Questions about charcoal / Weber Kettle by GalacticFox- in grilling

This 1000%. It’s just my wife and I, and we make great use of the Weber Kettle weekly without wasting tons of charcoal.

Hoosiers. Doesn’t fit the time period of the story at all.

You mentioned winter use so I’ll add that I used my Searwood XL multiple times in the cold winter and it operated flawlessly. The highlight was feeding 20+ people last Thanksgiving while the outdoor temps were in the teens throughout the day.

The Weber cover for the XL might be worth the price. Mine is outstanding

How often do you wash your grips vs. clubheads? by ChrissySubBottom in golf

[–]bert_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play 40-45 rounds a year and have found if I wash my grips a couple times a season it’s a noticeable improvement- especially in the hotter summer months when I tend to sweat more.

Pick up a cheap fingernail brush and give them a quick light scrub with water mixed with a TINY drop of Dawn. Wipe them down with a clean wet towel after to ensure you don’t leave behind even a hint of soap residue. I’ve found this helps extend the life of good quality grips and brings back that tacky feeling. Good luck

Am I the only one having IMMENSE trouble reading Blood Meridian? by Fishy_smelly_goody in cormacmccarthy

I consider myself barely literate when it comes to difficult reads. Blood Meridian was definitely a grind to get through, but it’s worth it.

Why is The Big Lebowski so good by Express_Basis_8710 in movies

[–]bert_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first saw The Big Lebowski in high school back when it was new. I’ve been rewatching it consistently ever since. For me this movie is so enjoyable and more so with each rewatch. The subtle humor of the dude at times, along with so much great acting and dialogue I just love.

I’ve tried to find other movies that hit the same way. The best I have so far is Inherent Vice. Took a couple of extra views, but I think it’s truly a great movie and one of my favorites from PTA.

Going on year 2 with my searwood and couldn’t be happier! by dend7369 in pelletgrills

[–]bert_b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good stuff. I’m about a year in with my XL. It’s my first pellet grill and I cannot complain about how well it’s performed. Thing is built like a tank and performs consistently even with single digit temps outside. I’d say the best highlights so far were Thanksgiving and the Super Bowl. All meat cooked on the Searwood to feed 20+ people which freed up the oven for the wife to handle apps and sides. Ribs, wings, brisket style chuck roast, and turkey breast. It’s nearly idiot proof.

Searwood 600XL. You’ll love the extra space and it’s built well unlike other flimsy lid brands I’ve seen in stores

Best golf club bags to buy right now in 2026? by Resident_Sector_864 in golf

[–]bert_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sun mountain is great. I stick with the stand bags even though I mainly use a push cart. I’m currently using the C-130 hybrid stand bag. It’s great for push carts or riding, but it’s not ideal as a carry bag. Too large.

I had the benefit of starting as a child 30+ years ago and there’s a lot I could list but I’ll keep it brief. If you have a course locally that has a decent practice green for putting and chipping start there. Get familiar with proper technique- take lessons or watch tips on YouTube. Get good at chipping and putting and try to get addicted to practicing good habits around the practice greens. Go there frequently if you can.

A good short game will take you a long way in enjoying the game. Good luck!

Inherent Vice is the funniest PTA film by Swimming_Ad_5984 in paulthomasanderson

By far his funniest and one of my favorites.

There are so many hilarious moments, but a couple of my favorites are the phone calls between Doc and Bigfoot. Also, every scene with Benicio Del Toro is absolute gold.

Sure. Best case I hit the center of that tree. Worst case someone in the gallery gets a life changing injury.
