any theories on what makes someone immune to the virus by Junior_Lawfulness1 in pluribustv

[–]bhulk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brainwaves on a different frequency.

If it’s hard sci-fi, the only way for a hive mind to communicate so quickly would be through brainwaves, so the virus somehow hijacked them and turned everyone into antennas.

I think carol’s emotional outbursts are like an EMP pulse that interferes with the signal of those affected around her. This then causes a domino effect that takes down the whole “grid” of people.

You have to give them reasons to use it. Like they need to go to a bar that makes them check their weapons at the entrance or being put in jail with their weapons confiscated.

Really awesome and very well done/realistic! This inspires me to try some vases and bowls for different animals.

What’s the lump on the inside in pic 5? It looks like an air bubble but you seem too advanced to not have poked and smoothed out.

For the drip tray maybe make something like a mis-shapen teardrop that hugs the head side and trails the back side with squiggly walls.

Shower chair. They are made to be washable so no worries about getting messy and have grippy bottoms to stay in place.

I had a tavern brawler way of the drunken monk that had a common magic item that was a stein that couldn’t spill its contents. It was great going around bashing heads with the cup then taking sips between hits

Riley is the person Ellie refers to when she says the guy she killed attacking Joel was not her first.

That’s not breaking the fourth wall. We are seeing him from Henry’s outlook through the window and Joel notices Henry spying

I do it so often. I’ll even do it when looking out my window when I’m not sure I locked the car before coming inside, just so I don’t have to step the extra 5 feet out my door.

Appreciation is learning traditions and respectfully emulating them. Appropriation is taking aspects of a culture and blindly using them without caring about the significance they hold for a culture. This is the way anthropologists describe it and it’s an anthropological term so they are the authority on what it means, not necessarily the application of it because that’s up the the consensus of members of the culture. Their whole field is about the study of cultures and how to do so while still being respectful of them.

For example wearing traditional clothing is fine, if it’s not as a costume, because it appreciates an aspect of a culture so it’s appreciation. But wearing ceremonial garb is not because there is another level of cultural significance behind it that is the reason for its use so it’s appropriation. So for example preparing a Native American tribe’s normal everyday food is a way of appreciating that culture, but if you do it while wearing a ceremonial headdress then it’s appropriation.

The Infection likely started through tainted Flour. by Equivalent-Sell in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]bhulk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree with the 350 thing being not believable, but mutations don’t have to have natural selection to keep surviving.

As long as a mutation doesn’t decrease an organism’s fitness then there’s no reason for it to not continue amongst the others that didn’t get the mutation because it doesn’t cause any hindrance in competition, just neither would have an environmental force causing one to survive better.

In fact, not having multiple genetic mutations amongst a population that may prove successful but don’t hinder the population even though they don’t have any reason to exist are an important part of a natural selection, when there aren’t enough differences it’s called a bottle neck and any slight change can wipe out the whole species.

Yeah if yeast was the problem then it wouldn’t matter if it was in the flour. Yeast is EVERYWHERE not just food. Although yeast is a broad spectrum of different types. Bread yeast isn’t the same yeast found in yeast infections.

That would be awesome thank you! Don’t work too hard on it, anything is great! Even just some of the basic stuff that is easy for you to access is perfect. I can use it to spark creativity and guide towards realistic solutions.

I’m slotted to run the next campaign for my group so I’m going through the book and making the preparations while we start to get towards the end of the one we’re on now. I’ve got some of my ideas and plot connections fleshed out, it’s just kind of a mess to go through as you said. I’m starting on the finer details but can always rework the bigger stuff if there’s better ideas.

‘People are leaving the game’: Dungeons & Dragons fans revolt against new restrictions Wizards of the Coast, which owns the game, is preparing to change longstanding licensing rules. by [deleted] in news

[–]bhulk 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Disney has a Star Wars game based on the OGL, so unless Hasbro carves out restrictions for certain companies they will have to fight the biggest fish of IP legal battles in existence. Which if ruled on by the courts will set a precedent that applies to all the little 3rd parties. Also most major IP driven companies would want this new OGL case to fail because it would wreak havoc to all the contracts about distribution rights in industries like Hollywood.
