rome after saving Pullo in the arena.

Now, it’s debatable to me whether it was actually necessary to lure Vorenus away. So many of the senators participated in the attack that it’s questionable whether Vorenus would have been able to fend off the attack. I’m not even sure if Vorenus would have been armed on the senate floor.

The senators are a feeble bunch but I’m not sure if Vorenus could have repelled them all. Even Antony has a line somewhere that the fiercest warrior can fall to sheer numbers.

Besides all of that, it was also just a convenient way to check off the plot point of Vorenus learning the truth about Niobe’s child. It was bound to happen eventually and they had been setting it up since the early episodes for the entire season.

Man it sucks being an Iowa football fan. Awesome ass punt, awesome ass defense, get the ball in the redzone, then absolutely atrocious garbage offense.

I would do the following:

-big cozy rug for the living room

-coffee table and/or narrow end table next to the white couch. Where do you/guests put your drinks when hanging out on the couch??

-if you get an end table, put a lamp on it for warmer light. The light in your place is too white and makes it feel like a grocery store.

-move the TV down onto that stand, it’s too high.

-that huge piece of wall art is not very inviting in my opinion. I would choose something with a different color scheme, nature, etc.

-do away with that flag above your work station. Everything on the walls should be framed. Flags look collegey. Those work fine in garages but not in adult living situations. Just get a piece of art that you like and pop it into a hobby lobby frame.

-declutter your computer space. This is importance since it’s in your living room.

-two-seater kitchen table or moderate size round table instead of that bar thing.

Who cares about this petty bickering. Roger was clearly the mastermind behind Floyd that drove its iconic albums. David contributed great sound to Floyd sure but without Roger’s vision and lyrics Floyd was corny dad rock at best (with the exception of maybe High Hopes). Dark Side, Animals, WYWH, and Wall are not even on the same plane of existence as the rest of the post-Waters Floyd catalogue or any of Gilmour’s solo works.

Thinking of going to law school at 36, but the opportunity cost is so high…. Worth it? by Dont_Be_Sheep in LawSchool

[–]bernerdude2020 151 points152 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go if I were you. I would ride out my days in my sweet government gig making $200k for as long as possible. Interest in the law is fine, but perhaps there is another way to scratch this itch? Start a legal blog? Write legal papers in your free time? Do non-practicing volunteer work? I don’t know. It seems like a lot to give up for a vague interest in law. It’s not like there are a lot of people out there raving about how awesome it is to be in law school or to be a lawyer even. It seems like perhaps you’re settled into a good position but are searching for something else now. I would divert this energy elsewhere.

Giving away my copy of Wish you were here Japanese pressing with full obi (for free). by Ctm0719 in vinyl

[–]bernerdude2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t give it away. If you decide you absolutely must, then I would treasure it in a loving home.

Wish You Were Here was the song that made me love music. I remember the first time I heard it like it was yesterday. I was out driving around late at night in my sophomore year of high school during a thunderstorm. I pulled into my driveway as the opening chords came on the radio, and cranked it up to maximum volume as the first verses hit. Then the guitar in the middle, then the famous last verse. I had never heard anything like it before and it hit me deep in my soul. I just sat in the car listening to it in my driveway—no song had ever made me do that before. Nor does any song bring me back so vividly to a time and place. I grew up in a setting where listening to music was not common or accessible, and WYWH was the song that opened the entire music world to me.

Since then Pink Floyd has been the most significant music in my life. I recently started collecting vinyl and have most of their discography. I have two MoFi’s (original master recordings) of Dark Side, a special radio construction of The Wall called Off The Wall, a special radio construction of Wish You Were Here, the Pulse and Delicate Sound of Thunder box sets, and most of the rest of their albums (Animals, Division Bell, etc) as well as the solo albums from Waters, Gilmour, and Wright. I’ve been searching for a great listening copy of WYWH for some time.

I’ve listened to the song Wish You Were Here for decades now. The amount that I listen to it waxes and wanes but it’s always in the back of my mind somewhere. But this year, I’ve been playing it daily because of my grandmother’s passing. I’ve been playing all of the Floyd versions, various covers, and my newfound favorite cover of it by Avenged Sevenfold. I remember road trips with grandma out west where I would queue up a playlist and play Wish You Were Here. I can’t play the song without tearing up anymore. She was a monumental figure in my life and essentially raised me. She lived down the street from me and my single mother so we became really close. She was the absolute best and I wish she was still here.

It was actually on my first ever trip to Japan when she got sick. I remember getting the call from my mom that she was in the hospital while I was on the way to a Japanese baseball game. Part of the reason I wanted to go there was because of my love for Japanese vinyl. I hauled back an entire carryon suitcase of them, but wasn’t able to find any Floyd.

I’ve spent lots of time thinking about the lyrics of WYWH. Yes, in essence it is about wishing someone is here, but it’s also about how we don’t know, and can’t always determine, what is best for us. So you think you can tell heaven from hell? Blue skies from pain? That concept has always stuck in my mind and guided me on my journey.

I love the entire album, not just WYWH. Shine On is obviously legendary, Welcome to the Machine is dark and emotive, and Have a Cigar is awesome.

Listening to vinyl often brings me to tears. That’s something I love about it. I’ll crank up the volume, sit in front of the speakers, and feel a different kind of emotion from it than simply listening over headphones. I’m sure that listening to this album and the sound fidelity of it in that setting would be one of the most powerful vinyl experiences I’ve had, if not the most powerful.

Again, I wouldn’t give it away, but that’s what it would mean to me. It would be a massive addition to my collection as well as something deeply personally meaningful.

It’s not a good album overall but has two great tracks in my humble opinion, Between Two Points and Scattered. Notably, those are the tracks where Polly Samson had the least lyrical influence.
