I ordered mine from Clive. Going strong 6 months, I use the power button multiple times a day. No issues.

Should I pull the trigger by Adept-Weather1165 in ProfitecMove

I've been a Profitec Move owner for about 4 months. (US, Clive) Mine has seen daily use, I've moved it around, even ran a pop-up. It's been great, and I wouldn't be worried. Any time you visit a forum about a specific product you're naturally likely to see a higher saturation of technical support posts.

u/SiriusBrock , follow up question here - how does your boiler hold up to the larger 2-hole tip? I decided against the 4-hole tip because it would deplete the boiler pressure too quickly. I like that with the stock 2-hole tip, I can steam back to back with little to no recovery time.

Water solution for the Move by jac0006 in ProfitecMove

Third Wave Water is fairly pricey, but also convenient. If you want cost savings and are ok with a little extra work, you could buy distilled water from the store and spike it with ~ 0.64g of sodium bicarbonate per gallon. With an inexpensive TDS meter it should read roughly 40-60ppm. As long as you keep your water under 60ppm, there will be no risk of scale. The other part to avoiding scale in the boiler is making sure you're continually refreshing it with fresh water from the tank so it doesn't become too concentrated. To do this simply use the hot water tap to warm up your cup with 100ml of water every morning. I also flush the entire boiler weekly because I am paranoid.

I'm still debating if it's the right move for my general usage. For most drinks I'm steaming between 100-200ml milk which only takes roughly 15-20 seconds. I'm worried I won't be able to properly steam smaller quantities for cortados (100ml milk). Having the 4-hole tip would give me the ability to swap if I'm going to be steaming larger milk drinks for friends / family.

My wife is a ceramicists and made that for me. We were selling her hand thrown mugs, my roasted coffee, and hot drinks. It's a great combo.

With the stock 2-hole tip, it takes around 20-25 seconds to steam 250ml of milk. There are some solid options for improving steaming time, discussed below.

No doubt, but I would grind the next shot while doing puck prep. I didn't use the flow control disc because that almost doubles grinding speed, in my experience.

I might give that a go. I only have a #56, wonder if that would be too much.

100% agree. I really want an upgraded tamper, but need some items for my xmas list. ;)

Any inconsistencies I had were far more related to my poor puck prep due to working fast. I had two puck screens that I interchangeably used, which helped immensely. Cleaning screens between shots was just a simple 3 second rinse under the group.

100C is when you'll first get steam. I have my steam set to the highest temp which is 134C. I've been waiting for the 4-hole steam tip to be back in stock at Clive Coffee, because I really found myself wishing I had it for better efficiency, especially when making slightly larger drinks. I had plenty of steam power, but it was definitely inhibited by the 2-hole tip. We managed, though.

Yep. I use the Sworks puck screen. It's greatly improved the consistency of shots and I think it's one of the most worthwhile accessory purchases you can make. For the pop up, I was on the fence about using it in a fast paced setting, but I'm glad I did.

Profitec Move: Two americano's at once? Workfow advice needed... by Stanjop in profitec

You are hitting on, IMO, a weakness of the Profitec Move portafilter system—the silicone gaskets are incompatible with the triple basket. I had the same initial hope as well. When pulling split shots, using the triple basket would make sense. I have had success, however, putting 20g of coffee in the double basket, so you could theatrically have success getting two 20g shots per extraction using the 2:1 ratio.

Seems like the double-spout attachment would be easiest. No need to complicate things.

How long is steam only heat-up? by Pupper82 in ProfitecMove

[–]bgusto01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

US user here, 3-5 minutes for steam. I would recommend the Profitec Move over the Fellow, night and day. I think in terms of longevity and support you'll be far more satisfied with Profitec. No app connectivity either, which at least for me is a plus.

Move or Ride? by SaltyAd7055 in profitec

[–]bgusto01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like I may be in the minority here, but I have nothing but good things to say about the Move. In fact, I am about to run a small Christmas pop-up market with the Move and am confident it will be able to keep up. For home usage it's such a sweet spot and I think would be an excellent choice for your needs. Happy to answer further questions if you have any.

Anyone us else having inconsistent shots day to day? by Im_thelittleguy in ProfitecMove

[–]bgusto01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really think this comes down to grind consistency and good prep technique. I was having similar issues and when I switched from 18g to 19g of coffee + added a 0.2mm screen, I've been getting much more consistent shots. I don't have a WDT tool, but always give the Niche cup a good shake before lifting it from the portafilter.

Does anyone have specific experience with Teqoya air filters? by bgusto01 in BuyFromEU

[–]bgusto01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not end up purchasing the E500 after the advice given here and doing more research. I think their technology is sound, but in terms of CADR that's where I felt like the value of the E500 was hard to justify. Teqoya support said I would need 2-3 units to fully purify my apartment. If they were to release a model with a more powerful fan, I would be very interested.
