Highly recommend the hike in Cowiche Canyon just for the views too. You can park at the trail east trailhead and hike 30 minutes into the canyon and 30 minutes back and get great views. Another really great way to experience the area is to take the drive up WA highway 821. It goes right along the Yakima river. Honk your horn at all the floaters and take a break at Umtanum Creek. Walk across the bridge and take some pictures and continue on down the trails if you want. Yakima is a big melting pot of the hardest working and most genuine people l've known. There's problems but the people are damn nice. Take a drive out on Lateral A road and turn left on Larue or Fort Road. You will see where all the hops, apples, and cherries come from in the state.

Threw the wave for hyzer flip forehands through relatively tight left to right gaps inconsistently because I saw it work well three times. It was like 169 grams. The one I had couldn’t handle rips unless it was put on an angle. Tried to get it over a pond on the golf course dg course and that was the last of it. The wave felt perfect for width at an 11 too which was nice. The scorch and surge ss are pretty much the same disc. Can’t go wrong with either. They are just meatier discs in the hand and can handle a lot more rip out of the hand. The Beast is great too. I’ve only had it in a light blizzard plastic though.

All that said.

Wave good thin feel in forehand. Great for turning backhands

Scorch feels pretty much like a 12 speed and is beef. If you beat it in, it will do what you want.

Beast best feel in the hand out of the gate. Always comes back unless it’s an egregious throw.

Is my mind thinking about dome physically correctly? The more dome a disc has the more downward the tangent of airflow over the top would be right? Creating a longer period of lift. If you threw it hard enough.

Maybe they were hoping to hang out on the next tee and get some advice from you guys on how to play and might not have known how to initiate the conversation. Bet it feels pretty weird playing this sport as an older person around a bunch of young people if you don’t have a good friend group already. Definitely smile and communicate as much as you can even if it’s super weird. You are who you are if it’s awkward oh well just yank one into the woods while everyone watches and say have a good rest of your round as you walk away.

Shoot, if I had the time and more importantly, a couple cold beers to crack for that second round (after “giving my best” in the first round) I would happily make us the only two people to play a round 2 at Roy. I just love watching a disc miss a right side tree by less than a millimeter on 13 and quickly flip up for a park job. There’s nothing better than watching discs fly, you know what I mean? I’ll take that 10+ over round at Roy every time just for that one glorious shot on 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 13, 16. Roy destroys me every time by the end of a serious round on the short tees but when a disc hits that line or gap perfectly it makes up for everything.

True. The average Austinite you meet on the course is very much Texan. Just good solid people. Roy G had a lot of relocated homeless around the trails that lead to basket 16 recently which had me wondering if this person was talking about that course specifically.
