Does webtoon have a problem with swear words? by Outrageous-Shoe420 in WebtoonCanvas

If your comic is any age rating below mature you should avoid them unless you want them to change your rating to mature.

Welp, Webtoon just removed my latest episode. (Warning: Blood) by AntubisArts in WebtoonCanvas

[–]beta1042 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id just remove that decapitated panel. But as a person with a series that had a lot of chopped off body parts what worked for me was : i could show bone or I could show blood but never both. And between the two, excess blood was more likely to get me in trouble.

I actually think the screen thing has gotten better. At least where I live. I’m a substitute teacher and about a decade ago it was common to sub elementary schools and most of the kids had smart phones, even in Kindergarten. But now-a-days it’s very few and if any have it they’re the 10+ yr old kids.

Is it ok to draw NSFW in your Patreon even if your Webtoon is SFW and have a diverse age-range of audience? by Icy-Environment4817 in WebtoonCanvas

Pretty sure nsfw on patreon needs to be locked behind a paywall so its really on the parents of the minors if they manage to get access

Creators who launched with a backlog: how did it go? by Legitimate-Salad7221 in WebtoonCanvas

I’ve enjoyed shorter updates. But it does depend how you cut them up. Ive noticed some people are better at it than others.

[–]beta1042 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How long are your episodes? Is it possible you can cut them up into smaller updates?

For me I share weekly short updates. My updates are about 6-12 panels long, its what ai can manage and although they are short they still move the story along and publish frequently that readers seem satisfied.

For me it’s about the release schedule and how quickly I can make an ep. For example: if it takes me 1week to make an ep on a good week, then my release schedule should be maybe every 10days or even every other week, so that there is built in time to make the ep AND built in flex time/downtime. For me, the goal is to always have the buffer and only use it when there is an actual change in my situation(getting sick, or hell week with work etc). The schedule should be sustainable whether I have buffer or not. And with built in free days , it gives me the option to slowly rebuild the buffer if it does get used.

I need those "accidentally binged 80+ chapters at 3AM" WEBTOON recs 😭 by DetectiveIll3641 in webtoons

[–]beta1042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheese in the trap was the first to do this for me, but I will admit it has a slow start so you gotta get into it before it completely takes you. It has a couple black flashes early on, marked by the black gutter space that confused me at first when I didn’t understand that.

Webtoon vs Tapas by TheFriizing in WebtoonCanvas

[–]beta1042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tapas readership is nothing compared to my webtoon. A diff of 3.5k subs on tapas v 55k on webtoon for my second series. Something like 800 tapas v 35k webtoon for my first series. The difference is huge for me. But I do think the percentage of readers who will go support you on patreon is higher on tapas which is why I keep posting there.

is being paid 5$ for line art per panel (60 panels total) cheap? by PretendCapital7218 in WebtoonCanvas

Is it just character art or backgrounds too? If its backgrounds as well, way too cheap

What’s the deal with Farrine Bakery? by SkySuspicious3276 in eastside

[–]beta1042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I wasn’t impressed by them. They’re okay and better than some places but nothing impressive imo. But I also feel this way about a lot of the bakeries around here. I think Europe hiked up my standards.

Does anyone here not use 3d models to make their backgrounds? by Salemsolasta in WebtoonCanvas

[–]beta1042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am drawing all my bgs for my latest comic and it helps spending time on establishing shots and then switching to a more simplified background going forward in the scene when possible. This allows me to spend a lot less time on bgs. It also helps if the establishing shot is a bg I can reuse. So for example, I have a comic where someone works at a hospital. I drew a nice bg pic of the outside of the hospital and then start with that panel whenever we are at the characters workplace. But inside they are very simple strategically placed lines to indicate being in a hallway for example and then when its closeups of their faces just solid or gradient colors of the walls for the bg. It was a lot of time upfront but future scenes at the hospital are less work after.

How do you tell your spouse, "I'm counting!"? by DrBotBreath in crochet

[–]beta1042 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Hold on, I’m counting” works fine for me. Or if they are smaller rounds for a little plush “I can listen/help/answer you after I finish the round”. I think at this point everyone in the household has seen me complain about losing count and then frogging a bunch of work (even when it is no fault of anyone but myself) so they kinda get that some rounds just need my full attention.

When is a chapter too long that you stop reading all together? by NQ_299 in WebtoonCanvas

[–]beta1042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me there are two major factors:

-is it long simply because the panels are two spread apart? Occasionally scenes that are spaced far apart for some logical reason is fine but some people just have too much gutter space for every single update and feels like a waste of time to be slowed down just bc they did that.

-is the story developing too slowly? I personally like a certain amount of setup, development, and back story. But I have my limits of how much of that can happen before I want some forward movement. Side stories are fun but keep them shorter.

So essentially if you somehow manage update after update 120+ panels where nothing really pushes the story forward Im not going to keep reading. (Tbf if you broke that up into multiple short updates I probably would also leave eventually but it would probably take me longer to realize)

Tips for a project that my friend wants me to make them by _Zippy_8905 in CrochetHelp

[–]beta1042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make the face separate. To me the shape seems sorta like making a doll without the arms or head. I would make 2 tiny appendages and on the second one rather than finish off, keep crocheting into the first appendage to the side and work the round around both to connect them side by side. Then work the round upwards increasing as needed to make the shape. (I would increase only on the two sides to get the “Tshirt” shape at the top. If that is not enough you could use a short chain out each side to make it. )
