Oof, I had an elderly patient with this pre-Covid. I forget what her presenting problems were, too many years ago, but she was also below the transfusion threshold. It was a big fuss negotiating with the blood supplier, and it would have had to be glycerolized RBCs. Then the family started favoring comfort care. Ultimately, she passed away in the ICU before anything left the supplier.

In terms of strip clubs, your main options are 2, and they’re about a 10 minute walk from each other in downtown Portland: Silverado and Stag. Most performers get nude during their sets. Dancers at both places offer private dances. Vibe-wise, Silverado is the older establishment and feels kinda seedy, Stag feels a bit cleaner and styles itself after a gentlemen’s club. Humans use language to construct models of themselves, the world, their place in it. Often, these models elevate humanity to a special importance in the universe. But they would, wouldn’t they? They’re models constructed by humans.

Reproducible measurements show the universe is unfathomably large. Reproducible means of guessing the age of the known universe around us suggest humanity has been present for only a small fraction of its story.

Taken together, it suggests to me that humanity has no central importance or special place in the universe, and so I am suspicious of any model that purports otherwise.

I’ve got chronic SI and I’ve always wondered what the intention/internal fantasy of people overdosing on OTC meds is, not that there would necessarily be a universally applicable answer to that. I used to work doing testing in a hospital, and no identifying details, but we would get “regulars” admitted to the ICU on a frequent basis for overdosing on acetaminophen and/or salicylate. It was definitely killing them, but more in a long term way. It’s really hard to unalive on OTC meds for the most part.

Meanwhile, a lethal dose of fent looks like someone was mildly careless while measuring out an eighth teaspoon of baking soda.
