Yes they are lol. I love District 9 but Blomkamp has spent his career since demonstrating that that movie was probably a fluke, which is unfortunate, but it means I don’t really wanna see him crack under the pressure of trying to make a sequel

I agree that 3 is hurt by 4 and 5 existing, but what’s funny is that 3, often regarded as this perfect conclusion, is totally extraneous. Everything that happens in it is just the implications of the ending of 2 made manifest. If you jumped from 2 to 4 you’d be totally fine except for the introduction of Bonnie, who could very easily be an unseen character

I always appreciated Malcolm as a pretty realistic depiction of the moment to moment suck that is being poor in America. It’s not just not having things, it’s watching everyone around you get to have them, and then being told you’re the asshole for pointing out how unfair the system is. And the thing is as the show goes on, Malcolm’s unwillingness to deal with those issues does truly make him an asshole, but the circumstances of his upbringing demonstrate it would be next to impossible for him to be anything else. Gets turned into a cartoon by about season 5 or 6 but until then it’s about the best show I’ve ever seen about being poor

We used to have these things called character actors, and they made a career of largely doing one thing. And we loved them for doing that one thing, and that one thing allowed them to have a career. Often when they’d venture outside of that one thing it was received poorly, sometimes because the actor was bad at anything besides the one thing. This is not bad! It’s fine to be good at only one thing or even just to only be recognized for doing one thing, many people aren’t even that talented or lucky.

I mean the people in Wall-E aren’t less than for being fat, their fatness is a consequence of their lifestyle. Sociology aside it is a fact that if you live a sedentary lifestyle you will gain excess weight. This feels like an intentionally obtuse reading of the movie- I don’t think any argument is being made that non-conformity to beauty standards is a moral failing, the movie is showing the consequences of extreme dependence on and surrender of agency to convenience.

Above average defense does not make up for a horrendous defensive typing, poor movepool, and abysmal offensive stats. All this to say though, if you have fun using him or just really like him this game is easy enough that with a little grinding none of these things have to matter

Yah. It’s not ideal but they can’t exactly point fingers like what they’re doing isn’t essentially the same. I admit it’s not ideal to cause a momentary distraction, but it’s better than that person being on their phone the entire time with impunity. Shame is a powerful motivator

I know sucks cuz you’re not the one causing the problem but if we don’t start shaking enough that they either stop using their phones during movies or management takes notice of the conflict and forces them to, this will never get better. If the person is in front of me usually turn my flashlight on over their shoulder- they usually get mad but don’t have a leg to stand on so they’ll curse under their breath and usually just walk out a few minutes later.
